Diner Reviews
  • "We never expected 5:00 on a Saturday to be a difficult time to get service - it was. 10 minutes to get a drink at the bar and not enough staff. Couldn't bother to fill up water, ask about the meal, offer a box for leftovers or even if we wanted anything else. Took 5 minutes to find waiter to request bill. Birds nesting in the outdoor tent top were roosting above tables and people eating. Food was mediocre and overpriced. "Flat bread" turned out to be a very doughy thick bread with a thin layer of cheese and a few other items on top, and was pretty tasteless. Hamburger came with a odd slaw-like salad that had no flavor. Clearly for drinks and social folks - those ordering multiple drinks nearby had plenty of service!"

  • "On the first perfect day to dine outside after 6 long months we had a delicious dinner at the Park Grill. The food was fresh, the service was friendly and the scenery and people watching was outstanding."

  • "Can't beat the location - but could be so much more. On a Friday lunch, took us over 20 minutes to just have our orders taken. The manager even came over and asked if he could take our order but never came back. Huge disappointment."

  • "The hamburgers were amazing! We enjoyed the locale being close to the Bean and the service was awesome! Will return in the summer months when we can dine outside!"

  • "There are multiple choices for dining in the area near Millennium Park. The Park Grill may not stand out as the preferred choice for many diners, but the consistency of the food and service here always make it dining option for me. Our meal was great and the server was charming and accommodating. I'll be back."

  • "My husband and I revisited the Park Grille before a recent concert at Symphony Center. We hadn't been there for quite a long time but had good memories of previous experiences. It didn't disappoint. The food is simple and unpretentious but really well executed. I had the scallops, which were done perfectly. My husband had the Wagyu beef burger. It was great. The location is special with a fantastic view of the city. When the weather is good, it is a great place to have a nice meal outdoors."

  • "Park Grill is a mix of comfort and elegance. The service is excellent, the ambiance soothing yet refined without being stuffy, and the food is exceptional. The menu features many basics done well with just enough creativity to make them seem new. Nothing is overdone or pretentious. A new favorite."

  • "Great place! Fell in love with the Kobe burger in 2005 and continue to visit the restaurant now 9 years later whenever I have a guest in from out of town. It's just under/in front of the bean, so it's perfect as an intro to Chicago."

  • "Had reservation for post-race brunch/lunch following Shamrock Shuffle. As noted by other reviewers, brunch choices were limited to only 4 items. We passed on brunch and went for the lunch menu. The cheese curds were a tasty appetizer. Two in our party ordered the PG Burger. Burger was good, but fries arrived cold and tasteless. Two others in our party chose the Calistoaga Burger, ordered "medium." One burger arrived perfectly cooked, the other was bordering on uncooked. We sent it back; when it was returned to our table, some of toppings were missing, as if they had been scraped off to put the burger in the microwave. Convenient Millenium Park location, but disappointing dining experience."

  • "Since we were going to a show just a ten minute walk away, we thought two hours for lunch would give us plenty of time. Our four orders were taken very quickly and the appetizer arrived within a reasonable time, and then we waited. After almost 45 minutes, still no food. We watched as people seated after us paid and left. I asked our waitress about our food, only to find out that she had not placed our order. We continued to wait, as fresh bread baskets, for other tables, passed us by. I had to ask a bus boy for some bread. Once the food finally arrived, it was very good, but by this time we only 30 minutes to eat, pay the bill and get to the theater. I want to give this place another try, in hopes that this was rather an anomaly."

  • "Great location, food was comparable to a bad hotel banquet. Out of Items, salad had the lettuce core and steak on salad was not edible."

  • "For a special occasion, we planned to go to brunch at Park Grill. I looked at the menu online and there were only three or four fairly heavy options, but it also said that the menu was seasonal, so I assumed there would be in season additions. There were not. That being said, what we did order was delicious, and our waitress was fantastic, and we loved the restaurant'a goals of providing tasty, local, and sustainable meals. It was a very nice experience."

  • "I came in expecting a little more than what I came out with. The service was alright: waiter was friendly when necessary but mostly absent. Food was served timely and tasted fantastic."

  • "I like my Kobe burger... The bean burger was not much good ... Pretty pricy for uninspired ... Service was very helpful getting out in time for Symphony Hall concert ..."

  • "Park Grill has a tasty, though limited menu. Located behind the Millennium Park skating rink, the restaurant offers a unique view of the city's winter life."

  • "A few years ago I frequented the interior Park Grill restaurant often for lunch and found the food/service/ambience 4 stars. I made a reservation for 8 family memebers for dinner last Decmeber and felt like we were being served by high schoolers and the food was pretty sub par. The server knew nothing about wine, the restaurant was cold, dark, and loud and we were seated right by the front door. Also, one thing to note, there have two unisex bathroom stalls. Prepare to wait in line. That in and of itself is extremely unpleasant and I dont think I'll be returning. They do have a great outdoor space with views in the summer for drinks or lunch. But, I would just go for a drink...don't expect much if you dine there."

  • "Park Grill Chicago is a sophisticated yet comfortable restaurant. The food is prepared well and the service is friendly and attentive. The wait staff is personable and the food selections are very tasty and innovative. It was great fun to watch the skaters -- including a couple who got engaged on the ice -- from a window table. I'm looking forward to eating there when the skating rink is transformed into outdoor dining."

  • "The Park Grill offered a neutral location friendly meeting spot, with plenty of ambiance that filled our needs to meet and greet new members into our circle. The food was good, the atmosphere welcoming and very easy to converse and hear, and most of all the staff was most attentive, as they were there when you needed, but not overly hovering and intrusive. Portion size was agreeable, and the wine list adequate, this is not a high gourmet foodie hangout, its a decent place to meet people and enjoy the company coupled with decent food and drink."

  • "My husband and I went for my 30th birthday. We're somewhat close to the city so I don't consider us tourists by any means but this restaurant is the perfect place to people watch; especially in the winter (when the ice skating rink is open). We each had a steak - him, prime rib with horseradish and I has the NY Strip Steak (both cooked medium with a red win reduction). They were equally delicious and tender. We also had a side order of the PG mashed potatoes (light garlic flavor, red potatoes). Our service was wonderful and prompt. We'd come back just for the steak (I'd compare the quality to Gibsons, Chicago Cut). A previous time I was here I ordered the Chicken Cesar salad and it was so good. Large portions and perfectly cooked chicken."

  • "The food and service were fantastic. They were out of two dishes but had plenty else available. The flat breads were a great way to start the meal at a good size with eight portions and are worth your time. The burgers and Arrachera Torta were amazing, and definitely outshined the pastas. The prices were very reasonable given the quality of food and service. If dining Friday or Saturday evening consider reserving as it gets quite busy."

  • "The ambience was perfect. We were shown a table to sit at, but when we requested a booth, it was accommodated. The food was delicious. Best calimari I have ever had! Server a little slow in taking our order, but it was a busy night. Loved the scenic view of ice skaters....almost felt like I was in another city. I only wish I hadn't been so full, I would have had dessert."

  • "Chicago Park Grill was great! We truly enjoyed ourselves and everyone that worked there was so nice. From the hostesses who greeted us to the waiter that served us everyone was great. Stanley was a our waiter and he was truly awesome. He made us feel very comfortable and gave us some great suggestions. The food was so good we can't wait to go back and order more."

  • "We love going to the Park Grill during the winter. This time everyone skated and then we had lunch or brunch with our daughter, her husband, and their two school-age children. The kids have a favorite booth and waiter and they were thrilled that they were accommodated. The food is always good and this time was no exception. For us, it's a neighborhood restaurant and the service is always excellent."

  • "When we entered the restaurant, the ambiance was wonderful. We had a reservation and was seated very quickly. That was the good part. However, she didn't smile and wasn't the friendliest host. After being seated the waiter have my girlfriend a rose which was nice because it was valentines day. After that everything went down hill. The food was great but the waiter didn't check on us one time. He only came to bring the bill and collect the payment. Also my water kept running out and I had to drink my girlfriends water because he was nowhere in site. I think it is a good restaurant but maybe they should give their employees some customer service training. For that was the negative in my experience."

  • "We we delayed, but had notified the restaurant of our late arrival and the restaurant held our reservation. We'd asked for a quiet corner as both my husband and I wear hearing aids, but were taken to a booth out in the open, near the live music. It turned out that table had already been given to someone else and just after we were seated the party returned to the table very upset. Eventually that was straightened out and we were moved to a booth in the corner. So all's well that ends well. My husband enjoys sampling beers and the beer list didn't disappoint him. I had a wonderful beet and frisee salad and seared tuna. It was lovely to look out the window and watch the skaters in the park."

  • "Valentine's Day is expected to be a special occasion, but one doesn't always plan ahead as one should. It was great to be able to get a reservation at the last moment and get a rose for my Valentine besides. The food was good as it always is. Watching the skaters out the window on a cold winter night was also very nice."

  • "We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner at Park Grill for Valentine's Day. Giving the rose to us was a nice touch. It was a cold winter night and the fireplace was relaxing, the food delicious and the service couldn't have been better."

  • "We arrived earlier than our reservation and we were seated immediately; which was nice. Staff was friendly and professional. Food was good, soup could have been warmer in temperature, especially since it was seafood."

  • "I really enjoyed dinner here last night. It was meant to be an early Valentine's dinner with my wife. I had the salmon, and it was REALLY GOOD! I'd definitely order it again. We had a table that looked out at the ice skating rink that was lit up for the night! A wonderful experience!"

  • "It had been a while since I had dined at Park Grill. I took my partner there for dinner for his birthday on Saturday, February 1, 2014. I must say that the service (waiter) was outstanding. He was very versed in the wine list, menu options, specials and most of all very attentive to our presence. The food was mediocre. Overall the dining experience was pleasant, the food was a disappointment."

  • "It was my first time there and I was very satisfied. I thought the food was great and I would definitely consider going back again. The menu had plenty of options and the food came quickly. Tasty, unique, and was just the right amount. My only problem was the that service was just moderate and could of been improved. Everyone there was friendly but it took awhile for the waiter to take our order as well as for the food to come out. Other than that it was great, the beer battered cheese curds were my favorite!"
