  • "I brought some friends out during the KRLD Restaurant Week so they could experience this great restaurant for the first time. The only two negative things I can think of are...there was a thick and long piece of gristle on the highly recommended New York strip. With the lighting extremely low there was no easy way to "see" the gristle in order to cut it off. A phone flashlight had to be used in order to see well enough to remove it to avoid chewing on another piece and trying to awkwardly dispose of it. I'm sure it was an oversight in the kitchen but it did leave a feeling of the food being less than exquisite which it normally is. Other than that, service, flavors, wine, atmosphere, etc. - excellent!"

  • "What an amazing experience...from steak, to the cold water lobster, amazing wine and fantastic service.... We were celebrating my wife anniversary. We chose Pappas Bros because we wanted something special. Our server, Blake was spot on with his recommendations and was very knowledgable. My wife had an amazing filet mignon, I had the NY Strip. We shared a cold water lobster tail, yummy creamed spinach and incredible crab mac&cheese. I highly recommend Pappas Brothers Steak House and ask for Blake!"

  • "Our reservation was during restaurant week, which worked in our favor. They had a special menu from which you could choose a salad, entre and dessert. The entres from the special menu included small sides of potato and vegetable, where their regular menu is a la carte. The filets were cooked to perfection and the chocolate peanut butter cake was fantastic! Our waiter and assistant waiter were attentive without being overwhelming. The water glasses were filled regularly. The meal was well-timed, allowing a bit of conversation (and digestion) between courses. We were there for two hours, including drinks, appetizers, meal and desserts. My only complaint is that it was so dark, I had a very hard time reading the menu."

  • "This experience was FANTASTIC! The wine list was like a romance novel (like 200 pages), the menu was truly a treat and the food was superb! I really liked this place (it is a lot better than the reviews I read) and I would love to go back, but it will definitely have to be a planned event. They are very proud of their food (based on the prices) and I will say it was very good! Take your parents or your significant other, ambiance was cool, but it was loud due to the full house! They did not recognize the occasion we were celebrating, but the previous reviews did state the staff was pretentious...go check it out yourself, but make sure you are prepared to for $$$$!!!!"

  • "I haven't been to Pappa's Steak in years and it was just as delicious as I remembered. We were there with a group during restaurant week, some got the prefix menu some ordered off the regular, both were outstanding! Service was friendly and attentive, recommendations of mushrooms and lobster mac n' cheese were out of this world. Filet was honestly the best I've ever had! Pricey but not overpriced for what you get."

  • "Good choices for Restaurant week, good value. The salmon and new York strip was excellent. The key lime pie was a good choice and big enough for two. I do think the steaks from the regular menu are even better, or at least the rib eye I've had in the past was better tasting (I normally eat rib eye's not New York Strips). The bread offered at start of meal was served hot and had a great crust. I also ordered extra cost turtle gumbo, although different than normal gumbo, was very tasty. I will be back."

  • "Had a wonderful dining experience here. Although a bit frentic and noisy, we had a really nice experience here. We came on a Tuesday during Restaurant week, which was a deal. $45 for an appetizer, entree and dessert. The steak alone would have been $45 on a regular night. I started with a Caesar Salad, then had the 8oz filet topped with a grilled shrimp and mushroom ragout which also came with mashed potatoes and green beans, then finished it off with a chocolate peanut butter cake (add $5). Everything was well prepared and the portion left you full and satisfied. Service was efficient and attentive, not pretentious or snooty. I thought Ruth's Chris was going to be the only steak house I love, but now I've found another."

  • "First visit to Pappas Bros steakhouse. Restaurant week menu - starter was a choice of salads - the Ceasar and house salads were good and plentiful. Of course, we went for the filet and NY Strip options - both were dry aged, delicious and cooked perfectly. Portion was so generous we brought 1/2 of each of our steaks home. Generous sides were also included. Desserts - Key lime pie and cheesecake were great. Service was terrific from our waitress to the sommelier. Wine list is incredible. We have been to many steakhouses in DFW and this ranks among the best (beating out -in our opinion - trendy new ones with hothead celeb chefs). Loved it."

  • "Onion rings, salads, filets and potatoes were excellent. Desserts were good, but the key lime pie is too short and the incredibly tall cheesecake needs strawberry sauce topping. Pappas personnel are very attentive; they noticed that we were bothered by a very loud group of 8-10 men at a table next to us and offered to move us to a table in another area. We declined because we didn't want to move in the middle of our meal, but we appreciated their concern. (We thought the guys would quieten after their steaks arrived, but they never seemed to recognize that they weren't the only diners in the restaurant as they filled the main dining room time and time again with their raucous laughter!)"

I say "remarkably" because I have been to many steak restaurants, and the taste of the ribeye and the strips exceeded my expectations. BUT, you pay for it. $50+ for most steaks on the menu. I would only go on the company dime. The Tomato with Roquefort cheese was phenomenal. 1-1/2 tomatoes. Almost couldn't finish it."

The New York style cheese cake was delicious (the slice was enough for 3 people). I was very impressed with the service and the food was excellent!   • "All in all the place is very good but there are a few things I didn't like. The place was too dark for a restaurant and the noise level was a bit too much, you almost feel like you are in a lounge and that's not exactly how I want to feel when I go to a restaurant. It's a steak house so you will definitely not make a wrong choice going with the steak; it is not the best I've ever had in my life but it come pretty close. Drinks are really good, no complaints with that. And the service is superb. Skip the desserts, they are really not good, but on the other hand we are talking about a steak house after all. Everything considered I still think it is a solid place for a dinner - I just expected everything to be impeccable with that price tag."
