Diner Reviews
  • "The excellence of the location can't be overlooked. Where else can you dine on the ocean with your feet in the sand? Service was not too strong-the waitress had to be asked three time to bring water, one order was wrong and it took a long time to get the replacement. The food is good but not difficult fare to make. A lot of fried food which is a bit surprising for a restaurant that aims a bit higher I think. Would I return? Of course."

  • "Great location! We especially like sitting out on the patio where you can literally stick your toes in the sand, and watch the waves! The taco plate is one of our favorites. Great place to bring out-of-town guests, or sneak away for a fun evening with local friends. Also, the service is excellent; fun, friendly and helpful."

  • "We had lunch there and the food was good but we saw an amazing guacamole appetizer so had to go back for dinner and have that, too. I like spicy food and the guac lacked enough spice for me. Calamari appetizer was good. The clam chowder is to die for. There were big chunks of clam in every bite and the base was rich and creamy wonderfulness. We had a bottle of Cakebread Chardonnay with dinner. Probably would have had two beers at lunch but the service was slow (4th of July weekend) and I filled up by the time they got around to asking if I wanted another. The parking is confusing and supposedly not run by the restaurant. They charged $6. Go it is worth it!"

  • "Great place to hang out and enjoy the salt air. Food is o.k. We shared hot appetizer w lots of fried stuff. Cool place to sit in the wooden chairs and drink cold beverages."

  • "It's been at least the 5th time that i have a lunch there and I must admit that I've seen quality slightly going down and the prices going up. Otherwise, this is a great spot for all the people who are coming to visit us as it's quite a unique experience, having lunch with the feet in the sand. The portions are huge, just share some appetizers and be prepared to come back home with a box."

  • "Enjoyed breakfast at the Beach Cafe in Paradise Cove this past weekend. The weather was spectacular, so the beach was crowded. The service was bit slow, but our waiter and the manager came to assure us our food would be out shortly. No problem...we were on beach time...so kick back and enjoy the salt air, the slight breeze and great conversation with good friends."

  • "Outdoor dining in the sand is much quieter than the inside. Great service, good food. Some dishes need to be shared since they are so large."

  • "Paradise Cove has seriously increased their prices this year. To give you an idea, last year in 2013, the guacamole and chips appetizer cost $12.95. This year? 17.95. Nearly all of their burger entrees cost almost $20. Ribs? $30. It used to be free parking for diners, but not any more. It's $6 for 4 hours, and $40 if you exceed 4 hours. We're not coming back. It's just not worth it any more."

  • "I came here for dinner on the 4th of July and it was a great experience. You can sit outside with your feet literally in the sand for dinner and at night they have heat lamps for the cold ocean breeze. The food portion sizes are huge, so keep that in mind when ordering appetizers, entrees, and dessert. The paella was delicious - definitely enough food for 3 and maybe even 4 people. Even though it was one of the busiest nights of the year (July 4th), the wait service was pretty good and very friendly. The fireworks show right off the shore was great, too! This is a great restaurant for tourists and locals, alike."

  • "What a location. Right on the beach. It was crowded on Fathers Day but we were seated within a few minutes of our reservation time. Our waiter was friendly, food was good and we enjoyed some wine from a local vineyard in Malibu. After lunch we took a walk on the beach. Great experience which made for a memorable day."

  • "Love the views, the food, and the service. It is quite packed at all times, but that's a great indicator of how good this place is."

  • "Birthday dinner with family. They sat seven people at a table for four. I requested the outdoor booth for my birthday on my reservation but they would not help at all. Waiter was not good. He forgot to bring my pregnant daughter in law her food. Then told us he had to place the order again because "someone must have taken it". We asked for a birthday dessert but he must not have heard us. He brought the check (no birthday dessert) and never even asked if we wanted to order a dessert. Looking for a new destination for next year."

  • "We had a wonderful meal and a fun time as always. The salad bar is a very nice one and I loved my steamed mussels. My wife had fun with her fried clams, always done well here. We just wish it was closer to home--we would be there a couple time per month instead of 3-4 per year."

  • "I came to Paradise Cove for my 30th birthday lunch. It's a beautiful spot, we had delicious drinks, and the staff were very kind to us. We didn't realize the food portions were so huge so we will definitely order differently. But thank you for the gigantic birthday cake!! It was delicious and fun!! :)"

  • "A spectacular place, and this is a nicely set up restaurant at the heart of it. Food is pretty good given the quantity served and the diversity of the menu. Well worth it if you go on a weekday, and if you allow yourself an hour or more to walk up and down the beach before or after the meal."

  • "Paradise Cove is a unique beach cove. The restaurant is located on the beach sand. The California ambiance can't be beat! Watching the bi9kinis is good too."

  • "Be prepared to spend your whole paycheck and then some! The location can't be beat--let's face it. Especially if you get seating outdoors, feet in the sand, sound of the waves…it almost made me feel like I was back in Mexico. The food is not bad, but it is NOT CHEAP! We got king crab legs: $80 for 1 1/2 lbs! I mean, that is a CRAZY price! If we had asked what market price was before we ordered, we probably would not have gotten them (worse, we ordered 2). I ordered Rose wine, and it was terrible. I asked the bartender if it was even Rose, and she showed me a bottle of Fallbrook Rosata, whatever that is. The service is sporadic. We were not offered bread (which I almost asked for a loaf to go after we got the exorbitant bill). Be prepared."

  • "A fun place to eat and relax while looking at the ocean from one of the best beaches on the west coast. It felt like a mini vacation."

  • "Where else can you have a great meal with your feet in the sand, while enjoying the most beautiful beach in Malibu. As locals, we have been eating here for years - but recently the food has definitely improved. If the sun is out - it will be crowded (do not go in the summer on the weekend as parking is impossible) and you can not be in a hurry! Chill out and wear flip flops! Looks pricey until you see the amount of food - must be shared! Swordfish, clam chowder is delicious - it is good seafood made better by the fun, casual ambiance of the beach. Breakfast is good too!"

  • "$150 for lunch for four with no alchohol...really? But it's on Malibu so you are paying for the location."

  • "Bat quality food at gourmet prices. Dried out ribs, goopy key lime pie, watered down drinks... You get exponentially better food at Geoffrey's for the same price."

  • "This is beautiful setting, if not a somewhat aged property. Breakfast is quite good, but over priced. Coffee is nicely served, but could be much better. Hint: McDonald's coffee is better. While the Eggs Benedicts are lovely, it's a shame that they, nor any other breakfast item is served after 11AM. The few times we have dined at this location for other than breakfast, we have not been impressed. Be careful, the parking charges are onerous and the parking charge WITH validation has increased 50% in the last year or two, to $6. Please compare that to inflation. If you park for over 4 hours, apparently without exception, parking will be $40, so, if you spend the day and eat 3 meals, parking will be $40? If you walk in, it's $20 person. What?"

  • "Lively restaurant. Good food with large portions. Nice view of the beach. We ordered the Cobb salad. It was very good. Note: The salad could have fed 3-4 people. The King crab legs were great! "

  • "If you want to relax, be near the ocean, smell the breeze and eat mediocre food, then this is the place. Maybe what I ordered was not their best dish, but it was advertised on the menu as the best tacos. Please!!! "
