A word from Paolo's Italian Restaurant
For more than 20 years, Paolo’s has been bringing the taste of Italy to Kent. Paul Raftis founded the restaurant after growing up learning to cook along side his mother, Darlene Raftis. He enjoys the open kitchen he can chat with guests as he works. He never tires of hearing "It smells so good in here!" As a marathoner, he is living proof that that you can eat Italian and be healthy. In fact, one of his signature dishes, "Fettucine Paolo" was featured in Runner's World magazine. "It's one of the dishes I developed, it has no cream in it, no butter." It's a delicious pasta dish that utilizes olive oil, garlic, chicken stock, garlic, balsamic vinegar, sundried tomatoes, artichokes, and chicken. So whether it's bruschetta, cioppino, pizza, or spaghetti and meatballs, Paul thanks each of you for choosing to dine here.Continued

  • "We decided to try this place on a whim because it's close to home. We are picky about Italian food, and were pleasantly surprised. :)"

  • "I will go back. Food was very good, portions were perfect and price was very well matched to value."

  • "Took my husband there to celebrate the end of a bitter/sweet week. The wonderful food and great service made our restaurant choice one to remember. We will definitely be back - and SOON. Maybe this time we will even introduce some friends to this fabulous place."

  • "I love this place.. The food is always excellent. My favorite Italian restaurant in the entire area. Would recommend it to everyone who enjoys authentic Italian food."

  • "This was not our first visit to Paolo's. Although it's not close to our house, we enjoy going there whenever we can. We have family who live close by, and they introduced us to this restaurant. My husband and I, as well as my sister and brother in law, all have our own favorite dishes. The prices are reasonable and they also offer a good dining deal for those who are there before 5:30. It's worth looking out for. We know we will always have good food at Paolo's and very good service."

  • "Tucked into a strip mall type space that doesn't do justice to the food, Paolo's offers a wonderful selection of Italian dishes. The ingredients are fresh. Items are homemade (like the out of this world Creamy Gorgonzola salad dressing). Service is attentive and the food comes quickly but is nicely paced so you can enjoy a bottle of wine. The atmosphere is casual and since ti's a smallish space it gets fairly noisy. Parking is a breeze. Love this place!"

  • "We had a wonderful experience. Truthfully it was our 3 or 4th visit. Never disappointed! We were going this time to try the lasagna for an upcoming event. It was excellent!"

  • "Had a wonderful dinner we all ordered off the 4 course $20.99 menu. The food was as great as always. This truly is the best restaurant in Kent."

  • "We were surprised that they did not have a table reserved for us and we had to wait until they could find and set up a table. Then we sat for over 20 minutes before any waiter came to our table, he apologized and left us for 10 more minutes. They were not that busy. I was very disappointed, as this is a favorite restaurant of mine and had out of town guests visiting."

  • "A special Valentine's menu at our favorite restaurant with a live violinist sounded great, but in reality, it was difficult evening. First off - the food was fantastic! Exactly what we always expect at Paolo's - fresh, perfectly prepared, melt in your mouth deliciousness. However, it felt as if the restaurant was not ready for the full house this menu and holiday brought. We arrived 10 minutes before our reservation, joined 6 others waiting in the lobby area with no hostess in sight. We waited 20 minutes with only a single brief appearance by the hostess during the wait. We were seated 2 tables away from a VERY loud violinist. I had to beg my wife to stay, but she had a headache by the end of the meal. Paolo - skip the music next time!"

  • "We have been there before for dinner. Just not on a special night like Valentines Day. It was just as good if not better. We got in right away without having to wait and that is hard to do on Valentine's day. They had a special menu for the occasion that had something for everyone on it. I am a pickey eater and found many options on the menu I would enjoy. Overall it was a great experience and would recommend to everyone"

  • "We eat at Paolo's on special occasions (love the special menus) and whenever we want to treat ourselves. Last week was the wife's birthday, and this week was Valentine's Day. Sometimes I make up an excuse (because it does cost more than your friendly neighborhood Mexican restaurant). I have never failed to enjoy the food here. When they get busy, the service is sometimes slow, but it's always cheerful anyway, and I leave satisfied. These last two times, I also left with half the entree, to enjoy again, because it was too much to finish at one seating. Paolo's is our favorite restaurant."

  • "The special Valentines day menu was a nice surprise when we arrived. Everything from a glass of sparkling wine, delicious appetizer plate, salad or soup, entree and dessert was included for $40 or less! Paul always makes great food and this was no exception. If there was one thing to complain about it was that the volume from the violin player made it difficult to carry on a conversation. I would gladly put up with it again for the excellent food! Thank you Paul and team!"

  • "We go to Paolo's several times a year now, because the food is so good. Paul's cioppino is the best anywhere. My wife loves the lamb chops in wine sauce, usually offered only on special occasions, or gorgonzola steak. This was her birthday, and we arrived before 5:30, so we qualified for the special menu, which is four courses for about $20 each. Instead of the usual we went with the special menu and got meatballs on spaghetti for her and lasagna for me. We like those dishes anyway, but had never ordered them at Paolo's because they seem available anywhere. Well, we were very pleased, and took half the entree home to enjoy again, because there was so much of it. Like Wolfgang Puck does for soups, Paul puts extra goodness into his recipes."

  • "Chose Paolo's based on Open Table reviews. Food was well prepared and very good. Service was adequate but not up to what I would have expected. Requests for bread took longer than should have and had to ask for extra table ware as there were no spoons on the table and non were offered. Overall a good place to go."

  • "It is hard to find a restaurant in Kent that has big-city quality and this has it. Authentic Italian food. Restaurant was jam-packed, but service was good."

  • "My husband and I made reservations for New Year's Eve dinner at Paolo's - it is quite some time since we visited . We had the set meal with entree - my husband's Tuscan Steak was cooked just as he liked it and also the vegetables. My stuffed chicken breast was delicious - the flavors blended together so well and we both enjoyed the inclusion of beets with the vegetables. When it came to dessert I chose the lemon cheesecake which was one of the best I have ever eaten. The server was excellent and overall this was a very successful evening. Thank you to all concerned."

  • "Hate to let the word out !!...Paolos is a great Italian restaurant and more. It was New Year's Eve - offered main menu and a fixed party menu. I have always picked an Italian dish to order - but the special night menu offered a prime ribeye steak, and it was wonderful ! It is one of those places, everything is excellent and you find yourself nearly licking your bowl (i tried to be discrete and used the table bread for just a few more bites of the lovely flavors). Go there for authentic Italian food, take your loved ones there, take your lover - they too will love this place."

  • "The food, ambience, and service were excellent. Our group of 10 was situated comfortably, and we had a wonderful dining experience. Everyone in the group expressed their satisfaction with the experience. This restaurant is an excellent choice for a special occasion or to meet friends for dinner."

  • "My wife and I went to Paolo's on the advice of friends. we've driven by it for years, and never stopped in . we had heard that there wasn't anything wrong with the food, but that it wasn't special either. we are very happy we took his advice and ate at Paolo's. the food was wonderful! The service while friendly was a bit slow. But did I mention that the food was wonderful? It was! the prices are reasonable, and we had a great night out. The highlight of my meal was the Lemon Cheesecake !!! I find myself wanting to go back just for that."

  • "I moved back to this area after quite a few years away. Took my friend to a birthday lunch hoping it was the small jewel it was when I left. I must say the food is wonderful and rich. The tiramisu has changed, but is still the top one in Seattle. Lovely time with good wine and conversation."

  • "My husband likes the cioppino at Paolo's. I do as well but I thought I'd try the seasonal squash ravioli. It was very tasty but unfortunately the dish is very "heavy." Cheese and cream over ravioli is not something I digested well. It may be good for those used to that type of food. I would like to see the dishes served with an alternative sauce for those that do not enjoy heavy meals. I'm sure the chef has some great alternate sauces to offer."

  • "That was our second time in the restaurant. First time we felt in love with Italian food and service. This time - my sister found a piece of steel wire wool scrub in a soup. We told our waitress about it. She gave my sister free desert but still charged for unfinished soup. sorry, but we are not going back to this restaurant."

  • "The staff are nice but seriously slow service, my scallop and crab pasta was good except for the fact that it had canned crab meat, not good. My husbands veal marsala was good but helping was a bit small. The seats are hard."

  • "Wonderful Food - especially the Chicken with Red Grapes in Champagne sauce - it is fabulous - if it's not on the menu - ask for it - the chef will make it for you - Great pizzas and great desserts -"

  • "The Kent/Renton East Hill area is a wasteland for good restaurants, but Paolo's is one of the bright spots. A group of us have lunch there once or twice a month. Try the calzone, fettucine Paolo, or anything with the gorgonzola sauce. Lupita is our favorite server."

  • "We had a large group (16) for dinner, a special occasion to start off a weekend with the new candidate for pastor of our church and his family. Our table was ready for us, and Yon, our server, was very friendly and responsive. Food was great, and the atmosphere was perfect. This is our favorite restaurant in Kent, and we were excited to share it with our friends. Thank you!"

  • "We flew to Seattle from Scottsdale AZ, just to enjoy Paolo's fabulous Pumpkin Ravioli. This little restaurant in Kent is wonderful. Atmosphere is charming. Staff is great and personable. The food is amazing. Loved the corn chowder too! We are making the "Pumpkin Ravioli" run an annual event!"

  • "This local Italian gem makes everything from scratch. The veal Marsala is flavored to "write home about". The fillet Gorgonzola is worth getting into a cold car and driving through pouring rain for. When we see the owner "Paul" in his chef hat we know we are in for a gastronomical treat. If I could improve anything it would be to upgrade the bread to something rustic and delicious."
