The soup and salad starters were great and the Texas antelope was surprisingly tasty and not at all gamey. The steak that my wife had was cooked well but it lacked much flavor.   • "We went with a reservation and we waited 45 minutes to be seated after our reservation. Our order was taken after other tables (2 other tables) were seated and ordered before us. Our food was beautifully displayed and average tasting. The place was packed with a young (30-40 age) crowd. I have dined there during the day and the average age was 70-90. I don't need to go back for average food and a 45 minute wait with a reservation."

  • "Went here for my birthday - my wife made a reservation on open table and mentioned it was my birthday. The host was rather bland and not very friendly, no greeting, no questions if it is a special occasion. Not what you would expect at a top quality restaurant. We sat down and the waiter walked up - no greeting, no questions about a special occasion, no questions if it was our first time, no questions about any questions on the menu - just a drink order followed by "want to hear the specials?" So he goes through them and off he goes. Comes back later and says, "ready?" Doesn't come back until the food comes. Doesn't bring a candle on our desert (like others around me). Not friendly. Bottom line - foods amazing, service is horrible."

  • "Visited Park Avenue for a quiet celebratory anniversary dinner with my wife. We both enjoyed the food, the atmosphere and the service. It was also very nice to be in a restaurant that was quiet enough to allow us to have an actual conversation. The chef came out to check on us, along with the other guests. They grow many of the fresh vegetables served in the restaurant, and the homemade ice cream is the best! A neighborhood gem for sure!"

  • "a month or so ago I took my office there and I had the steak sandwich and they had some sort of a sauce on the meats I didn't really care for I was in there again couple of days ago with my office and a vendor of ours and I tried to get a Cobb salad and it really wasn't very good the lettuce was a little wilted there was no bacon bits in there...was supposed to be an egg that was not in there I think there might have been some avocado and there was chicken in there but they were just big chunks not really that good of taste normally I would say something and request some different food send it back but i just didn't feel like bothering with it didn't have the time the good news for me was the vendor picked up the tab!"

  • "This was our second visit to Park Ave. I remembered the service being much better last time. Who knows why the difference. But, what stood out was marginally friendly staff from the hostess, bartender, to the waitress. I could have gone the whole night barely speaking to them, and they would have probably left me alone. The food was good and enjoyable, but was a bit overpriced, especially the drinks."

  • "When I made the reservation, I noted it was our 37th anniversary. The waiter made a point of letting us know he was aware of it. When it came time for desert we both ordered something. He brought them both with a candle and again acknowledged the occasion. When the bill came, I was surprised to see we were charged for both. Normally a restaurant will comp at least one desert but not here. With the prices being what they are here, I thought it was a bit cheap."

  • "I found Park Avenue as a recommendation for a 'nicer' place for dinner when visiting Disneyland. My spouse and I enjoy Disneyland, but after eating in the park, it is so nice to have one evening of something nice, and Park Ave fills that desire. I kept thinking my parents were going to walk through the door for an evening out - it has that type of restaurant ambiance. Very old school with leather banquettes, good steaks (although the fish looked good as well), nice wine, and if I were a martini woman, a martini before dinner. The salad, from their own garden was so fresh, and tasted like it had just been picked. We will definitely go back the next time we are at Disneyland, or the area."

  • "We arrived at 7pm on a Saturday night and by 8pm the crowd was beginning to clear. They don't have a big bar and were out of martini glasses so we made do. We sat at a cute bench two top and and enjoyed oysters from Washington followed by a refreshing Caesar salad (touch of anchovy). My date ordered the Rib Chop with cheddar cheese baked potatoes and broccolini (USDA prime) while I had scallops with a butternut squash/edamame succotash. Both were off the charts delicious. We topped off the evening with chocolate cake and were very satisfied and happy! It's not a late night happening place but a definite special evening or date night out. Yumi"

  • "We heard and read a lot of good things about this place, so we walked in with expectations of a great meal and service. Unfortunately it was not a good night for us. This may not be indicative of a normal night because they were hosting a retirement party. I think, our experience as guests of the restaurant suffered. Don't want to give them too bad of review, I got the sense that they cared, but it was a below average meal and average service. We did enjoy a great bottle of wine AND the prices for wines by the bottle are amazing."

  • "We were offered "Il Garage", which is a true 4-car garage in the rear/side of fhe compound. It is open air, with planters and gardens of vegetables and herbs (used in the kitchen) as a backdrop. Our group had salads, risotto, Barramundi, filet mignon, all excellent. The quality of the food an preparation was outstanding. The only issue was that they were very busy, may have added some extra tables, and our orders arrived after a relatively long wait: probably 45-50 minutes from ordering to receiving entrees. They have also fallen into the trendy but unfortunate practice of serving olive oil/vinegar rather than butter with the bread; not for everyone and the bread was crispy, so it didn't work."

Though steaks and chops are their specialty, they do fish very well, which is a true measure of their quality. Everything here always delicious, from the salads to starters."

  • "Found this place last year and definitely wanted to return for another visit. They use fresh greens and vegetables grown on-site (you can take a glass of wine into the gardens if you wish). My filet was cooked perfectly and the twice-baked cheddar potatoes were delicious. Awesome mid-century decor that is very cool. Friendly and efficient service. Highly recommend Park Ave. on all fronts: food, service and decor!"

  • "We ate at Ill Garage Seated facing the garden It was an indoor outdoor view. The waiter put oil olive mixture so we could dip the delicious bread. my daughter had wine then appetizer sliced tomatoes from there garden and cheese with the olive oil. my aughter chose pasta and I had there steak cooked perfectly.We had a thourilly enjoyable experience."

We shall certainly be back - and will probably choose to eat in the Il Garage open room next time, overlooking the kitchen gardens. This has to be the absolute best choice for a special occasion in the large back room with its expanse of parkland and lit trees outside. Looking forward to next time."

  • "This was our second visit. Our first experience was very good. This visit was poor. Salads were very poor. The vinagrette was all oil and salads were missing ingredients. 3/5 main courses were extremely under-seasoned. Service was unacceptably slow. It took 2 hours for 2 courses and no one even checked to see if we were pleased with our dishes."

  • "I love the ambience and decor of the restaurant. The wait staff was very good. The food, not so much.We started off with a wedge salad with peppered bacon. They were so skimpy with the bacon, I wanted a more. Maybe 8 small bits of bacon. Really?? I ordered a rib eye steak and it was about 1/8" thick! Ugh., reminded me of something you would get at a Coco's. I also ordered it with the au gratin potatoes. They were rubbery with cheese on the top and undercooked in the middle. This was a special birthday and not one person ever acknowleged the birthday or offered a dessert. I was told they don't do that anymore. We spent over $135.00 for two, I expected someone to at least say Happy Birthday. We wont' be back anytime soon."

  • "My experience was very dissappointing. It was my wifes birthday and i had told them but the waiter had no Idea. They put us in a table for two off to the side that was so dark I needed a flashlight to read the menu. I asked for a New York steak done medium, it came Rare. The Green been should have been crisp and fresh but were very limpy and over cooked. At the end of the evening we ordered Ice cream. Park Ave was nice enough to supply a candle for my wife to celebrate her birthday. to top it off we Were charged 8 dollars each for the Ice cream when the menu said 7 dollars. I guess the candle was not free. This was the 8th time we have been at this restraunt and it has been always very good. Maybe they just had a bad night there."

  • "Had a Valentine's Weekend dinner at Park Ave and it was fantastic! First time for both of us, and with the special crab cake appetizer on the menu, we had to give it a try - it was phenomenal. I have never had a crab cake so fresh and flavorful..and there was a wasabi cream that was fantastic. For dinner entrees, we had the ribeye and the filet. They were both amazing! Ordered the Filet medium, and it came out medium rare which was just perfect. Dessert was the butterscotch pot, something I never would have regularly selected, but did due to other reviews...I am so glad we did, as it was so unique and tremendously delicious. Pricey, but worth it for a dinner splurge to celebrate a nice occasion. I look forward to going back!"
