I took two clients to lunch at the Park Grill. The service was excellent and the food was good. The noise level was moderate - not bad for a busy lunch hour of noon on Wednesday. Overall a pleasant experience, and I think I closed new business - always a plus.

  • Hidden Gem

I have been to the Park Grille twice in the last couple of months and have enjoyed both meals. Until then I hadn't been there for a few years. Just forgot about this hidden gem. The restaurant is centrally located to the theatre, museums and symphony, and has a variety of food options, but not a overwhelmingly large menu. My sister had a hamburger special, that was outstanding. The restaurant also has a good selection of wines. The dinner prices are moderate. That's nice considering that many of the dinner prices in the Chicago downtown area are rather expensive.

  • Great Lakes Whitefish?

Anybody who lives near our amazing 5 Great Lakes knows that when you are away, you can't wait to return so you can go to your favorite restaurant and enjoy Whitefish from the Great Lakes. Almost everywhere, this is a broiled, baked or stuffed filet which is so large it hangs off the plate. It is usually served with potatoes and even if the plate looks heaping, is it a light meal. When I was served a piece of White Fish which was cut to 3 or 4 inches long, I was disappointed. When it was served with the skin side up (rather than skinless or skin side down) I was grossed out. When I realized the butternut squash puree was a garnish on the plate, and not a full serving to replace the typical portion of mashed potatoes, I felt ripped off.

We were going to a lecture at the Art Institute so this restaurant is very convenient. The food was very good, not too badly priced for downtown and service was excellent. Normally, it's very crowded and noisy but at this time of year the skating rink isn't up and people aren't downtown for shopping so it was quiet and very enjoyable. Nice selection of varied entrees and a pretty good by the glass wine list as well.

Our first visit to the Park Grill was worth it. The food was great....ordeed steak and eggs and salmon Benedict from the weekend brunch menu. We were the first in the restaurant. We were given the option of inside or outside patio.mwe took the outside option. As this was the Chicago marathon weekend, there was a lot of things going on. Our server was friendly, and checked in on us just the right amount. Overall experience was great and we expect to visit this place again during our next Chicago visit.

Went for lunch while in Chicago for a conference. Food was very good and server was nice, but not knowledgeable on the menu questions we asked. Made reservations to come back the next night through Open Table. Server was snarky and negative. Additionally, you were out of a number of items for both our lunch and dinner experiences. It wasn't the worst experience, but the server could have been more pleasant. We were with clients. We wanted to bring 10 people, but Open Table said there was only room for 8 at the time we wanted to go, which was prime time, I realize that. When we got there, we noticed many, many empty tables and could have brought the rest of our team, but it was too late by then. Again, the food was very good.

I can't say enough positive things about my experience at Park Grill. I made a reservation on open table, and as soon as the staff found out that my fiancee and I just got engaged, we received total VIP treatment. They congratulated us every chance they had. The food was so good... I had their signature burger and while my other half had their Rock Shrimp and Lobster Ballerine. It was delicious! Great job, great staff, amazing location, highest recommendation.

The food at Park Grill is still tasty and appears well-prepared, but...unfortunately, the over-all atmosphere at this place has deteriorated badly. The noise level is horrible, perhaps because of the fact the clientele seems less-educated these days, and the restaurant looks dirty and in need of renovation. It's ironic, but I believe the prices have also increased. Disappointing.

I don't know who the old chef was - but as we were telling our server how awesome the food was, he let us knew they had a new executive chef - who clearing has made some great additions! I had the short ribs that night, which was on as a special, and I can say they were without a doubt the best short ribs I have ever had - totally cooked to perfection! This is a great location alreaady, right there in the Park (near the Bean!) but the food is definitely why I will eat here next time I am in town.

This was my first time dining out in Chicago, so I relied on Open Table to help me find a place close to Union Station. The service was outstanding (Katherine, I think) and the wine list extensive, especially for such a moderately-sized establishment. I ate their signature burger (dee-lish :), brussel sprouts (so-so) and a quartino of Evolution wine as I took in the passers-by at Millennium Park. I'd return again. This place has a mellow, yet polished vibe, so I imagine it's a popular place for business lunches and after work.

At bar, service terrible, bartenders not at all knowledgable, out of a couple wines, no munchies, had to ask twice for check, bar dirty. We wanted a kid-friendly place and this worked out well for that. Our waitress was very nice to our two children and the view was very nice. My big complaint was that my daughter asked if she could have meatballs on her spaghetti. When we got the bill - the kids dish was $6 - but they charged us $12 extra for the meatballs, which seemed a little extreme. My husband got the white fish - which was a little dry. I had a Cobb salad - which was very good. Probably wouldn't go back - but it's worth going at least once. Nice atmosphere being in the heart of Millenneum Park.

The service at this restaurant was less than desirable. Once seated, we waited over 15 minutes before finally stopping a waiter to ask for water. When three of our party of 5 had finished lunch, our waiter then brought the check before everyone was finished and never even asked if we wanted coffee or dessert. The food was ok - boring and not exciting. I had a chicken cobb salad that had about 1 tablespoon of chicken on it. For such a desirable location, I expected much more out of this restaurant!

Booked a table for five, which was really for six, but close enough to feel personal. Great waiter. He did everything with subtlety, even filling water glasses and replacing a wet napkin under a drink without getting in the way of conversation. The menu was interesting, not mind-blowing. Seemed designed to please tourists, which we are not, but there were many present. Chorizo turkey burger was excellent--probably the most interesting item we ordered--and came with fries that reminded one of us of really tasty state fair fries--a plus. Among the restaurants downtown with a similar price point, I would place this one ahead of Terzo Piano, but behind The Gage, but with a better noise level than the former. Not greatly imaginative, but good.

The Park Grill is in a wonderful location, right in the heart of Millennium Park. How does such a wonderful location with a GREAT view manage to have poor service, poor food quality and the bathrooms are worse than the public bathrooms in the park. The service people seem to operate on a very slow pace with "bare" minimum. Owners need to pick it up and clean up the place...poor all the way around. Very disappointing.

We chose Park Grille for it's menu and rave reviews. We were seated on time and had a great booth tucked away from the door. The food was incredible (we both had fish, I had the whitefish and he had the tuna). We chose a bottle of wine that ended up being unavailable, but the sommelier was fantastic and recommended a spectacular bottle of Chardonnay. Everything about the dinner and ambiance was fantastic except the service. Our waiter was not attentive or professional. It took 1 hour to place our order, he never introduced himself so we still don't know his name, we had to ask for our utensils, and when we needed something he was never to be found. We would most definitely come back but avoid being seated at his tables.

The food was great. We came to celebrate our anniversary--which we have celebrated at the Park Grill for a number of years. Then we went to the symphony concert at Millennium Park. (That was fabulous). But the service was almost awful. Very slow, not responsive except for the fellow who kept filling up our water glasses. The waiter could have been (should have been!) a lot more attentive. This has been the case before as well. Oh, I think for a nice restaurant the waiterS could wear something nicer than jeans under their apron.
