A word from Paris Club Bistro and Bar
Paris Club Bistro & Bar is Back! Gone is the industrial dining room, replaced with a warmer and more intimate setting. Plush leather booths, rich wood paneling and antique brass chandeliers create an environment of 1920s Paris. To further celebrate traditional France, Chef Partner Doug Psaltis and Executive Chef Christian Eckmann have focused on assembling a menu of celebrated classics like Hand-Cut Steak Tartare, French Onion Soup, Chateaubriand and Dover Sole Meunière.

Food is also typical with several versions of steak frites, mussels, escargot, roast chicken etc. French wine list has some good values. My wife and I have gone 3 or 4 times and the food is consistently high quality, well prepared and served."

  • "Love the new décor. It is very cozy, elegant and intimate. Malory was a knowledgeable and attentive waitress. They have these delicious warm cheese puff pastries (COMPLEMENTRY) that melt in your mouth. I told her I loved them and she brought me more. The steak and frite with the bearnise sauce was very well prepared. There were other dinner selections I can't wait to try. To top off my night the manager sent over a small éclair because in visiting my table I made the comment to him that the dessert list looked great but I did not have room for a full dessert. The dinner made me feel special and isn't that what dining is about."

  • "Tried this restaurant new for our anniversary. We have enjoyed other French restaurants in Chicago and this one was just as great! Delicious food (we shared the orange spiced duck), old Paris atmosphere, wonderful service. We would come back for a romantic night. I thought the servings of food were larger than most French restaurants. A little too much for me, but others may prefer that."

  • "This was my first visit to the Paris Club and also a memorable one. It had a very intimate atmosphere, mostly romantic in décor and lighting. Seeing a lot of couples dining in there accentuated that kind of atmosphere. The food was expensive, but the taste and amount of it was worth it. I couldn't eat there once a month, but I wish I could. The waitress was extremely knowledgeable, answered all questions asked. and was very attentive to our needs. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who likes good French food and French wine, especially if you want to go for a special occasion and go to a special place."

  • "It was a birthday celebration for me. For starters we had the berkshire ham and the Frisee lardon salad. The bacon on the salad that looked like croutons was amazing! For our entrees, my husband had the Steak Frites and I had the Garlic roast chicken with pommes puree. The chicken was the best roast or sauteed chicken I've ever had. The sauce was to die for. The mashed potatoes was also very good. The wait staff did a great job too. They were attentive without being obtrusive. For dessert, the staff brought out a surprise profiteroles with a lit up candle. They made my birthday dinner very special."

  • "I went with my family to The Paris Club to have a birthday dinner for my wife. Her birthday was on Bastille Day and so we chose the Paris Club in hopes of some added fun. Sadly, the restaurant was not actively participating in the French celebration, but the dinner was still really good. Our waitress was very warm, professional and attentive. Our one complaint was the "frites" that came with the traditional French steak frites were really thicker soft fries and not the authentic thin and crisp "frites" of France."

  • "We were fans of Brasserie Jo but didn't like the first Paris Club. Too loud and noisy. The New version of Paris Club is the best of the old with a little Mon Ami Gabi thrown in. The dining room is a comfortable old fashioned room, dark wood, white tablecloths, big banquettes and tables with enough space you aren't sharing a conversation with the next table. Background music is retro but not loud. Service was excellent, attentive and nicely paced. Food is standard bistro fare, nothing experimental or daring, but well prepared and presented. Something old is something new."

  • "The service at Paris Club is just wonderful. We came for dinner to celebrate a birthday. We were seated right away, and were immediately brought a lovely amuse bouche from the kitchen. Our waiter was very knowledgeable, helping us select a lovely wine to accompany our meal. The French Onion soup was spectacular, as was the Moules Frites and the Lobster Risotto with black truffles. They also remembered that it was a birthday dinner, and brought us a dessert compliments of the house. Overall, we enjoyed a fabulous evening and we can't wait to go back again!"

  • "Our meal was delicious. The onion soup was exceptionally sweet and the frisee salad had huge chunks of lardons that were crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. The lardons, combined with the crunchy frisee and the oozy poached egg, made one great salad. We shared a special- lobster risotto. It was also delicious, but the kitchen made a mistake in the preparation, and we had to wait almost a half hour for our entree. Other than that delay, our meal was delightful."

  • "The quality and flavor of the food was excellent. We all enjoyed what we ordered, but were looking to order a few more sides and struggled to find healthier options except for the raw bar. The menu did not have a lot of variety. We were trying to order things on the healthier side. We tried to order a side order of asparagus at 6:15 PM in the evening the had none left. Really in the summer in the early evening? They did not have a lot variety for vegetable selection except the mushrooms which were 12.95 and although delicious a very tiny order.for a French bistro I found it to be just average in terms of selection."

  • "Disappointed in the quality of the food (fish and steak) for the over-inflated prices. We had to wait a long time for our food and then it was dried out. If they offered more generous sides with the meats/fish, it would make the restaurant more generous as it should be. It wasn't particularly French, either. This restaurant should study the workings of Mon Ami Gabi and try to be more like that, quality-wise. Even the bread was not as good as the baguette brought to the table at Mon Ami."

  • "My wife suggested Paris Club for our annual dinner with our dear friend, a teacher of mine in the mid-seventies. Paris Club was a perfect setting for an intimate and festive occasion. Our waiter was engaging and top notch, the food superb from start to finish - the scallops with morel mushrooms was fabulous. Highly recommend it for special evenings, or if people are in the mood to treat themselves to a terrific dinner."

  • "The food was great, portions were healthy; but not too much, & the service was impeccable. I was on a second date and this place is a wonderful date spot, romantic, quite. My one major issue was that when I booked I asked in the notes for reservations for Studio Paris (the trendy bar upstairs) for drinks after, something my date really wanted. When I arrived the host and GM explained that the two entities were separate, nothing he could do, and that if it wasn't a Saturday he would be able to walk me over. However no less than a half an hour later he (the GM) made arrangements for an entire birthday party to go upstairs. I am former service industry and know all about elite nightclubs. I was very disappointed to say the least in the GM."

  • "My wife and I went here for her Birthday and the experience was amazing. Before we had even entered we ran into Chicago Bears linebacker Lance Briggs. Upon entering our table was ready right at 9 so they directed us toward the bar for a cocktail on them. Once we were seated the menu was explained well and the experience began very well. I had the Salmon and my wife "played it safe" with the roasted Chicken. Both dishes were amazing, the salmon was especially tasty. I would not only recommend this to friends and family but will most definitely be back for further enjoyment myself."

  • "The new Paris Club retains it's good food and good service. The wine list is way over priced with only about 10 very average wines under the $100 dollar mark. That said, what I loved about the old Paris Club was the energy and the feel of the place, it had a vibrancy that few restaurants achieved while also having outstanding food. They have completely lost that with the new renovation. While the new place is nice, it feels rather blah now, old. The also lost a few of the standouts from their previous menu....the short ribs, the charcuterie, and the mussel starters to name a few."

  • "My wife and I heard about the Paris Club Bistro from friends. It's in an area north of the river where you can find other fun and somewhat trendy eateries. We're not young kids but we found the energy level to be fun and not obnoxious. We were seated at a comfortable booth in the bar area. Our server was very knowledgeable and gave us the perfect level of service: always there when we needed her and never there when we didn't. I had the special crab risotto and it was fantastic. Great specialty cocktails, good wine list although it was exclusively French which seemed like an affectation but it was kind of fun to get out of my comfort zone. Other reviewers have found the place pretentious but we did not agree. We'll be back!"

  • "This was our first time at The Paris Club and we loved it! Sat at the bar and had some raw oysters and Chamagne to start. They have specialty cocktails and an all-French wine list. Moved into the dining room for dinner. Again, the menu is very bistro authentic. My husband had a wonderful steak frites and my halibut was delicious. We were there for a pre-theater meal and the service was fantastic. Lots of nice touches. We will definitely go back. We were just in Paris last November, and this place is the real deal!"

  • "I really love everything about the Paris Club. The food is always amazing and they have exceptional wait staff. Tuesday night we sat next to a ridiculous couple who sent everything back and nothing was good enough (seriously, she had asparagus on top of her fish, which is a signature dish...she could have pushed it aside but said it "ruined her fish"). Since the tables are so close we heard it all. The waiter and the maitre d were so accommodating and brought them dessert as an apology. We jokingly told our waiter that they really should bring dessert to the people who love their restaurant..the table next to us agreed. The manager brought us a coconut chocolate eclair which we shared with our other dining neighbors. Love this place!"

  • "After my wife and I were told that we were 'slated' for a table (despite our request to wait for a booth), we were surprised to see that the party of 2 that walked in after us were able to sit at a booth. Our table was in the backroom, away from all the activity and energy in the main dining room - away from the booths that we sought. The hostess had a sour look on her face, and an even worse attitude (snotty would be a nice way to describe her demeanor). Once we did sit down, practically on top of the 2 tables next to us, we waited longer than usual for our waitress - however, once we did have our food, she came by to check on us a few times. The food, however, lacked enough seasoning, and was small portion-wise."

  • "Was looking forward to having my favorite dish of moules & frites. They were out @ 6:30 pm on a Tuesday!!!!! Settled for steak & frites. Steak was flavorful and cooked as ordered. Fries were nice and hot. Onion soup was a little bland. Wouldn't order it again."

  • "We ordered two signatures dishes that have been on the menu for a number of years. Each disappointed. At 6:40pm we were informed that there were no more mussels for the evening. That reflects a lack of proper planning and ordering. The trout dish was served with a preparation that was not on the menu. The server returned it to the kitchen. A manager delivered the proper preparation with his apology. When asked how this could happen, he was at a loss. He said the same person has been at that food station in the kitchen for the past 3 years. My guess is that someone else prepared the dish improperly. Chef Joho would have been appalled that anything like would leave his kitchen. Our compensation? A dessert to share. Not sufficient."

  • "In my second time at this restaurant it only got better. The room was conversation friendly and the atmosphere is subdued and charming. Our fantastic server was attentive but not overbearing. She knew the menu and food selections really well and gave us terrific suggestions. Great wines by the glass. The food was fantastic - succulent roasted chicken with a flavorful sauce. This came with the most delicious mashed potatoes I think I've ever had. My companion enjoyed one of the best looking steak frites I've ever tasted! Three different sauces accompany the dish as well as fries that are out of this world. No room for dessert, but we'll be back! Just a perfect experience all around. The price point is very reasonable as well!"
