My friend recommended this restaurant. It is a definite winner! Food was to perfection. Two of us had birthdays. There was a birthday card on the table. There was. birthday dessert. There were beautiful orchid floral bouquets for each of us. The Creme Brûlée Napolian was so exquisite. What a memorable experience.

I attended Parkway Grill for my 22nd birthday. I looked up some restaurants in the Pasadena area, and Parkway Grill seemed to be the best find. My companions and myself were more than satisfied. The food was amazing. Our food came out perfect. Our server Danielle was amazing also. She made us feel comfortable and welcomed.

But that doesn't mean it's bad. The food is more adventurous, which I really like. The service isn't as elegant, but it's still good. The tables are many more and much closer together, and I miss the quiet elegance of the way it used to be. We were there last Xmas eve and felt packed in-- thinking it had been a while, and that it wasn't a holiday, we went this Friday night. It was very noisy and the tables were extremely close together. I suppose profit motivates the Smith brothers-- but with Smitty's and Seco buzzing, and both being really good, you'd think they could still offer a place of luxury. a place where if you want to get dressed up, you can, and if you want to whisper, you can still be heard. Sadly, Not so. The food was absolutely delicious. The ambiance is still gorgeous, but it was so loud that the live music from the bar area could barely be heard-- just sounded like muffled sound. used to be that music from the bar wafted through the entire restaurant and that was part of the elegant and quiet experience that enveloped you. Just a lot of money to spend and not get the elegance that used to be the trademark of the Parkway Grill. It used to be a place we saved for special occasions-- now it seems it's just one more of the many more than moderate priced restaurants we frequent. We'll continue to go from time to time, but if the atmosphere is going to be that loud and that casual, we might as well just go to Seco. I suppose if I want elegant, since Bernard's is long gone, we can still go Downtown, where two or three such enterprise still seem to exist. Why is it that few people seem to know about "indoor voice" anymore?

The Parkway Grill offers a very relaxed and inviting atmosphere. The service is always welcoming and makes the experience better. The menu has some excellent dishes that you can look forward and find. One of my lunch favorites is the Tostada Salad. Fresh, not too heavy and very tasty - a couple of chips and a bit of guacamole atop and my evil side is satisfied, but not at the expense of a binge breakdown and a whole bowl of chips is consumed...... But this last visit I went off the familiar track and had one of the inviting specials which always offer a unique and different choice. On Fridays Parkway offers the Lobster Club. This was worth taking the adventure and for those of you who have not tried it, this dish is wo rth the Friday trip. Versatile and consistent I would urge readers to visit on a special occasion and sometimes venture off the menu into the delectable specials.

The ambiance is "old school" delightful. I felt like I was back in the Northeast. The menu offers much, but at quite the price for lunch. It is not somewhere you can get out of cheaply. Our server, while very nice, had trouble staying attentive. It took 3 requests, for example, to get a glass of water.

Always the most attentive service, great food. We usually order the lamb bolognese to start. Perfect pasta. Rib eye is spot on. Service is attentive but not intrusive. We sat at the bar prior to our reservation, and enjoyed to wonderful live music and the bartender, who shared his bourbon wisdom with us.

We have dined at Parkway Grill 3 times in the last 6 years, each time after attending the Breeder's Cup at Santa Anita Racetrack (the restaurant is only about 10 minutes from the track). Their food is excellent, ambiance terrific and service USUALLY very good. We were seated in the section attached to the side of the main dining room - very crowded, not nearly as nice as the dining room, and we could smell cigarette smoke from the smokers outside. DEMAND the dining room, or even sit at the bar to eat. The seafood and salads are excellent, try the shrimp or lobster appetizers. Arroyo Chop House, also owned by this group, is located in the same parking lot and is also quite good.

While the restaurant was nice in a country club sort of way, the food was disappointing. The dishes we're either tortured and overly complicated, containing about 3-4 ingredients too many, or under-salted and boring. Nothing was particularly vibrant, rather, the flavors were overworked and muddled. My boyfriend's cocktail, however, was the remarkable exception. Subtle, distinct, delicately flavorful - the Silver Spike was the best thing on the menu.

Parkway Grill is a culinary force. The menu is always interesting and freshly planned. My husband and I were spoiled by the head waiter Ron. He suggested delicious appetizers, meals and dessert. I highly recommend the corn dog tiger shrimp appetizer with spicy mustard. Also the creme brûlée Napoleon dessert with caramel sauce was perfection. Thank you Parkway Grill for another memorable evening. Truly special.

We go to Parkway Grill approximately once a month and it seems that the prices keep going up with ever visit. The corkage is now $30 and many entries are $40 and above. These are Westside prices in Pasadena. We have decided to expand the restaurants we visit and spend more time in the Westside. More menu variety at the same price as Parkway Grill.

It had been several years since I had been to Parkway for dinner as I live in the West Valley. But an event at Desyano Gardens had us looking for restaurants when I remembered Parkway Grill. Had my doubtful teenage boy foodie with me as well as my husband who were Parkway newbies. Let's just say that thanks to a great meal and exceptional service (and a couple of cannolis), I now have restaurant picking cred in my family. Truly excellent on all levels.

Since we are not from Pasadena we sought the advice of good friends in our search for a Romantic Restaurant with excellent food. They suggested the Parkway Grill. They did not lead us astray, From the second we walked in the door the staff went out of their way to make our experience special. They gave us a table in a quiet location and on the table was a Card waiting for us. All of the servers made sure to greet us with "Happy Anniversary" and gave us just the right amount of attention, ensuring our privacy. The food was excellent, the white Fish perfectly done and my steak was exactly the way I love it. The evening was topped off with a bouquet of orchids and a lovely dessert on the house. We will return!

Parkway Grill was a great disappointment. Stuffy ambiance, cavalier service, the food was not good, poorly prepared, andREALLy expensive! The ambiance is old Country Club, the service was high handed (I'm the authority not you), the pasta was not cooked, nothing was exceptional, and so expensive, $ 275 for four from the secondary menu. I have grown up among very good restaurants, and this wasn't even close.
