Diner Reviews
  • "The Park Grill is in a wonderful location, right in the heart of Millennium Park. How does such a wonderful location with a GREAT view manage to have poor service, poor food quality and the bathrooms are worse than the public bathrooms in the park. The service people seem to operate on a very slow pace with "bare" minimum. Owners need to pick it up and clean up the place...poor all the way around. Very disappointing."

  • "The food was tasteless, we had a falafel sandwich which was extremely dry and bland and a salmon with risotto which was tasteless as well"

  • "We asked for an outdoor table but refused the one given to us honoring our reservation. There was a band playing for the next door venue and conversation would have been impossible. Servers were pleasant and gave us a table indoors which we appreciated. Great place to eat before the Grant Park concerts."

  • "We chose Park Grille for it's menu and rave reviews. We were seated on time and had a great booth tucked away from the door. The food was incredible (we both had fish, I had the whitefish and he had the tuna). We chose a bottle of wine that ended up being unavailable, but the sommelier was fantastic and recommended a spectacular bottle of Chardonnay. Everything about the dinner and ambiance was fantastic except the service. Our waiter was not attentive or professional. It took 1 hour to place our order, he never introduced himself so we still don't know his name, we had to ask for our utensils, and when we needed something he was never to be found. We would most definitely come back but avoid being seated at his tables."

  • "The food was great. We came to celebrate our anniversary--which we have celebrated at the Park Grill for a number of years. Then we went to the symphony concert at Millennium Park. (That was fabulous). But the service was almost awful. Very slow, not responsive except for the fellow who kept filling up our water glasses. The waiter could have been (should have been!) a lot more attentive. This has been the case before as well. Oh, I think for a nice restaurant the waiterS could wear something nicer than jeans under their apron."

  • "Felt like id been there many times before... Comfortable atmosphere, friendly service, delicious food....felt familiar and welcoming"

  • "We were a little disappointed with our experience dining here. For the price of our dinner entrees, I would have expected higher quality food and better service."

  • "I love that they open til 9.30 pm and that they don't rush you out. The maitre d' was gorgeous and the waiters provide excellent service."

  • "3 of us ordered the same crab louis salad. It was supposed to come with apples and tomatoes. Only one of us got tomatoes; the 3 of us got 1 to 3 thin slivers of apple, the rest was yellowing romaine with a good amount of crab on it. There was no bread served at our table (though other tables had it); we had to ask for it 3 times to different wait staff and waited 10-15 minutes before it arrived. Water was never refilled. Waiter was surly."

  • "Understaffed, terrible service, impersonal waiter, when we saw her. Took 10 minutes before we got a glass of water, that was after already asking if we had a server. Once she did come, we were asked immediately for our order. Food was extremely slow to arrive. Once it did, the waitress asked how it was before we even took a bite, then disappeared again for the remainder of our meal. My water glass was empty the entire time I sat there. Very average food. The french fries were pretty gross. Tourist trap. I would NOT recommend this place."

  • "Good food. A little too touristy, though, in terms of atmosphere."

  • "My wife and I chose the park grill for our anniversary dinner and were very pleased. The food was delicious and the staff was friendly and professional. Our server, Wesley, was argent entice without hovering and helped make our experience wonderful."

  • "I'm not sure if I would recommend The Park Grille or not. Everything was okay otherwise, but they were holding a private event in most of the restaurant with a few tables being used to accommodate diners with reservations. So while we were trying to enjoy the our sparkling wine and seasonal risotto, we were in the midst of minglers with name tags holding a celebratory meet-and-greet, complete with the head of the organization acting like a cheerleader, and Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle giving the keynote speech. Really, this event should have been in a private room somewhere or the entire restaurant should have been closed for it. I'm not sure if I will try again to check out the ambience, but this was a disappointment."

  • "We have eaten here many times. I have had the whitefish before but the portion seemed much smaller this time. The waiter said it is supposed to be 6 oz. but I said it looked smaller. She then brought a much larger piece, which was great although strange that the replacement was so much larger. For $24 the portion should have been larger. The beet salad was delicious. The outdoor area is very lovely."

  • "Park Grille has lost its air of class. The booth bench I sat on is torn, badly needs reupholstery. The menu is now encased in greasy-spoon-diner plastic. One waitstaff's jeans seemed to be falling down. The ambience is one of unkemptness."

  • "The server was polite and attentive, however, the french fries were room temp at best."

  • "Dined outside on the covered patio. Music from Millennium Park made it a bit loud, but we were still able to conduct business without shouting. Lunch salads were ample and tasty, and reasonably priced. My only critique is that we were largely ignored before and during our meal. It took a long time to be noticed after all four of us arrived. Meals were served quickly after ordering, but the server never asked if anyone wanted coffee or dessert after lunch. He just dropped the bill on our table."

  • "Good food but service could improve. Outdoor dining is a plus!"

  • "1st visit was wonderful. 2nd visit was disappointing, steak was dry, service kind of slow. Had almost finished my meal before my condiments were brought to my table. Had to request a steak knife."

  • "We had reserved an out-side table without knowing that big tent would be blocking all views of the park and that a charity event was taking place inside the tent. Since we had made this request, I wish the restaurant had given us a little forewarning but we ended up seated inside anyway. I remembered a great meal there several years ago. This one was not quite a good. Wait staff was a little overly-familiar in his friendliness. While I would go back, I probably would stick with the sandwich fare in the future."

  • "I am 20 years old & went to Park Grill last Saturday for dinner with my boyfriend. The food was great & the hostesses were more than polite. Unfortunately, our waiter was less than ideal. First of all, we sat at the table for 15-20 minutes before we even saw our waiter. Finally, when he arrived he soon realized we were a) under drinking age and b) unable to afford the most expensive items on the menu, so he paid us ZERO attention. In fact, after ordering we did not see him again for the remainder of our meal. We even had to ask the bus boy for our check (after waiting another 20 minutes after the table was cleared..!). The meal was great and everyone else was awesome - must've been a dud waiter. (Or maybe just don't go if you're young)."

  • "I don't know if any of the "legal" issues are affecting this place or not...but the hostess was a joke!! I had made my reservation through open table & she looked at me like I wasn't speaking English! After about 5 minutes of her looking she found my reservation and said it would be a 15-20 minute wait or 1/2 hour if we wanted to sit outside. What's the point of having a reservation? We told her 1st available was fine and that we'd wait at the bar. After waiting 1/2 hour we decided to eat at the bar. AFTER our food had arrived the hostess came and asked me if I was Diana...a 46 Y/O male!! Better get people that know what they're doing or there'll be a new place in that spot!!"

  • "Excellent menu. We would definitely return. Excellent food, service, and wonderful atmosphere. We dined with a couple from Alabama and they both commented that they would definitely return for another dining experience."

  • "We ordered the Pork Chop, Chopped Salad, Salmon risotto and Shrimp and Lobster Ballerine. The meat was under-cooked, tough and had a lot of gristle; the Salmon was burned and slapped atop dyed green risotto. The slaw was missing. The pasta was sold out for the day. A substitute pasta was offered. Spaghetti was ordered. We were served about a 1/4 cup of fettuccine with only 3 small shrimp, no lobster, no asparagus. Another pork chop was served instead of the salad. Silverware was dirty. A full plastic water bottle dropped from the terrace above, hit the canopy over our heads and landed on the sidewalk. The waiter laughingly said, " if its anything valuable, they'll be down to get it - incidents like this happen all the time." Beware!"

  • "Very good food, but service that needs improvement. The hostess attempted to seat my party of 2 at a table that blocked the way of the in/out door to the patio (We asked and were moved, but it is still annoying to have been led to this table in the first place while other options were available.) Service was slow, spotty, and unfriendly. We did enjoy our burrata flatbread appetizer and seared ahi tuna entrees. Wish the service matched what else the restaurant offers--great location and food."

  • "Skip this place. Took a group after a theatre performance. We were cramped at a table. Not good seating for bigger groups. The bathrooms were unisex. Yuck. The service was horrible. The drinks were horribly overprice priced and watered down. The food menu was odd for American fare overpriced and was not great. Our group had steak tacos flatbread soup and a pasta dish. The tacos were not good. They in all fairness took them off the bill. The bill was still 185 for a group of six with just a soup flatbread pasta and two rounds of drinks left. I would not ever recommend this place. A miller lite is ten dollars. Skip it. Petterinos is classier better service and cheaper. But you have to make reservations way in advance."

  • "I wasn't to fond of this place. I went right before dinner time placed my order only to find out about 10 minutes later that they had run out of ribs. I chose to leave the restaurant at that point because if I has wanted a burger to begin with I would have just gone to the park plaza across the side walk. Also service was a little on the slower side."
