It was a journey. Now, if you let a man do the directions....we would of been there without a problem.
That being said, it is really easy to find!!! The food was above our expectations, the presentation of the food was excellent, the service was very professional and fun, the decor was very, very cool! It put the romantic edge on the night. Some dishes are "just good" - but always good enough to leave a favorable impression. Some dishes are truly top-notch (tip: Order the flat iron steak whenever it's featured...always perfect). Service is always prompt and professional, and prices are appropriate. The only nagging criticism after dozens of visits is that the chef seems to make beautiful, fresh fish too dry. I don't know if it's because they emphasize simple, healthy treatments for seafood and therefore scrimp on the butter, cream, sauce, etc. to keep the fats and calories down....but ask for side sauce.5/23/2013 12:00:00 AMReliable, enjoyableNot living in Pasadena I don't come here often, but I've enjoyed it every time I come. The menu is extensive, the wine list was excellent, the ambience is very pleasant and grown-up. One can have a conversation though the place is still lively. The staff are attentive. I had been here before for dinner and it did not disappoint. Lunch was excellent the lobster club with garlic fries was delicious as well as the chicken sandwich. The lobster crepe was to die for, yummy! We were taken to a corner table way in the back but had a view of the whole place. It was private yet open. It was a wonderful setting for us to just enjoy each others company. I can see this. What really started the evening for us was the integrity shown by the valets and the manager. My sister lost a very sentimental ring. Apparently it had fallen out of her lap when she left the car. She went outside to see if perhaps someone had found it. The valet turned it in to the mgr. When she found him, he was wearing it on his finger so as not to lose it. Integrity means more than anything & they showed it. The service was impeccable and eager to assist with menu choices. The main dining hall of the restaurant is well polished andd spacious (i.e., you do not feel like you are sitting on top of everyone as you do with many LA eateries). The food was very good, if not excellent, the highlight being the dessert course, where we selected a Banana's Foster that was particularly scrumptious. It was as great as I remember. Food was fantastic, atmosphere was moody and sophisticated, but not pretentious. Sam was our server and he was outstanding. Best service I have had in a long time. Apparently there were a few large parties which delayed our dinner, but he was super attentive and made sure we were taken care of and not left to feel forgotten. We were having such a nice time, that we didn't' even feel the delay. Amazing wine list, great recommendations!! My steak was superb and cooked exactly as I wanted. It's quiet, you can hear your companions without shouting but there's a nice hum about the room. I had requested a quiet table and shared that we both had birthdays. We were welcomed warmly and seated on their enclosed patio where there are just a few tables.
