  • "We were recommended to Pappas Bros steakhouse by two locals and a review article on best steakhouses in Houston, so when we were in town on business, we had a dinner there to remember. The drinks were delicious, and the wine list was a tome. We started with the beef carpaccio, which is served on a block of Himalayan rock salt and had amazing flavor. We ordered oysters and crab cakes. The oysters were excellent, and while the crab cakes were good, I'd pass on them next time. The steaks were incredible with rich flavor. We ordered the aged, bone in porterhouse and strip steak, medium rare, with a char on the outside. The steaks were the best we'd ever had. Finish it off with a cheesecake slice big enough for 2 or 3. Go here. Be Happy"

I guess as long as they are filling the tables every night and oil is $100 per bbl, the prices will keep going up. Too bad. I'll look for a new steakhouse."

  • "I made a reservation for 9:15 and was not seated until 9:45 and was put in a back room that felt like a hallway. There were just two of us. We should have been offered the bar along the kitchen when it was clear they did not have a table for us. Then the service was attentive from the water and plate clearing person but slow from our waiter. We were never even offered dessert and were there for an occasion when dessert is in order! The food was excellent and the wine list is incredible. I just want to be treated better when I am paying so much money."

  • "I made a reservation to celebrate my husband's birthday 2 weeks in advance & mentioned it upon checking in. We were seated right by the restroom doorway! We sat with our backs to the door but it was very distracting. No one ever mentioned his birthday. I'll never go back to eat there for a special celebration as there are too many other restaurants that take care to make your celebrations special."

First, our table: we were put in a small, isolated room off the main dining area. No music/ less romantic ambiance than the central section. Second, the restaurant had run out of asparagus as a side item, which disappointed us. Other than that, the steak was cooked to perfection and the wine selection was fantastic. Also, impeccable service."

  • "I decided to take my Daughter to a nice dinner while her Mom was out of town. The experience couldn't have been better. Our meals were cooked to perfection. My Daughter repeatedly said that it was the best food she has ever had. Great ambiance, excellent wait staff, enjoyable in every way. We will be back as soon as we can."

  • "I took my wife on our wedding anniversary to have the large lobster tail. I have had it before and this time I was disappointed in its size, texture and how it was presented. In the past, it was literally the size of my two fists side by side. This time it was half that and the cost was the same $80. It was presented in its shell. Maybe lobster has increased in price, but you just don't get what you used to get anymore. My medium rare ribeye was medium, but I did not send it back. Next time I eat a steak in a restaurant, I will order it rare. Then they have a chance to get the same piece of meat right."

  • "This is Pappas Restaurant prize steakhouse. I'm not a big steak eater, but the steaks here are the best! The menu is pricey, but it is truly worth it to celebrate special occasions. The staff is very knowledgeable and accommodating. The insisted on providing me a dark colored napkin to match my dark colored pants."

  • "The food and drinks are exactly what you'd expect from a high end steakhouse: good quality, large portions, well prepared, massively overpriced. No surprises there. The big problem here is their inability to honor reservations. Plan on being herded into an over packed bar area to cool your heals for at least 45 minutes to an hour after arriving on time for your reservation. Bottom line - when you're dropping this kind of money on a meal the restaurant needs to be hitting on all cylinders - there are several better choices in town for a pleasant steakhouse experience."

  • "This is a great steakhouse, in the traditional manner. Great beef & seafood, wonderful wedge salad. One drawback: a big emphasis on cheap liquor. The waiter was pushing a Yexas wine that "you can buy for $12 a bottle," and when we ordered Amaretto di Sorrano, we were told it wasn't carried there. The waiter said they like to "simplify their ordering and inventory" by ordering knock-off liqueurs all from one company, rather than name brands. Dumb explanation, tacky selection."

  • "We were sat in the wine room which is more intimate than the larger dining room. It allowed us to have a quieter experience. The steaks were the best ever. Our server was attentive, knowledgeable and very pleasant. When I booked the reservation on Open Table I wrote in the notes that we were celebrating a birthday. The hostess, our waiter and others who serviced our table were aware of the Birthday and all said Happy Birthday. We ordered two deserts and both came with Happy Birthday on the plates and both deserts were comped for us. We had a wonderful time and can't wait to go back again. The ambiance of the restaurant throughout is very Texas, manly and upscale."

Also, the MILK CHOCOLATE MOUSSE & TOASTED MARSHMALLOW dessert is out of this world!! We absolutely loved it. Highly, highly recommend that you save room for this dessert. Great ambience, excellent service, excellent food. Will definitely be going back!"

Turns out that I love steak - but only the properly cooked, choicest cut of beef. I wanted to curl up with that steak like my new favorite teddy bear and dream about filets, sirloin and much, much more. An excellent restaurant with excellent food."

  • "Best in Houston and Pappas in Dallas is best there as well. I have been here as well as most other steakhouses in Houston many times. Pappas tops them all in my opinion. They have a great menu that they execute perfectly every single time. Consistency and great dishes always satisfy and although they may be the highest priced place for steak in Houston, it is definitely worth it!"

  • "Chose 18 oz dry aged bone in NY Strip. USDA prime. Steaks are cut in house so I requested extra thick and was accommodated. Perfectly cooked med rare, red warm center. Dry seasoning with peppercorn and salt maybe a tad too much, but easy to scrape off. Great flavor with the hint of dry aged taste. Favorite steakhouse in Houston. Would love to try the larger 32 oz version on bone in strip, but need to do it another time!"
