Paragon - PortlandPearl of the PearlOn the corner 13th & Hoyt, one of our regular spots in Portland for an easy walk, perfect location, and consistently great dining experience.6/14/2013 12:00:00 AMHappy food hourGreat post work get together with friends. We went there for rosemary oil French fries but learned they had rosemary fries instead. Fries were superb! A bit too salty for my tastes but crunchy and warm with lots of flavor. I never order hamburger when dining out however, their hamburger was fantastic. The mussles and calamari were done with care to perfection! Food was excellent, which I expected, and the service was equally good. A wonderful evening out by everyone in our party.6/13/2013 12:00:00 AMHow do you even title a food reviewNot enough characters available to write everything, so here's very short version:
Salad: had homemade cheese. Was good.
Pea Soup with Watermelon Salsa: GET THIS. Cold, sweet watermelon on rich, cold pea soup was absolutely perfect. I want to learn to make this at home.
Salmon: Perfectly cooked salmon. Should speak for itself. Was in tart lemon sauce, maybe too sour when pooled at bottom of plate.
Pub Steak: Tremendous. Potato crust with hint of horseradish. There were other things on the plate, but frankly, who cares? Steak was amazing.
Ginger Panna Cotta: Perfect end to big dinner. Light, crisp and sharp. Just wonderful finale.
Tiramisu: Delicious, but waaaaay too rich to end with. Get panna cotta instead.6/5/2013 12:00:00 AMgreat food, great serviceI had the Dining Month pre-fixe dinner; the salmon was very good, the server recommended a great wine to pair with it; service was very attentive and friendly6/2/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was excellent, theThe food was excellent, the server attentive and pleasantly quirky.
