Every time I have dined at Pappas Brothers in the past I would have given it 5 stars. But this time my steak was mediocre and the service was somewhat rushed. This time I would give it 3 stars. Hopefully they were just having an off night.

Overall, our group of 6 had a good enough experience, but there were some disappointments. At a steakhouse like this, I expect the steaks to be perfect, and alas, they were not. My husband's steak was ordered medium, & came to the table well done. Additionally, 3 of us (myself included) ordered the filet duo. Although the filet was properly cooked & the toppings were heavenly, both my order & our son's steak was a bit tough & chewy. Prior to this, I have NEVER had a filet anywhere that was not extremely tender. It was almost as if the filet had been portioned/cut WITH the grain. On the menu, the filet was listed as "medallions", but did not have that appearance on the plate. I am @ a loss to understand what the problem was. However, when I'm paying $50 for an a la carte, prime steak aged 28 days, it should, above all else, be tender. I will say the sides we ordered were fabulous! However, most diners go to a high-end steakhouse first for the steaks, & not the sides. On a more positive note, our waiter was good without hovering, & the atmosphere was nice. We were seated in the "wine" room, & although the room was relatively small, it was much quieter that the main dining room, & allowed conversation without having to raise ones voice.

I took my boyfriend to Pappas for his birthday. Both the hostess and server greeted him with a Happy Birthday. The server, Tyrell, was friendly and professional. He was knowledgeable of the menu and was able to provide suggestions. Both my boyfriend and I travel extensively each week and have gone to several restaurants throughout the world. Pappas is, undoubtedly, one of THE BEST steakhouses we have ever been to. Everything we ate, from the skillet potatoes to the lobster mac-n-cheese, was superb! And the steaks were absolutely outstanding! This place is definitely a go-to for both special events and customer entertainment. Thank you for a wonderful evening!

I eat at high end steak restaurants all the time, and I usually bounce between TruLucks, Bob's, Three Forks, and Del Frisco's. At all of these I order the same thing, the bone in filet...mainly because I love a good bone-in, but also as a good gauge. My wife and I decided to try Pappas Bros, as it was in the top steak restaurants in D magazine a few years ago, and we were not disappointed by the food. The bar was great when we got there, although the waitress was not very friendly. The drinks were great pours, and they had a great piano player with a cello. Our table was ready earlier than the 8:15 reservations, but when we sat down it was at a two top all the way to the back and right...I mean to the very back of the restaurant, small table, and since I let my wife face out, I had a nice view of the servicing station. Our service was excellent, and our waiter was wonderful with wine selections. Finally, the bone-in filet beat out the restaurants above, which is tough for me to concede. On the seating, I know maybe it may sound a little trivial to gripe about our seating, but think about it. If you are paying $50 plus for just the steak...plus apps, the rest of dinner, and wine, you don't want to be facing the service area (of course I had my wife to look at as well).

We went here for my husband's birthday and requested a quiet secluded table. Were delighted that they placed us in one of the "wine rooms" where it was quiet and we could actually talk during dinner. The other areas are nice but the noise level in those areas is at least at the moderate level because afterall, it is a steak house and everyone is having a great time. The staff was extremely attentive and everyone from the valet to the bus boy to the server and the manager all thanked us for coming and checked with us throughout the evening to be sure that we were pleased. The food was outstanding and cooked perfectly to our tastes. We were extremely happy with our experience and will definitely return for the next special occasion!

Great aged steaks - trimmed poorly (gristle on a filet?), cooked just adequately, overinflated prices, and far too many people trying to impress you with reputation instead of service. Be prepared for a wait once you arrive (w/ 20% empty); so they can make certain you buy an overpriced cocktail in their crowded bar area - right by the front door. This way, new people arriving will say "Wow! Look how popular this place is!" Every steak we ordered was cooked poorly (over cooked some, under cooked others so it's not even consistent). Spent the next three hours "looking for our waiter". (Something I've never experienced in supposedly "higher end" fine dining... usually you have to tell them "We're fine...") Forget finding a decent $100 wine.

Pappa Bros. provides an upscale yet relaxed dining experience. The decor is reminiscent of great 1930 restaurants, the service is top notch but not stuffy, and the steaks are wonderful. A huge wine list (with expert advice available), excellent sides and desserts make for a memorable evening. Unfortunately cigar smoking is no longer permitted as it was in the good old days. Even so, I haven't found a steakhouse that I like better.

Very short wait even though we had reservations. It was a Saturday night so we expected it to be busy, but the noise level was pretty high. Had to speak up to be heard by dining companions so definitely not a very romantic place. The steak was excellent & done as requested. Filet is the only choice if you want 8oz of meat; everything else is bigger. Potato Au Gratin was very rich & cheesy. Asparagus was cooked appropriately. They were very nice & gave us dessert to go since we were too full, but we were celebrating a birthday & anniversary.

We were lucky to get seated by the fireplace. The ambience is wonderful. We decided to forgo appetizers and share the porterhouse. The filet portion was perfectly cooked medium rare and melted in our mouths. The New York strip portion was a little bit more medium than medium rare, so I made my husband eat most of that. The crab macaroni and cheese was delicious, but I was hoping for lobster mac & cheese. The cream of spinach was a haven of delicious butter flavor. We had the turtle cake is dessert, and it was decadent. But at that point I was very full.

While my wife and I thoroughly enjoyed the overall experience and the support of the staff, my wife's steak was cooked incorrectly not once but twice. She ultimately didn't eat her steak there, but rather took it home and cooked it through more the next day. We couldn't stay too much longer due to babysitter to afford a 3rd chance. However I will commend our server and manager for responding with empathy to the mis-cooked steak. The other parts of our meal were outstanding hence the reason, even w/ the error on the steak, I felt compelled to give 4 stars. The Sommelier's choice of wine was spot on given the taste description I provided her.

I took my significant other to Pappas Bros. for his birthday. We were greeted by the friendly staff and waited at the lovely bar until our table was ready. Our waitress was enthusiastic and knowledgeable about everything on the menu. She made wine recommendations that were not only tasty, but also did not break the bank. We both ordered steaks, au gratin potatoes, and lobster mac n' cheese. The mac n' cheese had HUGE chunks of lobster throughout and the potatoes were creamy and decedent. The steaks were cooked to perfection! The establishment gave us a fine dining experience without the stuffiness of some places. The environment was relaxed and casual, but still romantic and appropriately "fancy". we thoroughly enjoyed my experience!

The food here is so delicious and the service is wonderful. You know the food is good when you have to travel with leftovers the next day (5 hour road trip) and reheat the food and it tastes even better! Pappas is our favorite go to spot for a romantic date night to satisfy our steak (and lobster deviled eggs and turtle pie craving) whenever we're in Dallas or Houston. Always a memorable evening when we come here for dinner! Staff is friendly, menu is a la carte, pricey but worth it. Portions are generous in size and cooked perfectly. We opted for the bacon wrapped scallops and the house salad to start with, both very tasty but the highlight are the entrees: the meat. We had the ribeye and filet mignon, huge portions and so delicious! The meat is so tender and they dry age it here. The mac and cheese as a side item was yummy as well and we ended it with a one of a kind pecan pie for dessert. Will definitely be back.

I probably spend too much money dining out and I have had my fair share of steaks. However, this place is over the top for a steakhouse and my steak was crunchy on the outside. The restaurant, however, is lovely and our waiter, Daryl did a good job. $240 for three ladies, that don't eat very much, is ridiculous. That's with only 2 glasses of wine and a free birthday dessert for my friend. I will say that the roasted mushrooms were great! The house salad was tasty (as it should be)... the dressing was supposed to be the avocado I read about, and I'm sure it was, but it tasted like they used a caesar/anchovy base; maybe it saves them time. I had high hopes for Pappas; had been told it was the best steak around. Nope.

We had a wonderful dinner at Papa's Steakhouse. We first sat in the bar and listened to the pleasant live music while we had a drink. After a short wait, we were seating in a side room that was very quiet and we were then waited on quickly. We split the caesar salad and each had steaks for dinner. My husband had the 12 oz. filet and I had the Duo of filets which consists of two small filets, one topped with bearnaise sauce and crab the other with a mushroom wine sauce. We also order the steak fries and green beans. Everything we ordered was delicious. We didn't finish our dinner and so we did not order dessert but they looked terrific too.
