  • "Pappas continues to be a favorite dining destination for me and my husband. I always order the famous crab cake. If you like Riesling, order the Blue Nun. It is so smooth and delicious. If you are fine with cafeteria style seating, then the downstairs dining room is okay. If you prefer to sit in a more traditional restaurant setting, then ask to be seated upstairs. It also is a bit quieter upstairs. I have a friend coming from out of town soon and I plan to bring her to Pappas."

We were also able to linger a bit to relax and talk after dinner, without feeling like we were being rushed out. Thank you - we will definitely be back again!"

I had asked to be seated quicky in my online reservation, and we were seated immediately (THANKS!!!). Service was top notch and super friendly. I couldn't have asked for a bettter experience for myself, my brother and elderly (88 years) Aunt!! She had a cold Blue Moon and a crab cake and was a happy camper! Blessings!!   • "Have heard about Pappas for years but finally took the plunge. PACKED on a Saturday night! Cruised past 20 plus people waiting for tables as we used OPEN TABLE! Tables are tightly packed into this throwback space when restaurants hosted families for dinners, complete with pickled cucumbers and breadsticks on the table. Food is SO FRESH! Of course we had the amazing crabcakes, stuffed shrimp and the best filet in town---hands down---tender, perfectly cooked and seasoned. We had no room but the dessert menu looked luscious. Looking forward to a return visit and stopping at the adjacent market for pit beef! Service is BEYOND on point---you are taken care by a family of professionals."

  • "Whole experience would have been perfect except for two things. We assumed a twice baked potato was still in the skin but it wasn't and was smaller than you would expect. However the crab cakes were huge and more than made up for it. The little cucumber salad they put on your table for starters is excellent as were the rolls. Ate rolls , crackers and cucumber til food came which didn't take long . Service was great. Only one other complaint and it just wasn't a huge deal . Crab ball starters said 6 crab balls but they only brought 5. Could have mentioned it but it seemed nit picky. They were HUGE. No filler and fried just right. Waitress was attentive without smothering and the whole experience was great."

And the sangria? Not sure what they use to give it that extra kick!, but it was awesome! Love that the table appetizer was pickled cucumbers. This place was very loud, but you could tell it was a well liked local staple. The server was very attentive. I will be going back!"

My husband and neice both ordered salads which were brought after they were served their dinner. I have eaten here several times for lunch and it was very good.   • "We went to Pappas to try their crabcake. It was large, 8 oz., and filled with large lumps of backfin crabmeat and a reasonable amount of filler. However, the crab meat was definitely not from Maryland blues. First, it isn't the season and second, the meat didn't have the sweetness of the Maryland crab. I asked the waitress if they used Maryland crab during the summer, thinking I would come back then. I was informed they get their crab meat from Indonesia year round. This practice has the advantage of providing a consistent crabcake year round, but it's not what I'm looking for. So my search for the perfect crab cake continues."

  • "On Valentine's Day we had an absolutely wonderful meal at Pappas! We made reservations, were seated right in front of the cozy fireplace. It was lovely. I had a huge yummy crabcake, my hubby had "fork tender" steak that was out of this world. I never thought to get a steak there as I think of it generally as a seafood restaurant. But the steak is excellant. Perfectly done too! Our waiter was very observant and kept the glasses filled! Their signature sangrias are outstanding!! For dessert we tried their strawberry cheesecake with chocolate mousse which was outstanding! I can always count on leaving the table happy when I go there. And when the waiter brought the check, he also delived a beautiful long stemmed red rose. It just made my day!"

Perhaps I should say they've spruced up. The prices are reasonable and the service is always good. They have an older crowd and seem to be busy from lunch through dinner."

  • "I would normally give the food at Pappas a 5-star review, but on this particular night it was just so-so...crabcakes didn't have much flavor, green beans were undercooked, mashed potatoes were so-so, also. Dinner rolls that were served with the dinner looked exactly like un-sliced hamburger rolls! I've eaten at Pappas a lot, so this was not up to their usual standards. They were extremely busy, so maybe this had something to do with the food not being the best. On the plus side, the service was great, the waitess was very accommodating and the atmosphere in the restaurant overall was pleasant. I'll always come back to Pappas, but I do hope I caught them on a bad day and that they maintain their high standards."
