Diner Reviews
  • "We came here during the dine - LA week. As always it was good eating. I started with the calamari fritti, which was well - prepared. The sauce was a spicy marinara which was pretty ordinary but good. A nice sweet & sour sauce would have probably been better but you would find that more at an Asian fusion restaurant but it was still good. The main course W's an expertly prepared striped bass with charred skin that was delicious as we're the garlic mas potatoes & the grilled zucchini. The dessert a pana cotta garnished with strawberries were equally delicious. The ambience was beautiful but quite noisy & the tables, as usual were too close to each other but expected in LA. All in all, a great dining experience. I would definitely go again!"

  • "The Panzanella salad with tomatoes and bread is always good, the spaghetti wrapped in eggplant is amazing, and the fish special was mediocre."

  • "Aside from the noise factor, food was great. Sat between to parties of 4 who spoke loudly -- did not use inside voices."

  • "Love the food at this establishment. Good service, never tire of this place. Service was a little slow, busy night, but still excellent.\ Great for dinner with friends."

  • "I was expecting a bit more flavor from the dishes. They were rather bland - the pasta was something I could have made at home... nothing special. I was disappointed - most probably won't dine there again."

  • "My boyfriend and I ate here and ordered from the restaurant week menu, which had a few great options and was very filling! Most of the food was excellent, although the Caesar salad appetizer was nothing to brag about. We had a great time and had FANTASTIC service. However, it was very noisy in the main room even only half full on a Wednesday night. Would definitely return though!"

  • "This is where we go for special nights out away from the kids. Always great service and recommendations from the server...amd I always love trying the specials of the day. I have never had a bad meal, and their wine pairing recommendations have always been spot on. End your meal with one of their desserts, with a nice Frangelico after dinner cordial drink. You're welcome. :-)"

  • "On a whim, I booked a table for my wife and I at our favorite place. We were craving the mushroom risotto and tricolore salad. We arrived at the reservation time of 7:30, were greated warmly by Massimo and Magda, and were seated promptly. Our server was Melissa, whom we have had before. The evening was perfect and the mushroom risotto and tricolore salads were as expected. We will be back again and again."

  • "There aren't that many truly authentic Italuan restaurants in L. A......aside from the Drago brothers restaurants. We love their Downtown, Beverly Hills and other locations.....but now we found another one of their restaurants in Sherman Oaks, here in the Valley. Same terrific food as the others...but much closer to home. Great service, as well."

  • "Needed a nice place to eat in Sherman Oaks, but am not a local resident. I chose Panzanella bc of good experiences with its sister restaurant in Bev Hills, Il Pastaio. The food was good, the room was a bit stuff and quite loud... but overall a safe choice for good food and nice decor in the Valley."

  • "As always Panzanella has the best authentic Italian cuisine in town. The food is only topped by the classic service."

  • "Elegance, great food and great service. This charming restaurant has it all. For a red wine to complement your entree, try the 19 Rows Syrah."

  • "The food was outstanding! There were four of us, and we tasted each one another's selections, and they were all hits. Our server could have been more friendly and warm. She saw that we would be talking and getting caught up, and she'd keep coming up and asking us if we had made selections, when clearly we hadn't touched our menus. She spilled some of my drink on my menu and made it seem like it was part of her service! Even so, her behavior does not take away from the food. "

  • "The food is exquisite! The Panzanella traditional salad surprised us with the most delicious tomatoes, cucumbers on bread soaked in their secret olive oil/balsamic dressing. They make their own pasta and I got something not on the menu, but served with a smile. Where else can you get a whole truffle shaved onto creamed linguini?? Or tasty checca for the vegetarians.Being a birthday dinner, we topped off with a molten chocolate souffle and cappucino. The service was superb, friendly and prompt! Everyone conversed with us, kept a watchful eye for our possible desires, and never rushed us through any part of the meal. This made us feel special and welcomed! "

Had stomach problems the next day :( rest of the dishes were good. arugula salad for $16.95 wasnt good either we ordered buratta appetizer and calamari, arugula salad with artichoke, and gnocchi. The appetizers and gnocchi were good."

  • "I had the pleasure of dining at Ristorante Panzanella recently. The food was terrific, well-prepared and beautifully presented. Service was exceptional and the ambience was lovely. We enjoyed a salad with a light and flavorful lemon vinaigrette dressing; a heavenly risotto; exception seafood pasta and chicken marsala. All were well-seasoned, properly cooked and beautifully presented. While the prices are not cheap; as they say, you get what you pay for. I have no hesitation of recommending Panzanella."

  • "Panzanella is much better than when it first open some years ago. We (3 diners) had an excellent dinner. We ordered everything family style and had it in courses. The Arugala salad was quite good and not over dressed. The Pasta course was delicious, as was the Salmon special. The Salmon was cooked just through, but not over cooked. The Blackberry Torte was excellent and the Apple torte was quite good. We had some bar wine by the glass, and a bottle of red. They have very good wines by the glass and a nice selection of both Italian and California wines by the bottle."

  • "We've eaten at this gem of an Italian before and it was amazing first time around. Second time around, the food didn't disappoint, but we had to wait 30 minutes for our table that we had reserved! When we then sat down finally, it still took our waiter five minutes to offer us bread and take our order even though we'd told the lady who seated us we were ready to order straight away. They should allow a little more time between reservations just in case people run over I guess. Having said that, the food was worth the wait so we will definitely be back! "

  • "1st time there - mixed experience. Didn't start well. Walked in the door & stood there for ~3 minutes. The hostess was nowhere to be found. Then, a man w/2 kids came in, walked past me & the hostess finally appeared & just took them. The bartender & another worker saw what happened but no one said anything. I'm finally seated & at the table, by myself for quite some time. Finally, the waiter comes around & asks if I'd like something to drink. Meanwhile, it's now 7:43 and I can't believe everyone is that late, so I call my friend and they're all waiting at the hostess desk saying they don't have my name. Huh? Wrong. No one was terribly friendly. The food was all good but I can find 6 other places w/same food nearby, so not sure I'll return."

  • "We had friends from Australia visiting us and wanted to take them to one of our favorite restaurants so we booked a table for 4 at Panzanella for Saturday night. We arrived early and Magda was able to seat us right away. We got a good recommendation on the wine from our waiter (who's wife happens to be Australian!!) Our guests had a truly enjoyable time because the food was fantastic (as usual) and the waiter took time to talk to them about his experiences in Australia with his wife and they could easily relate. We got a couple of bonuses during the course of the evening courtesy of Massimo and Magda and our waiter. The evening was a big hit and our Australian friends already posted some pics of the evening."

  • "Best Italian restaurant in L.A. Best restaurant in L.A."

  • "Went back a second time and found the food and service to be as excellent as the first time. We I have added this Italian restaurant to our favorites. There are many food choices & specials that make it hard to decide. Most of the pasta is made fresh. The salads with home-made fresh mozzarella are fantastic. The meat Lasagna with béchamel sauce was very delicious (but heavy) and the fresh Pappardelle with beef short rib meat had been cooked for hours (meat not the pasta). The service is your typical kicked-back Italian style but the staff is enjoyable with someone always there for you. A lot of places give you the bums rush so we enjoyed taking our time drinking wine. This place draws a crowd so reservations are probably a good idea."

  • "We had a wonderful dinner as usual on Friday night. Magda is always warm and accommodating and our sserver Enzo was great. It'stl the second time we had Enzo as our server and we will request him from now on when ever we go. The food was delicious as well. I had the Buratta Caprese, which is simply the best, the polenta with the shaved black truffles and the Osso Bucco. All dishes were YUMMY!!"

  • "The food was good. Not memborable and a bit overprice. Could not carry on a conversation due to the noise level. This is a result of hard surfaces and pushing tables too close together. What I am most upset is a $7- valet charge. At the prices of the food - parking should be included."
    Dined on 2/28/2014
  • "Panzanella is a perfect blend of European sophistication and Italian/American warmth. You feel welcome literally the moment the valet takes your keys in the admittedly very narrow driveway outside the entrance. The management and wait-staff are all attentive and friendly without being intrusive and knowledgeable without being the least bit snobbish. The menu, which includes daily specials and ongoing favorites is wide-ranging but not overwhelming and, having dined there a number of times now, we've never had a meal that wasn't delicious. WIne selection is good, as are the whiskies and cognacs ( my own favorites). Prices are quite reasonable for a restaurant at this level. Tables are a little close, but for us it just adds to the fun."

  • "Panzanella is always very good. We've been there on Valentine's Day in the past and found it a little crowded and rushed. This year we were pleasantly surprised to find ourselves seated in an area with enough space and a very attentive waiter. When reserving, I had asked for a less crowded area and my request was honored. Thank you, Panzanella. And, there were many specials in addition to the regular menu --- but the restaurant did not have a mandatory prix fixe menu. Food, service and ambiance were all great on such a busy evening."

  • "Yes it was valentines eve , but no excuse ! The food was as if you were at a hospital cafeteria and waiters constantly bouncing into each other did Not make for a nice dining experience. Sorry just not the Drago family experience."
