  • We've always enjoyed the food

We've always enjoyed the food here in the past but because of it's distant location, it's been a long time since our last visit. On this visit we were disappointed. My wife and I both ordered different veal dishes and we found that the veal was not tender. I ordered a stuffed breaded veal chop with an anchovy sauce. It would have been a great dish if the veal was tender. With two dinners, two glasses of house wine, two sodas, two coffees, and a shared desert, the bill came to $93 without tip. It should be noted that there was an upcharge for blue cheese dressing on my salad and I was charged for my second soda. Free refills are standard in this area.

I really enjoyed the food, however for the price ánd the type of resturant the bar was very load. I couldn't have a conversation with my husband. The waiter was good in the begining of the meal, he did get pre occupied with another table, we had to ask for the rest of our to go food, he only brought out our desert. The was a bit of a wait in between thwarting waiter bringing food And follow up.

Service was great, but the food was a total disappointment. The calamari appetizer was as tough as it gets and covered in marinara sauce. Supposed to be tossed with hot peppers. Risotto was over cooked and not very tasty. Lobster on the chicken in one dish was very fishy tasting. We were warned by the waitress to avoid the steaks since they are never cooked right. Its an italian steak house! On the good side, the waitress was good and and portions were gigantic.

Overall a good experience. Realizing that a holiday like NYE can be tough, there was no limited menu which is rare. The only thing we found was that when we asked for things a little spicy (we chose medium spice each time) it was over the top hot! Other than that the food was a B+ and the water Aaron was very attentive.

We have been there before, many times, for many years, but with a group. This was the first my wife and I have been there alone. We were seated promptly, the food was probably ok, but we were seated right in the middle of the room. It was almost like they added the table there just to get more seating. we figured we would give it a try anyway....well....Every time one of the waiters walked by, they bumped our table. I mentioned it to one of the waitress walking by, and she said, "yes, its because your right in the traffic lane. just make sure your foot isn't sticking out so you don't trip someone"....although funny, and it DID cross my mind, but Thats not what I wanted to hear.

My family & I enjoy Paolo Lombardi's very much. We wish we could come more often but live a distance away. We make it a once a year special dinner for birthdays and special occasions. We are never disappointed with our meals or service. We will always come back at least once a year but more often if possible.

    OpenTable Diner Since 2008
    Dined on 10/17/2012
On business from NJ. Lombardi's came highly recommended, but the food was very average, which is sad because the cuts of meat (beef, veal, and assorted seafood) were very good and very generous, the pasta was fresh and perfect, and the risotto was well done. If you like home cooking, then this is your place. Everything about the preparation said, "You can make it like this at home." If you are looking forward to recipes that truly enhance the flavor of food in complementary layers, expertly combine varying textures, and appeal to your senses, not just your hunger, then you'll have to drive past this place.

It was my second time there. After the first time, I knew I wanted to go back since the food was wonderful. However, I ordered the ALL Del Mare, which was supposed to include crab, scallops, and shrimp, but the crab was nowhere to be found. My date ordered eggplant picatta, and ended up with some sort of eggplant roll-up. While the food was very good, it was disconcerting to get 2 incorrect meals. I would pretty much place the blame on what appeared to be a very inexperienced waitress. Despite the errors, I would give it one more chance since the food is that good.

Even though there was a great deal of activity downstairs due to the owner's daughter's first communion celebration, we had a pleasant dining experience while seated at an upstairs table. The wait staff was very courteous and professional and the food was very good. Our calimari was fresh and tender. The snapper was flavorful and the steak was tender and cooked perfectly, but we would have preferred a little more marbeling in the steak. The cheesecake was nice and light unlike the heavy brick cheesecakes of other restaurants. We have dined at Paolo Lombardi's many times and plan to return again.

Our dinner took far too long to get to us. With appetizers, salad, entree and dessert we were in the restaurant for over 2 hours. We were also seated right next to the area where waitstaff set their trays down to deliver food to all of the tables so they ambiance wasn't great. Otherwise, our waitress was very friendly and the food tasted fantastic.

The food just wasn't very good: the pasta accompaniments were terrible (obviously not cooked with salt) and overcooked; the shrimp were rubbery (overcooked), the marsala was drowned in brown sauce. The server was overbusy, trying to serve restaurant tables and a party (of ~60?) at the same time.

This was my first visit to Paolo Lombardi's The decor is nice but a little bit dated. The service was great. Our waiter was prompt, polite and knowledgeable. Two of us ordered from the special Travers menu, which was a good value. The appetizers were really good and I had high expectations for the rest of the meal. The salads wasn't anything special, just OK. The main courses were generous portions and seasoned well. My only complaint was that both of the meat dishes we ordered were tough. It was unfortunate since they tasted good and this could have been an excellent dinner. I will probably try this place again, but not before trying some other restaurants in the area.

The wait staff is poised, attentive and highly dedicated to customer satisfaction. They pay attention to the little things that may you feel valued and pampered. The food is high quality, excellently prepared and the presentation is quite impressive. The menu has a wide range of options for any taste preference. I highly recommend it.

Always love going here. I didn't check "Kid friendly" only because it's not like they have "kid selections," however, we take our 12 year old there because he likes all types of foods. Totally appropriate to take a 10+ year old there as long as they will eat the food selection. Over all BEST place to eat in the capital area.

Great staff and fantastic food. The mood is always romantic and the perfect place for a night out. There will be many reviews with praise for this restaurant, and the praise is well deserved. That being said, I recently visited for Valentines Day and had two very minor concerns. First, OpenTable had it listed that the full menu would be offered, when the actual menu was special. It may be worth calling to confirm as this. Also, to accommodate more couples, some of the positioning was off. I myself had my back to their large windowed areas and staring at a wall under the balcony. This did however give me plenty of time to gaze at my sweetheart over candlelight.

The Calimari was amazing.. the Caesar salad was "eh".. the Veal Oscar dinner special was AWFUL.. the Hollandase looked like yellow silly string, the veal was gray.. The demiglaze was good, but didnt make up for the rest.. I dont send back if the meal isn't good.. I just dont come back.. The place could really use a good cleaning.. I wont be back.. oh well..

Came in for Valentine's wknd. Spent $100+ for an awful experience. Had a reservation but waited 30+ min to be seated. My husband's seat was in the doorway so each time the door opened he got a freezing cold breeze. Server brought water but didn't ask us if we wanted drinks until he returned 30 min. later. It was at least another 20 min before the drinks arrived. We waited about 2 hrs for dinner. My husband's pasta was not drained & was in marinara flavored water. It looked like calamari & pasta soup. He spoke the mgr & to sent it back, asking for a different dish to go. I had to inquire an hour later as where our food was as we had already been there well over 3 hrs, were beyond ready leave. Horrendous! 1st & last visit!
