Diner Reviews
  • "Good food, on the beach, but too expensive for what it is!!!"

  • "Overbooked!!! A long wait! Parking was a nightmare. Good food and you can't beat the sit in the sand and dine venue so we will go back!"

  • "... come to Paradise Cove. Eat breakfast (or brunch, lunch, etc.) outside at a shaded table with your feet cradled in the soft sand, ocean waves breaking soothingly in front of you, with Malibu's rugged cliffs ringing the cove. After your meal, you can lounge on beach chairs/couches/beds on the beach. This is a very family-friendly restaurant with a very casual, comfortable vibe. 4 hours parking for $6 in the restaurant lot (now, that's a real "find" in LA!). Full bar - yay! (Only wine, champagne and beer available for beach loungers.) This is a must-do spot for all my out-of-town guests, and it's never failed to charm."

  • "The quality of the food has really diminished. Cold and disappointing."

  • "If you want to come here to see Paradise Cove (and not pay $20 per person to park), then have snacks and drinks to get the parking validation, enjoy the view and ignore the food!"

  • "We spent the afternoon on the beach at Paradise Cove, and then got a booth at the window inside the cafe. Breezy (bring layers), great music, smiling and friendly servers, yummy food and drinks. Kids menu is great, and as a vegetarian there were options such as veggie burger, great salads, huge baked potato, and side veggies. The fish plates and desserts looked outrageous, huge, decadent!! Great place for a birthday celebration. Parking is $6 if you spend over $35 at the cafe, but you have to be out by 4 hours. After 4 hours, parking is $40 even with cafe validation. So if you make a day of it all (or even a half day), just be prepared to drop some bucks. As long as you're cool with that, you'll have a fabulous time!"

  • "One of the few places in Malibu that "has it all" -- ocean view, beach access, off-street parking, great menu with impressive variety; good bar, efficient, friendly service. Whenever we think of heading out to Malibu, Paradise Cove Beach Cafe comes to mind first. Portions are huge so sharing is definitely the way to go so the group can sample a number of items. On my last visit, my dining companions pronounced the shee crab soup "the best the've ever had" -- ditto on the taco platter. We were completely satisfied with everything we had and look forward to our next visit."

  • "we were 5 ladies celebrating a friend's birthday! and we had great food, wonderful service and lots of fun! We started the huge martini glass of calamari that was just ever so lightly fried and very flavorful. More than enough for the 5 of us! With 2 shrimp and crab salads with an amazing zesty dressing, an 2 Ahi salads, and a seafood tacos we were over the topped stuffed…then came the 5 layer double chocolate birthday cake! oh my! way good! our waitress has been a server there for over 20 years and she was terrific."

  • "Well look, the food was never great, but it's the location, right, and the ambience. They've now bumped up the prices so a very ordinary - no, make that less than ordinary - burger and fries or Cobb salad is twenty bucks plus drink and tip. Add the parking (new automated system, PLUS "free" valet in crowded season/times), and it's $40/person for a burger and iced tea. I think they've now lost me, as a local. The whole cove was pretty crowded on a July weekend so maybe they won't notice I'm gone. But they need a new kitchen before I come back, except maybe to show out of town tourists."

  • "This restaurant is a classic Malibu icon, with a casual feel, and outstanding food. Great for special occasions."

  • "Very very impressed that they seated us right away, so far open table is my favorite way to make reservations"

  • "the beach scene is priceless the drinks were thirst quenching and the portions were enough to feed a family of 4. Grab a bunch of friends , drive up the coast to Malibu and treat yourselves to paradise."

  • "Paradise cove is a dream come true. The vibe of that place is so awesome and their tropical drinks are to die for. I appreciated how different a private beach was from a public one. Paying to get in weeds out all the crazy people! I loved it. My wife and I went there for our first time for her birthday. It couldn't have been better."

  • "Our family had the opportunity to dine at Paradise Cove. We are from North Carolina and visit California every other year. This was an excellent experience. Each of the 4 of us ordered something differen items from the menu. ALL of the food was delicious! We had fun trying each others dishes. Our server Mike was so friendly and told us of other sights we may be interested in seeing. Mike made sure that we were well taken care of. We will make another visit to Paradise Cove in 2016 to have lunch and we hope Mike is still there. Thank you for a wonderful time. Sincerely, The Smith's Milton, Colleen, Micah, and Caleb"

  • "Great menu with a variety of choices. The waitress was very friendly and attentive. We ate dinner in the sand on the beach and watched the sunset…"

  • "We frequent this establishment because the seafood is always fresh and well prepared, portions are huge and drinks are well made. Highly Recommend"

  • "We had a great seat outside on beach! Bloody Mary's are so good! Good is great too with large portions."

  • "The excellence of the location can't be overlooked. Where else can you dine on the ocean with your feet in the sand? Service was not too strong-the waitress had to be asked three time to bring water, one order was wrong and it took a long time to get the replacement. The food is good but not difficult fare to make. A lot of fried food which is a bit surprising for a restaurant that aims a bit higher I think. Would I return? Of course."

  • "Great place to hang out and enjoy the salt air. Food is o.k. We shared hot appetizer w lots of fried stuff. Cool place to sit in the wooden chairs and drink cold beverages."
    Dined on 7/7/2014
  • "We had lunch there and the food was good but we saw an amazing guacamole appetizer so had to go back for dinner and have that, too. I like spicy food and the guac lacked enough spice for me. Calamari appetizer was good. The clam chowder is to die for. There were big chunks of clam in every bite and the base was rich and creamy wonderfulness. We had a bottle of Cakebread Chardonnay with dinner. Probably would have had two beers at lunch but the service was slow (4th of July weekend) and I filled up by the time they got around to asking if I wanted another. The parking is confusing and supposedly not run by the restaurant. They charged $6. Go it is worth it!"

  • "It's been at least the 5th time that i have a lunch there and I must admit that I've seen quality slightly going down and the prices going up. Otherwise, this is a great spot for all the people who are coming to visit us as it's quite a unique experience, having lunch with the feet in the sand. The portions are huge, just share some appetizers and be prepared to come back home with a box."

  • "Outdoor dining in the sand is much quieter than the inside. Great service, good food. Some dishes need to be shared since they are so large."

  • "Enjoyed breakfast at the Beach Cafe in Paradise Cove this past weekend. The weather was spectacular, so the beach was crowded. The service was bit slow, but our waiter and the manager came to assure us our food would be out shortly. No problem...we were on beach time...so kick back and enjoy the salt air, the slight breeze and great conversation with good friends."

  • "I came here for dinner on the 4th of July and it was a great experience. You can sit outside with your feet literally in the sand for dinner and at night they have heat lamps for the cold ocean breeze. The food portion sizes are huge, so keep that in mind when ordering appetizers, entrees, and dessert. The paella was delicious - definitely enough food for 3 and maybe even 4 people. Even though it was one of the busiest nights of the year (July 4th), the wait service was pretty good and very friendly. The fireworks show right off the shore was great, too! This is a great restaurant for tourists and locals, alike."

  • "Paradise Cove has seriously increased their prices this year. To give you an idea, last year in 2013, the guacamole and chips appetizer cost $12.95. This year? 17.95. Nearly all of their burger entrees cost almost $20. Ribs? $30. It used to be free parking for diners, but not any more. It's $6 for 4 hours, and $40 if you exceed 4 hours. We're not coming back. It's just not worth it any more."

  • "Great location! We especially like sitting out on the patio where you can literally stick your toes in the sand, and watch the waves! The taco plate is one of our favorites. Great place to bring out-of-town guests, or sneak away for a fun evening with local friends. Also, the service is excellent; fun, friendly and helpful."

  • "Food too expensive and unhealthy (full of fat-rich cream sauces)."
    Dined on 6/28/2014
  • "I spent dinner with only my 8 year old son, we had the ribs and they were tender and good. We orderd the Ice Cream sunday, and it was huge. He was eager to hit the waves. we spent the evening spashing in the waves."

  • "Great place with BIG portions. The food was good and the prices are high. You can not beat the location. The view of the ocean and beach is priceless. The service was excellant."

  • "Birthday dinner with family. They sat seven people at a table for four. I requested the outdoor booth for my birthday on my reservation but they would not help at all. Waiter was not good. He forgot to bring my pregnant daughter in law her food. Then told us he had to place the order again because "someone must have taken it". We asked for a birthday dessert but he must not have heard us. He brought the check (no birthday dessert) and never even asked if we wanted to order a dessert. Looking for a new destination for next year."

  • "We had a wonderful meal and a fun time as always. The salad bar is a very nice one and I loved my steamed mussels. My wife had fun with her fried clams, always done well here. We just wish it was closer to home--we would be there a couple time per month instead of 3-4 per year."

  • "I came to Paradise Cove for my 30th birthday lunch. It's a beautiful spot, we had delicious drinks, and the staff were very kind to us. We didn't realize the food portions were so huge so we will definitely order differently. But thank you for the gigantic birthday cake!! It was delicious and fun!! :)"

  • "A spectacular place, and this is a nicely set up restaurant at the heart of it. Food is pretty good given the quantity served and the diversity of the menu. Well worth it if you go on a weekday, and if you allow yourself an hour or more to walk up and down the beach before or after the meal."
