A word from Park Tavern
With an exciting mix of vintage fixtures, comfortable furnishings, and handsome textures, Park Tavern is an elegant spin on a North Beach neighborhood classic. Owner Anna Weinberg and designer Kendra Nicholas of Park Interiors collaborated to divide the room into unique, dedicated spaces -- the handsome marble bar, the terra cotta floored cafe with windows that open onto the patio facing Washington Park, the comfortable dining room with tufted leather banquettes, and an open kitchen with a chef’s counter.

Park Tavern will showcase Chef Partner Jennifer Puccio's talents with delicious American bistro classics and emphasize seafood from a wood burning oven. From raw to fried, expect boldly flavored dishes that you'll want to eat several times a week.

Serving up classic cocktails with the candor and character of an old friend, you won't find any overly fancy mixology here. But when it comes to wines, you find something for everyone!

Diner Reviews
  • "The meal my family had at the Park Tavern we wonderful. We started with the Deviled Eggs and the Truffle Fries. Both were amazing. Loved the creativity of adding a soft boiled egg with caviar as a "dipping sauce" for the fries. Everyone enjoyed their entrees and the highlight was the "Birthday Cake" dessert. Our server, Mario, was very attentive (but not to the point of bugging us). While the noise level is a bit high, we sat in the front of the restaurant near the street and the sound level is much better there. We would definitely return."

  • "Park Tavern is pricey but worth going to for special occasions because it never disappoints."

  • "Lardons everywhere, noise too high to talk, service taking order from table next to us right on top of me."

  • "Always good. Great location. If you're in San Francisco for a few days, this is a good place to go for one of the nights."

  • "We had our wedding reception here...and we were absolutely impressed with every element of this restaurant. They accommodated our large party with ease. The food was incredible. The location is perfect. I can't say enough good things about this place. A must if you're even close to the area."

  • "I ordered the gnocchi and was very disappointed. First off, it did not look appetizing at all on the plate. But, sometimes, looks can be deceiving so I gave it a try. This dish was so salty, I could barely eat it! And I like salty foods! You couldn't tase any other flavors. I did like the lemon chip appetizer and truffle fries. The restaurant itself had a good vibe and was packed."

  • "fun and lively atmosphere, rustic but modern decor and amazing food!"

  • "lemon chips and burata - awesome roasted chicken - dynamite venison carpaccio - wow"

  • "I brought two good friends for a late lunch at 12:45. By 1:15 the place was clearing out their lunch crowd so it would seem like a time to get really great service. It wasn't. Parts of our meal weren't delivered at the right time. They were very slow to attending to us. I told my friends about this place for a long time. And I've been there many times. But was very disappointed with the level of service."

  • "Great food, drinks, ambiance & service. This place is amazing and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a place to go on a Saturday night out! The truffle fries with truffle garlic aoli and a soft boiled egg with caviar is a must try!!! The cocktails are also super creative. All in all the food and service were fantastic. It's now my favorite restaurant/bar in the city."

  • "Our third visit to this hot spot and enjoyed it as much as our first visit."

  • "Great food but the waiter seemed to forget about us a lot. Very noisy but if you're at a two top you are seated next to your dining partner so it's easier to hear."

  • "I live in North beach and love this place. The PT fries starter is delicious and they have a wonderful brunch."

  • "Just as reviewed by Michael Bauer, the chicken was excellent and very surprised to see some of my favorite Spanish wines by the glass. Great place and location. Kenn Freel"

  • "too salty, too expensive, too noisey and too pretentious for what you get.."
    Dined on 3/18/2014
  • "The food here is very good and different - not the run of the mill steak and chicken. The wine list is excellent and the desserts are NOT to be missed - especially the monthly birthday cake. The service is prompt and friendly."

  • "This was our second visit to Park Tavern. The staff is friendly, well trained and efficient and the room has a very good vibe. The menu has some great options on it like the carrot soup and the stuffed chicken but also some items that are not that well executed like the hamburger. And the food is on the heavy side with few green vegetable options. Our biggest issue is the noise. Seems to be hitting decibel levels comparable to some of the most noisy restaurants in town. Too bad more people don't take issue with excess noise in restaurants. For me and my wife it is a turn-off and we stay away. If more people felt the same maybe restaurants would tone it down."

  • "As I said, you must get the brussel sprout chips. Service was a little slow this time around, but I never have a bad experience. We had a client dinner here and she was happy at the end!"

  • "Note that this is a great place for a couple of friends or a couple to eat. Great food and great services. Space is limited and big groups might have a harder time to fit. Very loud inside and not very kid friendly. But overall, an excellent time and excellent selection of food and well worth the time and money!"

  • "i have eaten here once before and the food was outstanding. this time very good but not outstanding. our table for three was a little uncomfortable. service both times was good but not great. the chicken, lamb, and pt fries were outstanding. we did not have desert this time. we also ordered venison carpaccio - excellent demons on horseback - average pickled sardine toast - average brussel sprout chips - good cod fish entrée - good"

  • "But this time, there were a couple things that were a bit annoying. The main issue was that the waitress misheard my order, duck egg sandwich and brought me a deviled egg sandwich. This would not have been a big problem, but it took quite a long time for my actual order to come out. Then, the waitress basically ignored us for the rest of our brunch. She would disappear for long periods of time. We were given a dessert to make up for the mistake, but I was already a bit annoyed. However, let me say that this place is amazing for dinner. I will always recommend it."

  • "Open the door and feel invited, the ambience is welcoming. The food is exceptional and the staff engaging and competent. We hope to go back again and again."

  • "Had a great time. Had eaten there once before, liked it and went back. The food is tasty and very good. Both my husband and I had the Bar Steak. The portion was big enough to take some home. Highly recommend the Brussel Sprout Chips! Service was fast and easy going. My husband mentioned it was his birthday dinner and our lovely waiter brought a piece of yummy orange cake with a candle in it! Fun place, fantastic food. We'll definitely go back. Being older adults, we used the $12 valet for our car. It's too crazy to try and park around there (North Beach, Washington Square) for us oldsters. 30 years ago I'd traipse up and down those hills like a mountain goat. Not so much now. Valet fast and efficient, considering we ate during "prime time""

  • "Food was great, but service was extremely slow. We waited at least 20-25 min for our entrees after they cleared our appetizer plates."
    Dined on 3/18/2014
  • "I couldn't give this place 4 stars on the food simply because they missed the mark on preparing 2 of 3 burgers. I expected a place like this to nail the medium rare, but sadly it was overcooked. Other than that the food was pretty great!"
    Dined on 3/17/2014
  • "All food items were way too salty. I like good seasoning but when I went - it seemed all overboard and really detracted from the food. I had the deviled eggs, the brussell sprout chips and the burger. It would have been nice to have tasted those items a little better than the salt. The service is very good though and the street seating is divine. Get the hummingbird drink and the fries with aioli and eat somewhere else."

  • "This was our third and final visit. Oddly out-of-sync menu; pricey; mediocre service. Best thing about it is the location across from Washington Square Park."

  • "My husband and I had been trying to get a reservation here for a while and we finally got one for this past Saturday night. The meal was delicious, the service great and there are many items that we want to go back and try! We will definitely go back."

  • "Park Tavern serves lunch on Fridays. It was a nice day and most guests wanted to sit outside or by the window, so the interior dining area was QUIET, great for conversation without having to shout, and the service and food were excellent. We had the focaccia sandwiches with vegetables. Excellent. This is truly a neighborhood gem. Plus they offer valet parking-- very convenient in North Beach."

  • "The staff at Park Tavern is great. Susan W., our server, is magnificent. She was there when needed and not ever an interruption to our conversation or dinner. The noise level is pretty intense, we've had lunch before and conversation is very comfortable in the afternoon. The hostess who called to confirm our reservations was marvelous. Open Table had made the reservation for two people when it was actually for four. I tried to correct this with Open Table several times to no avail. The Park Tavern reservations desk said they had nothing for four until 9pm. She checked further and made arrangements to get us in with our visiting guests at the original time of 6:30pm, Kudos to all the staff and management."

  • "I have dined many times at Park Tavern and had wonderful experiences. This time it was off kilter. We waited too long to give our drink order. We then got our appetizers arrived before the drinks. Had to send them back. When the main courses appeared, the presentation had no artistic flair. My duck was cut up a scatered on the plate. It was special occcaision and we left dissapointed. I will have second thoughts before making Park tavern my "go to" place."

  • "There is no reason not to go to this restaurant the atmosphere, the staff the food the monthly birthday cake is reason alone to make at least one dinner a month here. However my primary reason is the Brussels sprouts chips and the deviled eggs. I'm now making a point to order a different entrée each time so to not get in a rut just had the pork chop and the black truffle roasted chicken. "I might have to do that one again ,YUM !""

  • "Nicely crafted cocktails and exceptional food in a cool environment. Another great San Francisco restaurant."

  • "Nice old style decoration, with large space and mirrors, redecorated open kitchen and old fashion "bistro" type. BUT, way too expansive for the value, service was average, pretentious, impersonal, just to be attractive to trendy persons. We must have been not trendy... I don't like to pay twice as much as I paid at Delancey Street Restaurant for the same brunch."

  • "We have enjoyed dinner here many times. This was our second brunch experience and it was absolutely fantastic! We will return. :-)"

  • "It's fun to go out someplace that really makes you feel like you are in the heart of a vibrant city. Park Tavern is like that. Great energy from the cool design, music and service. Delicious food and you feel like you can stop by dressed to the nines or coming from a hike, equally comfortably."

  • "Cocktails fabulous, wine pretty decent, food to die for. Don't miss ordering the truffle fries. Best I have had. Top it all off with a birthday cake at the end. Yummy place that I would totally recommend or take out of town guests to again."

  • "There's no two ways about it. You go to Park Tavern for the food. Forget about any sort of conversation. It is noisy. It is loud. It is hard to hear conversation across the table. If you wanted to have a special evening with a special someone, this NOT the place. No whispering "sweet nothing doings" here. It would only illicit a "Huh?" or a "What?" in response."
