Chance Bear did another excellent job for lunch this past week. I had a well prepared pear and walnet salad with grilled chicken that was excellent while my guest had the special of the day"Goulosh" While I am not a big van of goulosh my guest said it was outstanding and took what he couldn't finish home for dinner that evening. I would highlly recommend this restaurant anytime any place.

We had a party of 5 for lunch, we got there just as the doors opened for the lunch service. The dining area is a big open space but there is an alcove by the front windows where we were seated the space was overall nice but felt a little cramped but it was good to have that space for the reduced noise level. I had the grilled ham and swiss with french fries and it was very good, my coworkers didn't seem as thrilled with their salads. Do note... if you go there for dinner the lunch menu is VERY different. Dinner seems to be fancier. I may push this up to a 4 star or 5 with a dinner service.

  • One of better places in Syracuse

Dined with three women friends. We were all "fussy" in our own ways, asked lots of questions and were treated very well despite it! I thought the food was very very good and there aren't many restaurants in Syracuse that I think are really up to snuff despite the wealth of good fresh local ingredients. We each got different dishes so we were able to sample each other's dinners ad I would have been happy with any one of them. Don't know why this place is not more popular! I would definitely eat here again.

Second time at this restaurant and another great meal. Food was great and the server suggested the perfect wine to go with our meal. Meal was so good we didn't leave room for dessert, but we'll be back and make sure we save room next time. I had one of the specials which was halibut. cooked perfectly!! Definitely be back. Great little gem on Montgomery!

  • Nice Spot for Sunday Brunch

Went for brunch after my son's graduation at Syracuse University. It's a short drive from campus, and on a Sunday you can find street parking. It was pleasant, there was a good choice of brunch dishes and we all agreed it was a relaxing place where you could hold a conversation. The home fries are great. It's not a big room, though, so I'm glad we made reservations on OpenTable in advance. Moderate prices, too! Recommended for parents visiting their Syracuse students -- much less hectic than Marshall Street.

While at the OnCenter for a dance competition, I thought I could get away for a brunch with my dancer. Doing a local search Parisa came up with high reviews for their food quality and brunch. Went to open table and boom, got a table at the perfect time. Checked out the menu on line and when we sat down we were able to immediately order, given our tight time frame. Even WIth special requests the order came quickly and we were out in 35 minutes. The fritatta was fantastic, I think a little heavy on the meat. My daughter had the benedict which was very lemony but tasty. Service was fantastic. Great place, look forward to next time

Our second time at Parisa. We dined before going to the Opera. The place was full of like minded people. The wait staff were a little harried by all the people wanting to dine at the same time but they coped well. The ambiance is pleasant but nothing special. I had the Seared Halibut special and it was excellent. My wife had the Duck at it was nothing special. For dessert we had their house made carrot cake and creme brulee which was similarly excellent and so so respectively. The wine list is small and reasonably priced. We had a bottle of Hermann Wiemer Fingerlakes Riesling. Quite good. They do not have an expresso machine but the drip coffee was very good. Overall it came to $130 with tip which is quite reasonable.

The atmosphere and food were amazing. Everyone in our party was very pleased with their dinner selections. If you are looking for a wait staff that hovers over you, this is not the place for you. It was very nice to not feel like we were being rushed out the door. When we needed something, it was provided. But we were left to relax and enjoy our meal. The prices are a little too high to become a regular choice, but well worth it for special occasions. The Grilled Vegetable Tower was a little over priced compared to the other choices. For a few dollars more, you could get a steak. The price was a little unreasonable for vegetables. However, my wife said that it was very good.

This restaurant's new chef this has an interesting Perisian-influenced menu. The limited menu features predominately beef dishes with a fish and poultry choice. The tuna entree was perfectly prepared and delicious. Server was very helpful, attentive and friendly. In a low traffic section of downtown, hopefully word of mouth will increase patronage allowing this small, local gem to thrive.

I've been waiting to try this place forever, and it did not disappoint. A lovely Easter brunch, with wonderful, personable (attentive, not overbearing) service. The grilled lamb and eggs and mimosas were favorites with my family. Mine choice was the best Belgian waffle I've ever tasted. So light and delicious. We'll be back for dinner and dessert. Can't wait to try the Persian-influenced dishes.

We were a party of five. The wait staff was cordial, helpful and friendly. We all appreciated the two additional entree items offered that evening. The shrimp were very good. The short rib soup was excellent. The Persian meatballs were tasty. The steak and Mahi Mahi were delicious. The desserts were EXCELLENT; chocolate cake and creme brule. The carrot cake was more like a spice rum cake. All in all a great dining experience.

It is nice to have the Persian restaurant in Syracuse. We were there when the restaurant offered only the 3 course menu which was interesting enough that we did not have problem of what to order. The cuisine was similar to Ottoman empire cuisine we experienced in Turkey. Grilled shrimp and Persian meatballs for appetizers were very good. Persian soup had unigue flavor. Short ribs and salmon for main course were cooked with some flavorful but mild spices. Wine selection was limited but reasonable priced. The front small partitioned room became claustrophobic when all 4 tables were occupied, although the main dining room and bar looked spacious. Service was professional and personable at the beginning but less so when they were busy.

The food was delicious and unique. I loved the middle eastern spices. I even ordered dessert, which I rarely do. The server said every dessert was made on the premises that day. I highly recommend the pear tart - yummy. The menu is quite small- a few more entree choices would be nice.

We ate there during Dining Week so there was a limited menu. Both entrees were delicious, particularly the salmon dish. The salads were very fresh with a delicious homemade dressing in the side. The fried zucchini appetizer (billed a being similar to tempura) was too heavy and greasy. The shrimps skewers were much better. Service was quick, although rather businesslike rather than being casual and friendly. The small room in which we were seated was a bit too cozy since there was a larger group at one of the tables which made the space a bit noisy. Would have been better with just tables of couples or maybe a threesome. Other than that, the atmosphere reminded me of dining in small cares in Paris.

I was looking for an early dinner and came across several favorable reviews and thought I would give it a try. It was previously Brickyard Alley which I thought was fairly mediocre and lacking in its accoutrements. Parisa is much better. The food was excellent and a fairly good wine selection. Our party had either the Short Ribs or the Lamb and both were excellent. I also should mention our service was excellent; attentive, informative but not over the top. We will be returning.

A friend and I recently went to Parisa for the first time, encouraged by "Dining Week" and an article in the local paper. Parisa surpassed our expectations! The food was delicious and beautifully presented, the facility charming, the pesonable owner came to our table a few times to check on us and talk about the food, and also to share with us the history of the building and his labor of love in restoring the old brick walls. Our waiter Daniel provided the best service I have ever had in the Syracuse area; attentive, professional, helpful with menu suggestions and his knowledge of the menu, relacing silver; truly the best! I'll be back!

Walked in and waited at the entry way for about 1 minute. There were only three tables seated and a waitress walked past us without acknowledging us. After walking by a second time the waitress said, "Hello," and asked us if we had a reservation (we did), but we stood there waiting to be seated. Eventually our waiter pointed us to our table. The restaurant was mostly empty on a Friday night. We found the service to be less than punctual, but extremely friendly. The food was outstanding. Food-wise this is the best restaurant I have been to in Syracuse. What it lacked that night in "atmosphere" it made up for in the flavors of its dishes (I had roasted lamb over mashed potatoes, my date had fried Haddock over seafood mac & cheese).
