Diner Reviews
  • "The brunch menu is outstanding, service is exceptional and Edgar Cruz added the right touch."

  • "So happy the 501 crew took this space over. We ate here when we stayed at the hotel 3 years ago doing our reconnaissance visit prior to moving to OKC. Compared to what we were accustomed to in SoCal, it was disappointing. Now there is a hotel restaurant that shows OKC at its best to visitors."

  • "I had picked the Skirvin for a special birthday dinner and had specified a special table for a romantic dinner. First, we arrived and no one was at the hostess station. We finally had to go to the bar to get someone to come out and seat us. The hostess showed us to a table set for 8 people people. I told her that we were just a reservation for two so she randomly picked another table for us (so much for the request). We were placed next to a large round table of people speaking very loudly who fortunately left about 20 minutes after we were seated. I ordered a steak and requested that it be medium and it was medium rare. We did go into the bar afterward...a little noisy, but a fun to people watch and a good selection of drinks."

  • "What a beautiful place to dine. It smelled great too, but your candles are too expensive to buy (because they're not worth $20 for such a tiny size)."

  • "This is the second time my wife and I had a special night out here. The food was exceptional as it was the first time. I would truly recommend this place to anyone. The atmosphere was cozy, with a slight hint of jazz playing in the background. The food was cooked just as requested. They take care in preparing their food, not over spicing it. They are spiced just enough to bring out the true flavor of the dish. A+++++ is my rating."

  • "My wife and I celebrated our 30th last weekend and Brunch @ The Skirvin was our last stop before going home. Price was excellent, total tab was $65 with tip. The servers were great!! The food selection, presentation and taste was fantastic! Portions were geared toward being able to select more than one entree to sample and that was what we were looking for. We are long time Sunday Brunch Buffet fans. Being able to order specific items, freshly prepared and served was so much better than a buffet. My wife and I have recommended this to everyone we have had a chance to and we plan on making it a once or twice a month Sunday Brunch stop with family members and/or friends."

  • "We were celebrating our anniversary. We stayed at the hotel, which was very nice, and the restaurant was fantastic! The food was well prepared and delicious, the wine list was good and priced well. They treated us to dessert and the crème brulee was superb. Thank you!"

  • "The Skirvin Hotel is symbolic of Oklahoma City's renaissance, with a beautifully redone interior, including the Grill. We enjoyed the tasteful decor and were relieved that the music was pleasing in volume and in genre (jazz). The service was attentive and prompt, but unfortunately, the food was not up to our expectations. When fish is ordered and it comes out overcooked, not even a nice presentation can overcome it. Perhaps other dishes are better.... When they can recruit an "A" team staff in the kitchen, this will be a place we will try again, but until then, the competition will provide a superior overall experience."

  • "I ate at PAG with a group of 8. First, let me say that the service was amazing. Our meals came out all together and whenever I needed anything, the wait staff was there and responded immediately. They really pushed the duck "nachos", I think perhaps because they wanted to finish off some leftover duck. It was firm and dry, and the cheese on the chips was not even melted. Bad choice. The calamari was excellent with a light breading. The tuna tartare was also delicious, but a small portion for an appetizer. My dinner of butter fish and lobster risotto was very disappointing. Small piece of fish and sticky risotto with no visible lobster. The port wine reduction was way too sweet for a dish like that. The steaks looked great though."

  • "Good way to get ready for a Thunder Game. Good Food and service. Easy walk to the game or take the Limo if you prefer."

  • "Unfortunately, the only thing we will not forget is that we will never return. In short, the bread was nearly burnt and impossible to separate at the table with the equipment provided. The meal was simple and presentation was OK, but I don't believe that anything was seasoned... at all, including what was called "butter potato mash", that taste like a bake potato with no toppings. Cheever's Cafe has a risotto that puts the "lobster risotto" here to SHAME. While one of our two steaks was not cooked to our request the flavor was just not there. A short walk to Red Prime would have been a wise choice. This meal did not get our night off to a good start and unfortunately could have been made better by dining at IHOP, which is sad really."

  • "I cannot fully explain the shortcomings in 750 characters. On arrival it was made known that there was a fixed 70$ menu for the night. The waiter was likely the same hack that brings out the morning buffet, food was either burnt or undercooked, & was brought during the middle of the last course. The check was dropped off by another waiter, & my date wasn't given a rose- something I wouldn't have been concerned about except after seeing one be brought to every other table. This is a hotel breakfast buffet that once a year tries to capitalize on it's name & be a overpriced restaurant. A attempt was made to contact mgmt but I was forwarded to voicemail. Better places I have been for the same price or less in OKC: Mahogany's, Cheevers, Vast."

  • "The Skirvin Hotel immediately gives you a romantic feel the moment you enter. The restaurant staff were very friendly, attentive, and informative. It was a very quiet atmosphere where you could easily here all those around the table. It was a delightful evening."

  • "Came in for a special evening. Was greeted and seated in a professional manner. Our waiter, Michael, was alright, that is until a table of women came in. Then his attention went straight to them. We asked him about sides with our entrees, which he was unable to answer. When our food came out, he did ask how our food was. The food was absolutely horrible, and after explaining to him, he just kind of laughed it off and walked away. Then we overheard his discussion with the table of ladies beside us where he totally was able to explain the sides of their entrees and made sure they got them, unlike us. I was so upset we just paid and left."

  • "Very good service, food, and ambiance. Allow yourself time to enjoy the whole experience. We enjoyed sharing the Ahi Tar Tar and the beet salad even more than the entrees which were great!"

  • "We usually go the Park Avenue Grill when we see a play through Celebrity Attractions. This was truly the best meal ever. 4 of us had different entrees and they were each outstanding. The service was outstanding. We had a leisure dinner that took us (our choice) about 2 1/2 hours. There was no rushing. They were willing to accomodate our changes to the menu and had great recommendations. The only thing missing was they no longer had their shrimp cocktail on the menu. They assured us they hope to add it in the future. I had the butter fish entree and this was truly one of the best fish entrees I have had in Oklahoma City. We can't wait to eat there again! Marcus Corportation --- keep up the good work!"

  • "Location, ambiance, service, and tasty, well-presented and perfectly served food make the Park Avenue Grill perfect for an important business luncheon. Handy for Downtown denizens, easy to find for visitors, and made wonderfully accessible by complimentary valet parking just steps away from the dining room, the restaurant could not be more convenient. The decor and table settings raise expectations for a fine dining experience and the menu, food quality and service make good on the promise. The dining room is quiet and sufficiently spacious to allow private conversation. Should also be great for romantic dinner or Sunday brunch. A sterling asset for Downtown OKC!"

  • "Had a great looking room for our group of 12. Waitress was attentive but because she was working alone, orders took a long time and food took too long to arrive. Then there was a computer prob so our checks took what seems like 45 min to get to us. Granted we didn't start our orders until 830, food came out at 930..and we finally left at 11 due to computer glitch. Most orders were fair in taste which was way too pricey for what it tasted like. If the food was good, everything would have been more enjoyable and I would not have minded the price because it was a nice place."

  • "My wife and I were celebrating our 38th anniversary this weekend. On our wedding night we arrived at the Skirvin too late and were told that the kitchen had already closed. This year, my wife ordered the spinich salad as her entree -- the kind with the spinich, boiled egg, and warm bacon dressing. When it arrived it looked like mixed greens. When questioned, the waitress assured her the spinich was mixed in. As our dinner ended my wife reported again to the waitress that this was the worst spinich salad she had ever had and was able to eat very little of it. The kitchen ultimately confessed there was no spinich in her spinich salad. Re-experiencing the unresolved hunger experience of 38 years ago -- memorable and priceless!"

  • "This is our second time to eat here. The first time, we thought the steaks were as good as most we've had in OKC. Used the valet parking - no problem. This time there was nothing available in valet, so took the spouse quite a while to get parked and get back to restaurant while I went in and ordered due to being on the way to an event. This time I tried something besides the steak. The butter fish was tasty and well-prepared, but was a pretty small portion. The accompanying lobster risotto was too salty in my opinion. However, the salad with the pears and arugula was excellent. As sides to the steaks were priced separately, we found it to be a little higher-priced compared to what we can get for what we spend at similar quality restaurants."

  • "We arrived at 6pm for valet parking as every piece of mail I had recieved from them told me I simply HAD TO DO! Valet guy told me they had no parking spots. So I drove around the block and paid for public parking and walked back. Got to the matre' di station and no one was there. A waitress breezed by us on her way to the Piano lounge carrying a pizza. She said "I'll be right back". She never came back. After AT LEAST ten to fifteen minutes someone else came out to seated us. Then after meeting with a very pleasant waitress and ordering in a normal manner we began our long long wait. The place was most empty and yet our feed never seemed to come back. We eventually were served at 7:10 - more than an hour after our arrival. We won't be back"

  • "Going to the Park Avenue Grill for New Years Eve has been something my family has done for the last 5 years. We thought about trying something different this year, but we are glad we didn't. This year, the food was by far the best we have had. The fixed menu was elegant but not pretentious. I would really have to say the menu choices were perfect. The price compared to other restaurant options we considered were by far the most reasonable. I would highly recommend the Park Avenue Grill!!"

  • "We had the special New Years Menu. There were 4 of us dining, and all of us were pleased and impressed with our various meals. The dessert were just okay. Service was just okay to somewhat lacking. Free champagne in the lobby and at dinner was a fun touch."
    Dined on 12/31/2013
  • "The fixed menu was marginal and the service was very poor. Our server quoted us one price for the fixed menu but once the bill came it was almost twice the price. We had our first course before we got water and our drinks. The restaurant has promise but is most probably better on a regular night as opposed to new years eve. The restaurant wasn't that busy so we don't understand the bad service."

  • "After the hustle and bustle of Christmas parties, shopping, concerts, family gatherings, etc...a nice and quiet brunch at the Skirvin Park Avenue Grill was an exceptional experience on Christmas day. Everything was outstanding. If there was only one negative, it would be that the entrée was served before the salad was consumed. Silly preference I have when eating in courses, but it still was not a problem. Loved it and it will probably become a new annual tradition for me and my husband."

  • "Nice place, ggd foof with good service. Christmas meal very good, but too expensive."
    Dined on 12/25/2013
  • "Definitely fine dinning. The food was good, but the portions were small. Server was friendly. We went there for a "Girls day out" Christmas lunch. We were disappointed when our server informed us we would not be able to order "girly" drinks for our celebration, because their bar was not open. This is a four star hotel and it's the holiday season, it is odd that they wouldn't have the bar open to service the guests in the restaurant. We went to another restaurant for drinks and desert after we left the Skirvan."

  • "Everything you would expect in a fine dining experience without a suit and tie. Great cuts of beef and extraordinary sides. I strongly suggest the Beef Tenderloin and Sauteed Mushrooms. This will be a place I return again and again."
    Dined on 12/21/2013
  • "Never going back. Expected a high-end meal for a romanic evening and received the opposite. The server would take a drink order and then not be seen for 20-30 minutes. Our wines empty she returned with a sort of concrete encrusted sourdough with a large portion of flour in its base. Clearly improperly mixed. The whole experience was as if the chef didn't care anymore that the vanishing waitstaff who could be clearly heard laughing and cutting up in the kitchen area. Our server would disappear for 30 minutes at a time. When the food arrive, the ribeye was loaded with veins of gristle. My wife's tenderloin was good however. The side of mushrooms were good but our potatoes were room temperature at best. I will never return nor recommend PAG."

  • "Loved the setting, the ambiance, the food, the service etc. It was like being somewhere else for a little while. Felt like going back in time to a romantic and slower pace. We were all dressed up and found some fabulous photo opportunities with the beautiful Hotel decor.."

  • "Despite a reservation, it took 5 minutes to "set up our table". It was 10 minutes before our waiter arrived. People who arrived after us, were served before us. The onion soup, fish tacos and fries were good; however, the BLT sandwich and spinach with bacon vinagrette salad dressing were very poor. Although the three of us work downtown, none of us have a strong urge to return anytime in the near future."
    Dined on 12/17/2013
  • "The food was incredible. However, we had a late evening reservation (8:45 pm) because we had drove from Santa Fe and got checked into the hotel late. We were a table of 2 and there was only 1 other table with 2 women. The waitress would disappear to the back for long periods of time. The other table even had to ask for the waitress several times. The waitress acted like these 2 tables were an inconvenience to her......maybe she was anxious to go home???? We would have been glad to have gone to a different restaurant if we would have known we would be treated so terrible. Thank goodness for the good food! Praise to the Chef at least!"
    Dined on 11/30/2013
  • "I ordered the vegetables and they were not seasoned very well at all. The chicken was good. The beet salad was too sugary. The fruit tart did not have enough different kinds of fruit for this kind of restaurant."
    Dined on 12/3/2013
  • "Appetizer was burnt. Main course was average. Mashed potatoes were ala carte, which is fine, except they tasted like they were instant. Service was pathetic. We were there early (with reservations) so that we could attend a concert later. There were two other tables occupied in the entire restaurant. The server acted as if she were in a hurry or that we were distracting her from something else she wanted/needed to do elsewhere (although WE were HER only table). Will never go back."
    Dined on 11/30/2013
  • "The rolls were fresh and hot. The grilled romaine salad was flavorful but just OK. My wife's flat iron steak had little flavor... she had to add salt and my ribeye had an odd taste not customary of a fine steak... not sure what it was. My wife mentioned her steak also had a weird after-flavor, almost like the meat was old. The gnocchi had a good flavor but the best thing we ate were the sauteed mushrooms. Our server was attentive gave us good service but was not very friendly."
    Dined on 11/30/2013
  • "The food was very good. Very nice setting and ambience was excellent. Unfortunately, the service was very much in the fair to poor range. This is very odd since they were not just slammed busy, as one might expect on Thanksgiving Day. As people are working on Thanksgiving, you hate to be to harsh. We still left a nice tip, although it would have been much better if the service had not have been so POOR. We had to ask for our check twice and our server who came to the table on three separate occasions, simply refused to take away the plates and clear the table. I would expect to eventually get the table cleared in an IHOP. To receive this type of service at a restaurant of this caliber on a meal of this magnitude is VERY disappointing!"
