  • "Two of us went for a special birthday dinner on a Thursday evening and it was beyond expectations. The service by Thurston was really attentive without being intrusive. The rest of the staff, including the wine steward, were also accommodating beyond expectations."

  • "We love this restaurant. The food is very good, the wine choice fantastic and the bread is so delicious."
    Dined on 4/11/2014
  • "Food was terrific, & they listened when I asked for a quieter place on the floor. Only draw was the efficiency of the wait-staff, especially clearing away plates - can make one feel a bit rushed."
    Dined on 4/11/2014
  • "Excellent food and service. The steaks and lobster were excellent."
    Dined on 4/9/2014
  • "The food was excellent but the service was phenomenal!! The wait staff overheard us talking about trying the turtle soup but we didn't order it we already had appetizers and a healthy portion of steak. They brought it out for us to try anyways.. It was awesome!!!"

  • "Pappas is hands down, our favorite. Always excellent service and food!!!!"
    Dined on 1/15/2014
  • "A little loud, but the food was good. Our service was great until it came time to pay, that took an extra 20 minutes. I almost felt rushed, and crowded while eating. Tables were close together and they turned over quickly, not what you would expect from a restaurant like this, with this price tag."
    Dined on 4/4/2014
  • "Not sure how my wife and I overlooked this one for the past 5 years, but it is definitely a gem."
    Dined on 4/5/2014
  • "A faithful customer for over ten years, I am sad to say I may be done with Papa's. Over my last 3-4 visits, I have been disappointed each time by the quality of my steak. While a few of the sides and appetizers were quite good, they are not the reason for my steakhouse visits. I do not know if they changed meat providers, aging techniques or chefs, but it is not the as good (less flavor and not very tender) as it used to be. On a positive note, Houston as a ton of high end steak options so I will not go hungry."

  • "Had terrible service……we were in the bar for a few drinks before the dining room opened. Had great service until the dining room open then our waiter disappeared. The 2 bartenders were too busy watching TV that my husband had to go up there to pay our bill. We don't plan on ever going agin. We have been there numerous times, but I think that this was the worst ever."

  • "We've been dining here for my son's birthday every year, April 1st to be exact.. This place is the bestest every year. Outstanding service as always and food is phenominal. I recommend the crab mac and cheese as one of the side."

  • "My wife and I were celebrating our 5th anniversary and it was an excellent choice for the venue. The food was very, very good (we both had steaks), and the service was also really good. They have a very good wine list and everything we've tried so far is very good. The place is a little noisy."

  • "When we came to Houston, I wanted to try Texan steak, tex-mex, and BBQ. I scratched the last two off the list and needed to fulfill the first. We were told repeatedly by many people that Pappas is the best in town. After dining there, we were under little doubt. The food was amazing, service was friendly and awesome, and just a total great experience. I had the bone-in ribeye. my wife had the filet mignon. They cooked my steak as perfectly as I asked - charred outside, between medium and medium rare inside. They nailed it! We had the marshmellow dessert, mashed potatoes, and onion rings. EVERYTHING we tried was top notch and I would strongly recommend. Chris was our server and he and all the staff were exemplary!"

  • "Fantastic steaks and desserts. Sides orders are enormous."

  • "We really enjoyed a special night at Pappas Brothers. Our waiter was very helpful with wine selection, which was great considering the wine list is well over 100 pages long! We really enjoyed our food, and also the piano player, in the bar area."

  • "The service and food were great. really enjoyed our evening out."

  • "We had the big filet which was phenomenal the steakhouse salad and the crab mac & cheese. Everything was great!"
    Dined on 3/20/2014
  • "Food was awesome. We were in the back room behind the bar, it was very loud due to the fact that there were several families also seated back there."
    Dined on 3/15/2014
  • "One of the best bone-in ribeye's I've ever had. Melts in your mouth delicous!"

  • "Best service of any restaurant I've been to in Houston, from beginning to end. The Sommelier nailed it. I brought some family members from out of town and was not disappointed."
    Dined on 3/15/2014
  • "Pappas exceeded our expectations! The food was amazing and we got a romantic table in an enclosed area. Both my husband and I had a steak - he the bone in Ribeye and me the 8 oz tenderloin. They were cooked to perfection and we ate every last bite. The creamed spinach was divine as well!"

  • "Nice dinner overall. No major complaints, but considering the high prices, I'm not entirely sure it was worth it. We had to wait 30 minutes to get a table despite the fact we had a reservation. The service was mediocre, our waiter seemed very busy and took a while to bring bread and drinks out. The food was pretty good, steak had nice flavor but I definitely wouldn't order medium rare next time. My filet was much more rare and chewy than I am used to. Mushrooms are a must and asparagus were also nice. You're guaranteed to have a nice meal, just be prepared to pay the price. $$$$."

  • "We sat in the very back of the restaurant, in the middle of two other tables and it was not private or romantic at all. This was our first experience here. The waiter, Eric, was great. however, the family sitting next to us, he told us, come in once a week. So he paid extra attention to them and a lot of time with them. The couple on the other side of us hadnt been there in a year but were back for their anniversary and wanted wine and whiskey. When the sommelier and the gentleman with the whiskey bar came over, they were talking so loud that my fiance and I could not even hear each other. I was hoping for a special evening and that is why we picked this restaurant. The food was good but not anything extraordinary."

  • "The food here is always outstanding, and there are very few places that serve dry aged steaks. However, if your waiter ever recommends something, make sure you find out the price first."

  • "This night was great! Started out rough and almost had to cancel but restaraunt was ver accommodating. Once we were there it only got better! The Lobster deviled eggs were awesome! The wine selections and waiter knowledge was great. Steak and seafood were prepared perfectly and the Turtle pie was to die for (paired with a Port)! I highly recommend this restaurant!"

  • "This is simply the best steak restaurant in Houston! Whenever I'm in Houston, I go to Pappas. When you want an upper crust restaurant with a high level service and outstanding food and ambience, this is the place."

  • "I was driving our Vice President (From Italy) from Dallas to Houston and when I asked what he would like for dinner. Without hesitation he answered STEAK. I set up the reservation from my phone, from the minute we arrived until the time we left it was a 5 star experience, such that i received an knuckle congratulations from the VP. The bone in ribeyes were fantastici, the asparagus perfect and AuGratin Potatoes were great. Our waitress Carolina was ever smiling and gracious."

  • "Food was good. Service was not. Too pricey. Booths are too deep so waiter can't reach you and you end up being your own waiter..."
    Dined on 3/12/2014
  • "Steakhouse 101 is cooking the steak to the correct temperature, and they overcooked my steak, then in round 2 (after waiting 15 more minutes) undercooked my guest's steak. Just unexcusable. Good service and ambiance but will stick to the chains."

  • "For years, we have considered Pappas Bros our top choice in Houston dining. The service is always excellent- thanks Richard. The steaks are always prepared perfectly. The wine list is overwhelming, even for a moderately astute wine connoisseur. Chris, the Sommelier was extremely helpful in suggesting a wine that fit our style and preferences, and one that was new to us. It would be a shame to have a wine cellar the size of a warehouse at your disposal, and simply select one of the tried and true selections that I can find anywhere and have in my cooler at home. Sommeliers at Pappas and elsewhere have helped us add to our 'A-list' of wines by introducing us to something we have never heard of before. For that we are grateful."

  • "For me, ratting Pappas Bros. is like trying to rate a da Vinci or Picasso. For me Pappas Bros. has achieved that mark were they are the masters, and everyone else is the pupil. It is not the only high-end steak house I've ever eaten at, but It's the only one I've ever bothered to go back to, and look forward to returning to again. As far as I know they are the only ones left in Texas still dry aging their beef. Aside from the incredible steaks, there is also seafood and some incredible sides (each of which can easily feed 3 or four people. I would recommend the asparagus and the crab-mac-and-cheese, which isn't on the menu, but they always have it. Pappas Bros. is what a steak house should be. Expensive, but worth the experience."
