Diner Reviews
  • "I've always loved Papa Razzi but I hadn't ever been to this location. Great spot!"

  • "I came here to treat my girlfriend out to a nice dinner. Prices seemed fair for what was being served and certainly can get to be expensive depending on what you get, just don't drink a lot or you'll be looking at a $200+ bill. I ordered Lobster tortellini which was much better than I expected. The dish's seem to be well proportioned so you wont leave over stuffed but certainly full. We went on a Friday evening around 6:30pm and were out by 7:45 which brings me to my next point. The service was FAST, possibly a little too fast but okay none the less. They looked understaffed but our waitress was still a stones throw away and continually checked with us. Great place to eat when you're feeling semi fancy and want good food that's not a chain."

  • "Excellent place for dinner! Even though we show up 30min earlier then our reservation, we were immediately given a table. Our server was really nice and accommodating. It was my first time and I'm coming back for sure!"

  • "This is our go to restaurant when visiting Boston! Always a great meal! Staff is friendly and knowledgable, the specials are delicious."

  • "I've been going to Papa Razzi for years and it is always consistent, flavorful, affordable (compared to many other Back Bay restaurants) and I always seem to get a nice table (that part could be luck, or possibly even related to OpenTable.). Their Chicken Parm is the best I've ever had and the people I've taken have really enjoyed their meals. (The piece of salmon was quite big). Making a reservation through OpenTable could not be easier. My only disappointment is they closed the one in Chestnut Hill."

  • "Calamari was the best, ever! Service: Jordan made us feel welcomed and very comfortable. Staff was engaging but not hovering. I look forward to bring friends the next time we are in town, maybe even a special trip just for dinner. Salmon was heaven."

  • "We had a lovely dinner at Papa Razzi. The service however was very bad! Although the restaurant was not very crowded at all the waitress could not wait to get us out of there. She was rude, got our plates from the table while we were still eating and brought the check without being asked for this. We were going to order coffee but the check was already on our table. Fortunately the food was oke so I will recomend this restaurant but hopefully the waitress will be fired soon!"

  • "Great food and great service. Been multiple times and will continue going back."

  • "Before even beginning to share the specials, the waiter asked for any dietary restrictions. Such a simple question to ask, but it made us feel very comfortable that the restaurant would be accommodating. The food came out and the gnocchi was simply incredible. The Quattro Formaggio pizza had an overwhelming amount of garlic, but the kitchen was more than willing to take it back and remake it. All in all great food and even better service."

  • "We had simple pizza and risotto and the food was fair at best. No excuse for that and I won't recommend it."

  • "Papa Razzi somehow seems to be able to maintain a casual yet upscale feel without the outrageous pricing that seems to be the norm in the Back Bay area. Décor was very comfortable, quality and quantity of the food was very good and the service was outstanding. The waiter was knowledgeable and patient with the 5 of us and we saw a team working to get things done. Very satisfying experience and a place we will continue to go to when in the City."

  • "Lobster tortelloni is superb here. This was our third time at Papa Razzi, a restaurant we visit every time we're in Boston. Well-situated in Back Bay smack in the middle of excellent shopping, it's a great place for lunch or dinner. The vibe is energetic on weekends, so if you're looking for intimacy, choose a less busy time. The decor is lovely, and there are nice wines by the glass. There's something here for pasta lover who's after a special meal."

  • "Went to the restaurant with a good friend to celebrate her birthday. Were pleasantly surprised that the food stood up to the hype. Really good pasta. The thin crust pizza was good too. Was a little too noisy in my personal opinion."

  • "The experience was average and with so many great restaurants near by, average is not good enough. We had to wait 10 minutes for our reserved table time. They did not bring us our bread, our waitor was not knowlegeable and I had to prompt him for the specials. They brought us a 2010 vintage on a wine where we ordered a 2008. They did, however, take 10 dollars off the price. For the rest, the food was good and the atmosphere generally energetic."

  • "I enjoyed a very nice lunch at Papa Razzi with 5 co-workers. This was our second group lunch and we will go back for a third. The service is friendly, the food is fresh and serving size is plentiful. I don't think you can go wrong with Papa Razzi."

  • "Went for Valentine's dinner. Tables were you cramped, you could hardly move or hear in the restaurant. Actually, as I was trying to take my seat a bottle of sparkling water was brushed off the table next to me because there was no room and my jacket hit it and it fell. They served bread. Was like a long thin stale breadsticky thing. Gross. I ordered the asparagus and tomato with chicken penne in cream sauce. The tomatoes were raw, and the asparagus was undercooked. Sent back to kitchen and ordered the chicken parm, too flat and dry for ny likeing. Sauce was nice thou."

  • "Papa Razzi offers the best Italian cuisine in my opinion in Boston! Not only is the food delicious, but the ambiance and service is not to be overlooked! The wine list is huge and the prices for their meals are VERY reasonable for the portions and quality of food. I will definitely be back here again!"

  • "Food was ok - potatoes undercooked spoke to our excellent waiter who changed them immediately - unfortunately for over cooked ones. Having said that the beef tenderloins were delicious"

  • "I went there specifically for whole wheat pasta, which they ran out of. How does that happen on a Wedesday? The pasta I did get with sausage and mushrooms was ok. Def not worthe money. Friend got lobster ravioli that she said was ok. There are many better italian options in the City."

  • "The service and the managers are do bad it's just crazy. The worst food service I have ever got in a night out. We go to the Wellesley one all the time and it's so great!!"

  • "The service was typical, the food was pretty good. The pizzas and salads beat out the main entree dishes like the chicken picatta which was very very lemony- but still delish. The warm fruit with cinnamon and vanilla ice cream was life changing"

  • "All four of our entrees were terrible. Even the 13 year old didn't like the pizza! It was supposed to be a special dinner and the whole experience was a disappointment."

  • "Pappa Razzi on Newbury Street in Boston was a lovely restaurant to dine on New Year's Eve. It turned out to be a perfect choice for my husband and I, especially that we stayed at the Fairmont Copley Plaza that was a very short walk away. The decor, staff, and ambience was impressive. Our waitress was so nice and very accommodating. She even changed my order when it was my fault I ordered the wrong veal than I had in mind. When the meal came my husband and I couldn't believe how large the portions were. Because we were only staying overnight, we couldn't take any home. I would have loved to. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone. I know we will come again on our next Boston visit."

  • "We dine often at Papa Razzi but found the food and the service to be especially good on our most recent visit. We were there for New Year's Eve and although it is an extremely busy night for all restaurants, we found the staff to be very attentive and the food was the best we've had there! Jen was our server and she was extremely personable but very, very professional. We were thrilled that we chose to celebrate at Papa Razzi!"

  • "Went for brunch on Sunday. It was an odd + not particularly savory experience. The menu is a mix of take offs on American brunch + some supposedly Italian options. None of the dishes we chose worked particularly well. My two daughters ordered off of the regular menu + did OK, though not great. Those of us who ordered from the brunch menu were unanimously disappointed. Smoked salmon platter is served with 2 crostini + lots of salmon - No cheese or butter. Ended up eating salmon on salty focaccia - just doesn't come together nicely. Steak and eggs had a welll-done steak even though the request was for rare. Ran out of milk so no milk in our tea or coffee. We were told that sous chef was going out to get milk but it never came."

  • "Went there for dinner with a friend The waiter showed up after waiting for s while We placed our order Ordered sparkling water and came out room temperature Mos of the staff was like leave alone at 9 PM The appetizer was ok, but we needed to request for the plate My main course came out wrong, as a consequence we ended up eating at different times Nobody took care of the plates that we used for the appetizer The dining room had guests only, waiters were hard to see or find The manager gave me an apology and a discount This place used to be great. Based in my most recent experiences is going down with lack of management."

  • "Myself and a friend both ordered the penne con pollo. I'm not sure if I'm just not familiar enough with Italian food, but it was very bland. It did say white wine sauce so maybe it was supposed to be that way. My other friends ordered the buccatini and spinach ravioli, and they each said their dishes were "decent." Food was overall alright but I could definitely find better tasting pasta for cheaper. The interior is pretty nice though. There were many families there on Thursday at 7pm."

  • "Rather than taking the approach where restaurants try to appear more sophisticated by having the staff treat customers with a blasé and cold attitude or overpricing the menu, Papa Razzi embraces the opposite. Although located on Boston's notoriously high class street, Newbury Street, Papa Razzi is anything but stuffy. The environment is lively and the staff: the waiters, waitresses, and hostesses are not only friendly, but unlike my experiences at many other establishments, I felt as though every person with whom I came into contact treated me as if I were the only person in the restaurant. Papa Razzi's menu operates in the same way- every order can be customized for each individual patron yet it is still moderately priced."

  • "I had been going to Papa Razzi for years (when it was on Dartmouth at Newbury, not on Newbury, near Dartmouth) and could always count on a great meal at an affordable price. Very consistent. A friend from out of state and I go each year around the holidays and it's become a tradition and the food is always decent. I was worried how the table would be on a cold, busy December night, but we got a great corner half booth type table on the lower level and it was quiet enough to easily talk. We'll continue to go as long as they stay open. (I was saddened to see the Chestnut Hill one closed)."

  • "Though they have expanded, the Papa Razzi, they have remained consistent...like an old friend. Sadly, our waitress seemed to have just started as a waitress. We had to ask for water, she never asked if we wanted another drink and basically disappered . She choose not to write down our order, after taking my order then my husbands, she had to ask me again what I ordered. Thankfully, the right things showed up. Often, I would see her standing on the far side of the room."

  • "Overall a good experience. They didn't hesitate to make a special order of brushetta which was not on the menu. It was delicious. The meal itself was good but not as good as a prior visit. The service was very good. The only unfortunate incident was an unhappy child acting up which was distracting."
