  • Quality of food was disappointing
    OpenTable Diner Since 2014

The restaurant has a pleasant feel and decor. The staff is friendly and very attentive. But the main attraction, The Food was disappointing. The seafood in the The Seafood Tower did not taste fresh at all. It smelt and taste like it was left over from another day, possibly longer. The Skillet Potatoes had an overcooked and unpleasant muddle flavor. The Roasted Wild Mushrooms, are not wild mushrooms and had a heavy overbearing seasoning/marinade. It was obvious that sides sit in a warmer all day. Very little attention is given to quality food preparation. Steaks were prepared correctly and were good. The Turtle Pie, Martini cocktail and wine were great. Seems like the kitchen has cooks and No Chef. Disappointing at this price point.

If you are a steak lover, this place is a MUST! Our choices were beef and beef, with the Rib Eye a delicious medium rare, and the filet a tad more on the rare side. Both were tender, juicy and delicious. We also had a lobster tail addition, which was also fresh and cooked to perfection. And the mac & cheese (with crab meat) was a great take home dish for us, a terrific breakfast for the morning after such a big feast. Extensive wine list, terrific service...pricey but worth the spend for a special occasion.

6 friends in town for the football game. From my on line research I chose Pappas Brothers Steak House. From the drinks in the bar to our dinner everyone was impressed and this is a hard crowd to impress! My New York Strip was the best I have ever had and I am a steak guy. Everyone in our group agreed the steaks were some of the best they had ever had. The evening was perfect - there was nothing that could have been improved upon!

Pappas Brothers Steak House is a legend and now I know why. The food, service and place itself are all perfect! We shared the smaller of the porterhouse steaks and it was more then enough for two. It was perfectly aged, cooked and seasoned. The wild mushrooms and creamed spinach that we ordered with it were fabulous versions of the classic steak accompaniments. The service was outstanding from hostess to server to sommelier. The latter was especially helpful. Their wine list is the longest I have ever seen, with thousands of offerings. Our waiter too was most helpful and pleasant. Then there is the place itself. It is not only beautiful but immaculate. This is one very well run restaurant.

We came for our anniversary and the service and food were really good as usual. They put us in the side room with a low ceiling and it was so loud that I couldn't hear the server at all and could barely converse with my husband. Not very romantic. But the food was great. Recommend sharing the scalloped potatoes - they were wonderful!

Went to Pappas for the first time to celebrate my son's visit on leave from the Air Force. Several members of the staff made a point to come by the table and thank him for his service. The server was knowledgeable and perfectly paced. The wine list was incredible and the food well, it was the best steak I've had in Dallas in 40 years of dinning. The crab mac and cheese is to die for! We were treated like the royal family. Expensive but worth every penny!

We arrived and was seated immediately. A familiar face, Brian, came up and we exchanged pleasantry's. He took our normal drink orders and then we asked for the sommelier to help us select a good wine with our dinner. Brian then went over then specials and there was one that peaked my interest. So dinner was ordered and it was absolutely delicious. My wife received her complimentary birthday dessert which was key lime pie. Because my birthday was a week earlier Brian spelled happy birthday in chocolate on the plate and put two candles on it. Tha to me is caring for the customer. Brian is very caring for all his customer's. He treats everyone the same. He is definately an asset to Pappas Brothers Restuarant. It was indeed a special night.

It's been a few years since I've dined at Pappa Bros. The quality, service, and decorum have neither faded or wavered. I dined solo and was treated as outstandingly as when bringing in parties 10+. Food is excellent and prepared exceptionally. This time I really appreciated the geographical location's convenience. This is on top of my short list of Dallas dining when visiting for work or play.

Pappas Bros. steakhouse always serves great steaks and offers wonderful service. Even though we have several steak places within a mile of our home, we make the drive to Pappas because we know the food will always be amazing. Most recently, we dined during the last day of Restaurant week in Dallas. It was quite the meal (at another steak place we also ordered the three course restaurant meal and the portions were noticeably small) for a $45 3 course prix fixe dinner. We still each ended up taking our leftovers home including a full size dessert! This is why we love Pappas as do our three teenagers!

We have gone to several of the top steak houses since we have moved back here. This one is THE BEST! I wish they would open one in North Dallas Suburbs. The food is just wonderful to match the quality of the steaks. The filet just melts in your mouth. The veggies are done to a perfect degree. And the cheesecake is to die for. Tastes like home made. And my mint julep was so special served in the authentic metal cup also. Cannot wait to go back!

My wife and I took our two college boys, one of their girlfriends, along with my high school son out for my birthday. It is hard getting everyone together anymore. We wanted to go somewhere nice, but not too expensive. The Restaurant Week special allowed us to go somewhere we normally would not. Everything was wonderful, from the steaks, lobster, desserts, wine, ambiance, to the service. Top notch. We'll done.

From start to finish I was in awe. Our server was extremely friendly and knowledgeable when it came to the menu. She explained everything in detail. In our group we had someone with a peanut allergy, and the manager came personally to explain how the kitchen was set up to help avoid the issue. Everyone was extremely polite and courteous. For the most part when I order medium rare I never get it prepared the way I got it done here. Cooked to perfection. By the way it was the NY strip dry aged. I am definitely coming back here again.

Their waits are far longer than they tell you. We arrived 1/2 hour early for a 8:30pm reservation, hoping to be seated early. Instead we were seated a half hour late at 9 PM. To be fair the manager came by to apologized and offered us free desserts. The food is very good but we did not like the mushrooms which were too rich.

I have been to Pappas several times over the years and it is always exceptional steak. It is melt in your mouth tender and has wonderful flavor. I have tried multiple cuts, and everything has been fabulous. Over the years I have tried multiple other steak restaurants, but I don't know that any are better...Some may be close to as good, but when asked where in Dallas has the best steak, my first thought is Pappas.

We were so excited to try this iconic Dallas hot spot but left very disappointed. After making the drive from Frisco and entering the land of strip clubs, walking into Pappas was like stepping back in time to the Frank Sinatra era. While the ambiance was different than expected, it was interesting and a good trip back in time. The food was good, but IMO not worth the drive over great steak houses much closer (Bob's, Capitol Grill, etc). Service was the pits and that was really the biggest damper of the night. They do have a great wine list and an excellent Sommelier.
