This a place is a gem!As a well versed foodie, I have experienced many of the culinary delights in NYC and abroad. One would expect to find delicious lamb dishes and other wonders of the Greek style cuisine. But, Parea has taken an intriguing approach to Greek cuisine by adding Pat LA Frieda steaks to their menu. In my opinion, their steak stacks up to every steak I have tried by any of the dedicated steak houses in NYC…not to mention the portion sizes are larger while very competitively priced. The sommelier is very knowledgeable and made a wonderful suggestion away from one of my favorite California Cabs. Bottom line - the combination of traditional Greek cuisine with top tier steak is a dream come true for any Mediterranean foodie. This a place is a gem!5/14/2013 12:00:00 AMBest dinner everWe visit NYC several times a year for both business and pleasure. We generally stay in Midtown. This time we elected to stay Downtown in Gramercy. We were in town for three nights and this was our last night dinner. Fabulous to say the least. Our waiter (Bartok) was terrific. The grilled octopus appetizer was by far the best I have ever had. The steak(filet) was likewise the best ever. I will return for another memorable meal.5/14/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfection .....EXCELLENT, EXCELLENT, EXCELLENT .... I've been to many places, tried a variety of cuisines but this place DOES IT RIGHT. The appetizers transform you to Greece with those beautiful, vibrate flavors. The steaks and seafood are cooked to juicy perfection, paired with flavorful side and the wines, EXCELLENT wines in a decent price range. The mediterranean desserts are SINFUL! The decor and staff are warm, welcoming and make you feel like you are a regular. DEFINTITELY making this place a regular........4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat SteaksWow. I live in the neighborhood and finally a steak house I can return to. Our table had the Porterhouse and the Prime NY strip. Just perfect. The sides were equally delicious. I do not review restaurants nor do I read review but I felt that Parea deserved my 2 cents. Obviously, I will return.4/15/2013 12:00:00 AMLoved the "free" desserts.Loved the "free" desserts. I had the Greek specialties and haven't tried the steak as yet.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMI'm always suspicious whenI'm always suspicious when I read a glowing review thinking that it's coming from the owner's cousin, but full disclosure here: My only connection to this restaurant is that it is 4 blocks from our apartment. Sufficed to say, we had one of the best meals the other night. We were skeptical when this restaurant rebranded itself as a steakhouse since we are pesca-vegetarians. But we were amazed at how well the fish was prepared, the best octopus ever, the service (David Gordon) was as good as any 5 star establishment, and the drinks were prepared expertly. A wonderful evening!4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat meal and fabulous service!Great meal and fabulous service! We were at a function nearby and decided to try. Will make a point of returning. Not crowded - seems to be overshadowed by the nearby Grammercy Tavern which of course was packed. The fried zuchini is a must!4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMQuality of the steak...I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the steak. I have eaten at all the big name steakhouses and have to say that Parea Prime's held their own. In fact, the rib eye was one of the best i have had in NYC. They have a fantastic wine list (prices are unbelievable) to pair with your dinner and the cocktails at the bar are great. Gregory was an amazing waiter! I can't wait to go back.3/27/2013 12:00:00 AMTry it, you'll like itMy understanding is that Parea Prime is fairly new to the neighborhood, which may have explained why it was a bit quiet and not completely full, but for a business dinner for four people, the noise level was perfect. The service was very good, and the food (we all had fish) was excellent. The grilled octopus was especially good. The sides of vegetables (mushrooms/brussel sprouts) had a bit too much sauce, but were otherwise prepared well. A nice touch was the "on the house" dessert platter that was brought over with our coffees. The atmosphere was hip without being over the top, and the lighting and decor was smooth and earthy. Everyone was very pleased with the restaurant and would go back for dinner again3/12/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food octopus was amazing TheGreat food octopus was amazing
They are changing from more of a Greek restaurant
to more of a Streakhouse.
Thankfully they will keep some of their Greek favourites like the
octopus and their spinach pie.
I would like if they kept stocking their Greek beers3/11/2013 12:00:00 AMA great overall experience.A great overall experience. No one main course or appetizer or dessert was less delicious than the rest. All food was exceptionally tasty and well prepared. Atmosphere was great and service was outstanding. I will definitely recoment this restaurant to a friend.3/2/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing Filet Minon and Raw Bar!Dined here the other night with a friend. He loves Greek food and I love steak so we both won! They have a great looking bar so we decided to start there with drinks and appetizers. Had the seafood bouquet and it was SO delicious! Really great wine selection too. My filet minon was so tender and flavorful and he had the Lavraki (grilled sea bass) and it was amazing! We shared the brussel sprouts w/ bacon and truffle mac and cheese. Our server was very attentive and even brought us a small dessert platter on the house! Excellent service overall. Will absolutely be back.2/26/2013 12:00:00 AMNew steakhouse in Gramercy ...Great new steakhouse! Went last night, we were impressed with the porterhouse, cooked just right. Wine list and prices are extremely reasonable and the staff was great. They were really helpful with pairing the sides and wine to have with that porterhouse. Going back to try the short ribs and the raw bar...2/21/2013 12:00:00 AMThe Steak was just as goodThe Steak was just as good as any top notch new York steakhouse!
The seafood plateau was wonderfully priced for an amazing fresh assortment of seafood.
Management sent over desserts wich was a great touch to a wonderful meal. Loved the Greek
influence on a steakhouse theme. Would DEFINITELY return!2/16/2013 12:00:00 AMOctopus was great. The bone-inOctopus was great. The bone-in rib eye was excellent. Excellent service2/11/2013 12:00:00 AMWent here for Restaurant WeekWent here for Restaurant Week and loved the choices, as well as in no way were we treated differently because we chose from that menu (some restaurants make you feel inferior if you ask for that menu, not understanding that this was the draw in the first place).1/28/2013 12:00:00 AMThe best Octopus!OMG! If you go you shouldnt miss the OCTOPODA and the Bruschettes... Delicious of all the greek restaurants iv been this one has been by far the best one... It will become my nyc fav restaurnt.
