Diner Reviews
  • "A wonderful neighborhood gem and our favorite place to celebrate birthdays! The food was perfect, as always, and we all had our favorites, so everything lived up to its consistent quality and no one was disappointed. Our only criticism, as always, is that because of the way the restaurant was designed, if even only half the tables are filled, it gets very, very noisy."

  • "This would be good for special occasions. Food is good."

  • "This is our go to restaurant in the neighborhood. We love it when we have a free night and can get into the restaurant at the last minute. "

  • "Everyone enjoyed the food, but we could not have a conversation, too noisy. The service was okay, not over the top. Next time we will have a dinner at home where conversation is possible. That is the point in getting together. Everyone had to come over so we could catch up."

  • "I love Paradiso: the delicious local/sustainable menu, friendly and helpful staff, relaxed ambience (particularly during lunch), and bar delights. The only occasion during which the ambience was a bit more energetic than usual, was Valentine's Day (it was packed, as expected). Otherwise, the restaurant mood is pretty mild and intimate. The seafood dishes and salads are usually my favorites, but you can't really go wrong at this place."

  • "This restaurant is reliably good. The food is always well prepared and tasty. Servers are friendly and professional. I think what impresses me most is the consistency, which is why my family goes there frequently. The only criticism I have is that diners are a bit tightly packed along one wall, but that's a minor matter. Well worth the money and time."

  • "This is a favorite of ours! We've been here to meet friends, for special occasions, brunch, lunches and dinners and all who have joined us also enjoyed the great meals, service and we have also never felt rushed, which was appreciated! We will continue to go as often as we can!"

  • "In the small town of San Leandro, where there are very few decent and/or successful restaurants, Paradiso is a gem!"

  • "First time experience, had to drive 30 minutes to get to it, and was impressed. Service was attentive, food served hot and prepared spot on, big olives for requested cocktail, left full and very satisfied. Will return."

  • "Eclectic menu, with lots of choices. All food was outstanding and very well seasoned. I had lamb tenderloin and it was as tender as the best filet. I highly recommend this place. No wonder they are in their 18th year! Apple crisp was the bomb, order the xtra carmel sauce for $1. It was worth it."

  • "We love Paradiso! The food is always excellent and the service great. This is a restaurant we like to share with friends and family - recommending Paradiso is an easy thing to do. We were disappointed, however, that our seating request noted in the reservation was not honored. I sensed that the host did not review special requests prior to opening for dinner, thus he seated another party in the seats I had requested."

  • "Choose Paradiso at the last minute on a Saturday afternoon. Early reservation for 4:30 was all that was open until 8:30, so plan ahead. Great table by the windows. Wonderful server. Seafood chowder opener was great and full of chunky fish and potato. Seafood ravioli and salmon entrees were excellent. Salmon was cooked in their wood fire over and was incredible with an interesting crunch on the outside and mousy and devine inside. Apple crisp for dessert was enough to split and oh so good!"

  • "Wife n me were bored, so tried this new find . We were blown away away by the excellent service and the quality of the food - fresh, organic and of extremely high quality. Though we would have loved more assistance on the wine pairings, the Riesling and the Pinot noire, we selected itself were fantastic. The appetizers were mind blowing especially the polenta and the mignonette. The main course were very good too and the pesto on my salmon was so good that my wife cleaned the plate with the bread served, leaving her outstanding seafood ravioli for taking home. The creme brûlée that we shared was just perfect too! All in all a a very good fine dining place, although the drinks were a bit pricey!"

  • "Paradiso is one of my & my BFF"s favorite places for lunch. LOVE their basil martinis! Always crisp and refreshing. We had the lamb burger this time and requested it medium. It came well done, but still was juicy. Would have liked an other option than fries, but not a "biggie." Never disapointed here and the wait staff is great!"

  • "Again, a wonderful dining experience. Our group had a mix of pasta dishes, ribs, steaks followed by lovely desserts with nary a complaint (quite unusual for this group, just on principle). It's pricey, but the quality is high; service is consistently timely and pleasant. I consider Paradiso as its own special event, but without being snobby or intimidating."

  • "This was a last minute find searching for a dinner spot with some colleagues from our So. Cal office. Drove through a residential area thinking we might end up at someone home. Turned out to be a gem from using Open Table! The food was great! The service was on the spot! Thought it would be a fast dinner but the food and service had us relax and spend more time enjoying the evening. Will return to enjoy this another time."

  • "Paradiso is a food lovers paradise, a great place for drinks, amazing meal and delicious desserts. They are very accommodating to diner's needs, they went above and beyond for me. I informed them I was deaf and needed a well lit table in a quieter area, they provided that plus a waiter who knew American Sign Language! Impressive."

  • "I've been going to Paradiso for years and it's always really good. The food is great and it's a nice environment. Not too loud or stuffy. One would never expect to find a place that great in San Leandro."

  • "We came to celebrate Grandpa's 70th birthday with four adults and two kids. Two of our group had soup. Both tasted fresh and homemade and both were delicious. For entrees the adults had lamb chops, filet of sole, seafood ravioli and braised short ribs. One of the grandkids had rigatoni with a meat sauce. The youngest had a special custom pizza with tomato sauce as a base, cheese and dollops of pesto on top. All of the meals were outstanding. The food was wonderful. Service was great. Our waiter was Alex and he was attentive and good with the kids. A surprise slice of tiramisu with a candle was brought to the table and we sang "Happy Birthday". Everyone had a bite of the dessert and it was delicious too. Our thanks to Paradiso."

  • "We winter in the SF east bay each year, and were happy to discover Paradiso last winter. We went there for dinner, and for the special Valentine's Day event. This winter, we were there recently for lunch with 2 friends who came down from Sacramento just to eat there with us. Everything we ordered was fantastic. MICHAEL, our waiter was also fantastic. We look forward to returning to Paradiso when we are back here in winter 2015."

  • "As always the food was delicious! We've been coming here for over 10 years and on this occasion we went at lunch and they were pretty busy, so it took longer than usual to get our drinks and that was a disappointment ... if you're wanting a good Classic Mojito this is not the place to get it at, but there's always wine! Overall great place to go to and enjoy good food!"

  • "The food is delicious and the atmosphere fun, and it is only 7 minutes from our home! We celebrated my birthday this past Saturday with a party of 8 and it was a good, though not great experience. Prime rib was advertised as a special and three of our party were set on it only to find out that it was sold out and it was only 7:00 p.m. This is not the first time that this has happened, so beware! This is a loud, fun, place with a good, but pricey menu. We enjoy it, although the service could be better given the prices. The food was good and our party was undaunted. Dishes to try: baby kale Caesar on special, braised lamb shanks, osso bucco, mussels in a white wine broth. Note: the sea bass was topped with absolutely cold crab."

  • "First time to experience Brunch for a birthday celebration. The Saturday morning get together was welcomed with a sunny day! The food was prepared to everyone's liking for the four members of our party. Two had the Salmon Benedict, one had the Ham Benedict, and one had the Frittata with a Mixed Salad. Everything was seasoned to perfection! The wait staff were polite and efficient in tending to our needs. One of our party had recommended the Brunch for our birthday guest and we were not disappointed."

  • "I typicaly get the New York here and I think it's better than almost any steak I've ever had; including the steak houses in SF. Tonight, my steak was overly gristly. Usually the cuts are tender and clean and theres' no problem with eating the entire steak. Along with my steak I also had a Sazerac. I appreciate that the restaurant is attempting specialty cocktails, but the Sazerac was the worst I've had, and didn't come close to approaching the $12 price in value. I would suggest that the bartenders spend some time at Rickhouse in The City, to really get an idea of how to combine quality ingredients for a true cocktail experience."
