The service and food are excellent. It is festive, but it is never noisy.
What we like best is that there is no attempt at Pappardella to be anything other than what it is--

Has nice ambiance with exposed brick wall and very attentive service. Menu has something for everyone but leans toward pasta and classic Italian dishes. I had a leg of lamb which was perfectly prepared with a terrific mint jelly while my husband had a pasta dish which he thought was delicious. There was a family with 5 children next to our table and the waitstaff was very accommodating to this family who did not bother us one bit. The food is consistently excellent, as is the service. The ambiance is wonderful, too. The decor is contemporary, with just a touch of Tuscany. To me, Pappardella is NYC's closest thing to a cafe at St Mark's square. Try it just once, and you are bound to fall in love with Pappardella. My favorite?
