A word from Paparazzi Ristorante Italiano
Paparazzi is dedicated to the idea that every guest should be treated like a star. The restaurant reflects the philosophy of blending the classical and neo-classical elements of everyday Italian life. The menu offers classical Italian dishes that have become part of the American tapestry, while introducing its fair share of the interpretive, creative, and innovative. The regional recipes are authentic and passed down from generation to generation. They are marked by freshness and seasonality. The WOOD-FIRED OVEN, visible from every seat in the dining room, imparts a special flavor and aroma to the Artisan Pizza as well as other specially prepared dishes. Imaginative desserts put an exclamation point on the dining experience.
The Wine List is designed to take the stress out of the selection process. While it is descriptive and friendly, the knowledgeable staff is eager to assist.

Diner Reviews
  • "My friend and I met for an early dinner at papparazi. I had the steak balsamic salad and she had the chicken parm. We both were very impressed with every aspect of our dining experience. Everything was top-notch. This place is a mostly unknown gem but very worth seeking out."

  • "The deserts at this restaurant are the best part. Don't miss them"

  • "We had a great birthday dinner for our daughter and her family. Food and service were excellent. It was her first time there and she loved it."

  • "Salad description did not say bacon, for a vegetarian it was an unpleasant surprise to see a big piece of meat on the salad so watch out. Pizza was fresh but had no flavor, they didn't offer any parmisian, nor did the waitress check on us until it was too late to ask for it. We sat fir a good half hour until they brought the bread during the appetizer. Espresso was not strong enough and we were told it didn't come stronger, and the tea water was luke warm- waitress almost spilled it onto customer. When we first got there we were told the window table that was empty was for a reservation, and we had a reservation. I felt that there was not a manager working because for such a beautiful restaurant they really had no clue what they were doing."

  • "I love this restaurant. I love the food, service and the atmosphere. I am going to try LOBSTER NIGHT tonight!"

  • "This is the best Italian restaurant I have found in Raleigh. Last night we tried two different appetizers and two different main courses and couldn't believe how good they tasted. The wine list is good. The tables seem to be oversized which means we were more comfortable. My wife had the Eggplant parmigan and thought it was outstanding. She also loved their Napoleon Pizza. I had the Spaghetti with Bolognese sauce as well as the meatball appetizer. The sauces on each of our entries was spectacular. I saw you had an oyster night as well as a Easter Brunch. We hope to make both."

  • "My husband and I came to Paparrazi for a date night. We were seated in the small half-round booth which is cozy and our favorite place to sit. Our waitress was excellent. She friendly, helpful and gave excellent service. She recommended the flounder special which was excellent. The chef came to our table and we enjoyed talking with him. Martinis were fixed just perfect. Thank you for a great evening"

  • "It is not the first time to dine in Paparazzi, so we like it, the group is a group that dines together every week and we like it here, so expect us to show up again."

  • "We live within minutes of Paparazzi and it has become our "go-to" place. Their menu has expanded since they first opened and we can always find something different that sounds good, even if we've just been. My favorites are the Salmon Portofino and the pork chop ww/brussel sprouts. Solid vegetarian/gluten-free menu, which matters in my family. Good wine list. Great outside seating on the rim of the Lafayette Village courtyard-provided you don't mind people meandering about. Joe, the owner, is very personable. Wait staff are usually spot on."

  • "Their monthly lobster dinner is excellent. We highly recommend it."

  • "We love the food and the ambiance of Paparazzi. They have a pizza bar that is fun to sit at. You can enjoy ordering anything off the menu while watching the skilled pizza maker create delicious fresh pizzas as the orders pour in. The setting of the restaurant is very romantic and warm. The food is delicious. I've enjoyed everything I've tried so far. On this past visit, we sat at a regular table and appreciated the size of it...big enough for 4 comfortably, but still cozy enough so that the two of us were still close. It was a little noisy, but that's OK. Everything else about the night was just right. We'll be back!"

  • "We chose Paparazzi on Saturday 3/1 for our birthday dinner and we were so glad we did! First good sign is was very busy so we knew you were somewhere good. The hostess was gracious and professional. Our server, Rick, established with us once he brought the first round of drinks that we were there to savor and enjoy our experience so his timing was impeccable the whole evening. He had great knowledge of the food, presented the specials wonderfully and was always right there as glasses approached empty, but never making us feel rushed. The dishes were all superb, hot and timely with nice spacing between courses. Favorites were the Burrata and mushroom ravioli. Hope we return sooner than later. Thanks for making this a night to remember!!"

  • "From the wine list, to the Burrata (best I've had in Raleigh), to the lovely ambiance, everything was wonderful. We stopped in before the symphony and had a great dinner. My wife had a perfect pizza, and I had the Salmon Portofino (sp?). The server informed me that they serve the salmon medium temp, unless I'd like it cooked more. I said medium was fine, and it did come out slightly overcooked (the only disappointing thing about our visit), but still delicious. Service was excellent throughout."

  • "My husband and I along with my daughters dined for Valentines. The restaurant was very pleasant and the food was great. My oldest had the special and enjoyed it very much. I waiter suggested it after she ask him about the choices. He was very helpful and answered any question we had...we will return again because I would love to have wood fired pizza. The smell were very appealing"

  • "The only Italian restaurant in the area with good Italian bread. (It should be served with roasted garlic in olive oil, as Georgio's once did,) Everything on the well-rounded menu is done well. The waitstaff is attentive and caring ("Rick" is especially good), and Joe, the owner, provides engaging conversation if that's to your liking. Paparazzi's wine list is OK. I'm a fan of deep, full-bodied reds (such as those they tap off huge barrels in the cafes of Rome)--and the Piane di Maggio from Montepulciano has no equal in this area as far as I know. A fully-pleasant, all-around experience."

  • "We had a great experience at Paparazzi. The service was really great, the food was fantastic, the wine list was good and well priced, the desert was incredible, we had the red velvet cake, it was huge and delicious. I will definitely go back, and would definitely recommend that you give it a try."

  • "Nice place, nice staff, but food was below average. In Italy they would kill for such a lame food they are serving. Pasta was overcooked, the sauce was tasteless, the meat was dry. They do have a nice variety of vines, cocktails. We once were there on Lobster night, and it was a nice experience. But otherwise would not recommend."

  • "The wood fire ovens created an aroma that makes you feel all comfy and welcime. Our waiter was outstanding. It was their monthly "Oyster Night" & I was really looking forward to it. I must say they were good...just good, not great. Great place for small groups of friends and foodies. Of course I will go again and again but probably will not order the oysters unless they reduce the breading on the fried ones and reduce the frozen spinich pile on the Rockerfellers. The parm cheese was missing on the Rockafellers. overall, pizza is still my favorite meal there. onr surprising thing at the end of our night was when a man came to our table, looking to "pick us up" for him and his friends. That was unwelcomed and awkward."

  • "Spent a long weekend in Raleigh, NC visiting friends and wanted to do brunch before heading back home. We 'googled' brunch locations for the area and Paparazzi came up as a top spot. We went in not knowing what to expect and came out happy and full. The food was great, fresh and a nice offering with the culinary team monitoring the food constantly. Our server was very attentive and friendly and what I assume was the owner or Manager spent a lot of time on the floor assisting and interacting with the dining guests. As a food industry professional I was very impressed by the relaxed environment and quality of food. I will definitely be coming back to this restaurant on my next travels through Raleigh."

  • "As soon as I walked in, I loved the environment and we were greeted very authentically and as soon as we walked in by the host. The host chatted with us while our table was getting ready. We were seated, but were only given one menu because they had run out and said they would get one to us as soon as possible. We did not receive until a while later. We ordered with one server and then another server came over asked us to order with him again because the other server did not tell him. Our server was pleasant but kind of mumbled so it was difficult to hear him and he seemed a bit awkward. We ordered the stuffed portabella for an app and it was great but I was not overly excited with my meal, it wasn't as flavorful as I thought it would be."

  • "Our experience with this restaurant was not good and we're not food snobs. The service was fine and the ambiance was very nice. We really wanted the meal to be nice, especially since all the dishes can be made as Gluten Free. Unfortunately, everything we horrible. We had a salad pre-tossed with dressing that tasted like watered down mayo. My husband had the salmon over polenta. The salmon was overcooked and topped with essentially tomato paste - literally. Even the polenta literally had zero flavor. I had the same exact experience with the bolognese sauce on my pasta."

  • "Our waiter was superior. We started with a nice white wine and the Mussels and Baby Clam with sausage appetizer. It was incredible...With the hot crusty bread it was just heavenly. We had lots of bread to dip into the broth once we finished off the shellfish. At that point I was not not ready for the entree I ordered. It was a bad choice on my part. The two broths or sauces did not meld. However ,my husband loved his pork chop. But then we has the dessert. Bread Pudding and it was spectacular. Just enough for small bites for two people. I will come again hoping to have that appetizer with a nice salad for my meal. Wonderful evening."

  • "Everything was excellent ...however, the meats were all rare to medium rare & I eat only well done meats and I do not eat Turkey. The only slice of the Pork Roast that I could eat was dry. The Crab legs looked delicious but I am allergic to crabs & shrimps. Chicken would have been a good alternate. My husband thoroughly enjoyed the food...he has no food issues. The Pasta station was awesome & the Omelet station & Desserts were superb. All in all a wonderful meal & we decided to make this place our tradition for Christmas meal"

  • "We had an early reservation. Only a few guests there when we arrived. Service was slow. But the food was worth the wait. Not one of those chain store generic meals. Really tasty, interesting pasta."

  • "Despite its somewhat silly name, Paparrazzi boasts the freshest meats, vegetables and pasta in North Raleigh. My dining partner and first feasted on their delicious antipasti and an unexpectedly large side of green beans sauteed with whole cloves of garlic and walnuts in extra-virgin olive oil ("evo" on their menu). For our main courses, we chose two specials, the duck pappardelle and the wagyu beef pinwheels, both of which bursted with a wonderful mélange of flavors. The atmosphere was chic, romantic and festive, and with all the above, how could we not highly recommend Paparazzi?"

  • "After going to the Paparazzi multiple times (more than 4) for dinner, I am convinced this restaurant is "at the top of my choices" for a number of reasons, but primarily for quality of food, service and value. I've tried various menu items and in every case I am pleasantly surprised and very satisfied with the taste, selection, size of portion and presentation. Our waiter Ryan assisted by several others made our recent visit very special and most enjoyable. He along with other servers that have waited our table are very knowledgeable with both the entrees and wine list, making each of our visits most enjoyable. In each of our visits, every staff member strived to make made us feel welcome and were anxious to meet our every need."

  • "Went with friends and had a great Italian meal which is saying something since my wife and I are both Italian. Also the noise level was such that our party of four could carry on a conversation without having to shout yet, the restaurant was vibrant and active. The owner checked on our table several times and was quite attentive to service. We will definitely return."

  • "Fettuccine was sticky and the string beans were way over cooked, eggplant appetizer was perfect and stuffed peppers were good. Out wait or was super nice and attentive as well as the manager. We were able to enjoy the ambiance and talk, we had a good time and would go back."

  • "This was our first visit to this restaurant and it was wonderful! We have been searching for a GREAT Italian restaurant since moving here 2 years ago. This, we decided, will be our go-to restaurant for italian food. We even tried the pizza as an appetizer and it was perfect, not oily, thin crust, cooked just right! The bolagnese sauce was the real deal!!!"

  • "Our favorite Italian restaurant of 17 years closed last year. After trying many non-chain local restaurants, our family agrees this is our new favorite! Excellent food and staff. Only drawback is that you will smell like the wood burning pizza oven for the rest of the night. We like to eat outside when the weather permits."
    Dined on 11/15/2013
  • "When we walked in the door, the smell of smoke was so overpowering we almost turned around and left. Having a wood fired oven is a nice gimmick, but if it doesn't vent properly it's a disaster. You could see the smoke in the lights. It did clear a bit by the time dinner was done. Service was good, but the food was so-so. The bread was stale and the butter cold and hard. The entrees came quickly and were ok, but nothing special. All the sides are priced separately. It's an attractive restaurant, but the food isn't good enough to endure the forest fire ambiance."
