A word from Paris Club Bistro and Bar
Paris Club Bistro & Bar is Back! Gone is the industrial dining room, replaced with a warmer and more intimate setting. Plush leather booths, rich wood paneling and antique brass chandeliers create an environment of 1920s Paris. To further celebrate traditional France, Chef Partner Doug Psaltis and Executive Chef Christian Eckmann have focused on assembling a menu of celebrated classics like Hand-Cut Steak Tartare, French Onion Soup, Chateaubriand and Dover Sole Meunière.

Rediscover Paris.

Diner Reviews
  • "Surprisingly, the kinks are with the backwaiter service. Everyone else was on point, but we waited a while for bread service. Also, when we needed a few more slices to soak up some of the yummy mussels broth from our appetizer, we got it 10 minutes later, which was just as the entrees were being brought out and the mussels broth was no longer warm. I don't fault the server...she was the one who brought it. I fault her support system, which could've easily taken care of the job for her A LOT sooner."

  • "While I did not find Paris Club notable for any of the reasons in question 2, the restaurant is quite good and the prices are reasonable. It is very much a bistro style spot, fairly noisy with a sturdy menu and several good wines on the list. Our shared escargot appetizer was delicious - plenty of garlic butter and toast to sop it up with - thank you! One of us ordered skate, which was wonderful, and the other had the salmon, also excellent. Our favorite wine, an Alsace Reisling, was on the menu, and one of the less expensive choices. We expect this is a holdover from when Jean Joho owned the place - it was also one of his favorites, and a little-known dry reisling - delicious. Lemon tart for dessert - the evening was a complete treat."

  • "This was our first visit since the site was Brasserie Jo. The seating was intimate and the food was excellent. While our waitress lacked a French accent, her recommendations were excellent as was the food. We look forward to returning many times."

  • "The escargot w/ the herb butter sauce was decadent as usual! It went well with my healthy pour of wine. Always a good time and vibe at Paris Club."

  • "I enjoyed my last experience with Paris Club and Bistro, I like the smaller more intimate restaurant. The French Onion soup is always wonderful, as well as the Scallops and you can never go wrong with the Eclair for dessert."

  • "Paris Club's remodel is beautiful and the intimate seating. Food and service are amazing and I look forward to going back again soon!"

  • "Paris Club Bistro was recommended by a friend in Chicago and we absolutely loved it! Our waiter was very personable, attentive, made great recommendations and provided exceptional service. The food was delicious and prepared with interesting sauces. The portion sizes were perfect and the cost was reasonable. We will definitely return on our next trip to Chicago."

  • "This was my first time to the new/improved Paris Club since they'd reopened and I LOVED it! Although I'd always enjoyed dining there before the remodel, I was blown away at the improved ambiance and feel. Plus the food was exceptional. I was bummed to see they no longer have mac 'n cheese on the menu as they've pared it down a bit. But I'll still keep going back! Highly recommend."

  • "As a fan of Brasserie Jo, I was naturally inclined to find fault with Paris Club when it replaced my long time favorite restaurant. While it exceeded my fatalistic expectations, it never blew me away. I didn't like the small plates style and the decor was rather bland, in addition to staff seeming like they wished they were working in the nightclub instead of in the restaurant. When I heard that they had redesigned the restaurant, I decided to give it a look and was finally blown away. The atmosphere is much better, with the design of the restaurant looking like it came out of Midnight in Paris, and the food is phenomenal, and the portion sizes are finally large enough to actually qualify as a meal."

  • "Remodeled - back to French Bistro style - menu updated but with old favorites similar to previous Brasserie JO. Loved the new ambience and the food!"

  • "Food is outstanding and wonderful variety of wine options! We were big fans of Brasserie Jo...food is even better than before. Glad to see decor restored to elegant and comfy French bistro style. Service is AMAZING. The level of attention demonstrated by managers and servers made this a VERY special evening. This is the reason Paris Club remains one of our faves. Highly recommend...always a very special dining experience!"

  • "Loved everything about my trip to Paris! Food was good and service was excellent. Loved seeing classic and simple cocktails on the cocktail list too! Job we done all around."

  • "Excellent meal overall. Came for birthday meal and all the food was excellent: Foie GRas Terrine, Steak Tartare / Trout Almondine & Skate. Staff was all wired in w/ radios so one request to whole team so they were all on every detail. Managers all came over to give comments so we were well attended to- maybe too much but nice touch all the same! GREAT MEAL"

  • "We had dined at Paris Club in the past and really enjoyed it. We actually had missed out on going there one evening while the site was being remodeled. The wait was well worth. It is a warm, sexy inviting space now. The food was even better than we remembered. It was a really great dining experience. The services was first rate and everyone went out of their way to make us feel welcome and to enhance our meal."

  • "The renovated Paris Club takes a major stride back in time, exuding the more formal and luxurious feel of a 1920s La Tremoille while still satisfying the needs of 21st century diners. The menu has been streamlined, but every dish is well planned and executed, and there is sufficient variety to suit most people's tastes. The waitstaff is polite and unhurried, the wine list is excellent, and the food sublime. Highly recommended!"

  • "Excellent food. Great atmosphere. Separating the dining and bar areas created a really top-notch dining experience."

  • "Our experience here really was wonderful. We were sat late and service was slow, but you know what? We hardly noticed. The bar drinks were wonderful and the bartender entertaining and nice to talk to. Once they texted us to be sat, it was nearly a half an hour after our reservation. The restaurant apologized profusely but, if you'd have asked me, I would not have even known what time it was. The atmosphere is magical and the people-watching opportunities are abundant. Once we did sit down, we were treated to a five course meal which was AMAZING. Though the time between courses was longer than our server would have liked, we did not mind. The serving sizes are ample, and any faster service would have taken away from the experience."

  • "We absolutely LOVED the newly re-designed Paris Club. Much more intimate and cozy than it's previous incarnation. And the food was delicious (try the gougeres.) We really felt as though we were back in Paris!!"

  • "After a long day of sightseeing this was a great restaurant to visit as it was warm and cosy. The menu was classic and the quality of the food was very good. I think this one could very quickly become a favourite to visit. The scallop appetizer was delicious and the classic French onion soup was perfect. The service was also very good, tentative but not over powering."

  • "I have dined at Paris Club with a large group on several occasions and have always enjoyed the atmosphere. I have been impressed by the consistent quality of the food during these large events. This particular night I was with a very good friend and the two of us had an exceptional meal. The service was top notch- helpful, friendly and she seemed to always come by at the perfect moment. Our meal was perfectly timed and perfectly cooked. The remodeled dining room is beautiful and I dare say sort of sexy. We loved the jazz and the desserts were amazingly good. Try the Il Flotant (sp?) flourless angel food cake..Amazing!"

  • "We have been fans of Joho from the Everest Room through Brasseria Jo and Paris Club. We dined at the NEW Paris CLub and Bistro looking forward to the latest chapter. We enjoyed the NEW décor. Found it comfortable with the same great service and hospitality. The food was very good however we missed the apple streudell at dessert. The music was a bit to loud and distracting but the smaller bar area and eating area made us comfortable. As always your staff is fabulous. Good Luck!"

  • "Highly recommended. If you like Peking duck than you should the French duck!"

  • "When Brasserie Jo was replaced by Paris Club, it remained a reliable choice if I wanted bistro food in an atmosphere less staid than Mon Ami Gabi (which I also love). Liked the brasserie vibe: paper tablecloths, menus on mirrors and subway-tile walls. Went to several of Lettuce Wine Club's tastings, and loved the creative and tasty appetizers, which could easily form a "French tapas" meal. It's noisy in the (smaller) bar now, and the dining room is more upscale (leather seating, cloth table linens, free amuse-bouche), with a more classically French menu (retaining the bistro standards). Wine list is thoughtful--not cheap but not outrageous. Service very attentive but still unpretentious. Pricier but not a dealbreaker. We'll be back."

  • "I had been here for dinner in 2013 before the recent remodeling. They updated the menu to be more in line with classic French offerings. For example, if I remember correctly, their escargots were served in shot glasses as a more modern twist. Now it's in the traditional escargots pan. It's great, and the wine list is all French - although certainly at a premium. The interior design is more intimate, and there's a clearer division between the bar and restaurant section. Great food, great wine and cocktails as well. It's a classy spot for a romantic date and a great location for a client dinner too. I definitely recommend it, and reserving in advance."

  • "The renovation turned out pretty nice but the feel changed quite a bit with it. Feels less like a French bistro & more like a cross between a swanky lounge & an American Steakhouse. Will still be one if my favorites but I kinda miss the old look."

  • "We went in a Saturday evening with a group of friends. We had a round table which was fabulous for conversation. Service and food were outstanding! Everyone loved their dinner selections. I would definitely return."

  • "First time eating here, i was told the place just reopened. I had the steak frites (skirt) the lady had a duck dish and we split mussels to start. Mussels were great and the portion was huge. Waiters were extremely attentive in clearing our shell bowl. My steak was excellent and quite a good value for the area. The duck was also good but the casserole was a bit heavy (very French, we should have known). I like the specialty cocktails but most of them are quite bitter so definitely check with the waiter if that's not your thing. Will definitely be back."

  • "To many people standing around employees and private large party in the back . Our dinner table was in the center looking at peoples behinds. Tables are very tight."

  • "To Open Table, Lettuce Entertain You, and Paris Club staff, On the night of our reservation, we showed up to the restaurant to find it closed for remodeling. Neither Open Table, nor the restaurant gave us any notice of the closure, nor has anyone involved followed up with us on this error. Though we were eventually redirected by staff to Hub 51 (see below), no effort was made that evening - or since - to reconcile the screw up. The only positive feedback I can give is for the very kind employee who randomly emerged from Paris Club, noticed that I was standing in the pouring rain looking confused, and took the time to make sure we got our name on the waiting list at Hub 51. In the past, eating at Paris Club has been a great experience."

  • "This was my second time here and my inital impressions were verified. Upon arrival we were offered us a table sandwiched inbetween two large parties-- not romantic. We were told to check our coats ourselves on the lower level. On a Saturday night-- the kitchen was out of mussels and lobster-- yet were were not informed before ordering. This is a probably a great place for young people and tourists who are so wowed by the decor they may overlook the rough edges. But for those of us that are established professionals, who live in Chicago and have many choices-- I would expect more polished, attentive service. There are other French Bistros in this area & for the price that do a much better job."

  • "we sat for 10 minutes before we finally asked for water even though the restaurant wasn't very busy. They felt bad and gave us free appetizers which was very nice. and the rest of the dinner was great. we were surprised the food was so good. it was excellent."

  • "The food was good, Considering the price the portions were very small. After we finished our dinner, table was cleared and almost 20 minutes later the waiter came by to give us a dessert menu. Left a bad taste in our mouth."

  • "Monday night before Christmas. Restaurant 3/4 empty, weather FREEZING sat my party of 4 near the door so we could take advantage of the night chill. Service fair, server kept apologizing for the wait for slow service. Food mediocre, ordered short rib ravioli came ice cold, dover sole tasted fishy. For $300 who needs this. I have eaten at Paris Club several times and although the food was never stellar, it has never been this bad. I am a member of the Preferred Diner program.....won't be back any time soon."

  • "This place recommended by our hotel. It has a casual but distinctly European atmosphere. Warm woods but simple tables that are contemporarily chunky. Our server was very helpful and help navigate a eclectic menu. Food was great, generous, and beer selection was impressive. It will be on my list for future Chicago visits"
