Great casual dining spot! Menu is not extensive but there is something for everyone: salads, pasta, steak or chicken, fish and even hamburgers. Short but sweet kids menu too. It's a great place to meet friends, you don't have to get dressed up and you can have confidence the food will be good.

When the two of us arrived, the service was spectacular from the moment we walked in the door. Midway through our meal, however, our server completely abandoned us for a large party. Another server tended to us but very, very poorly. He even forgot to save our leftovers. What started out to be a lovely birthday dinner with promises of a special dessert by our original server, turned into a disappointing experience and we decided to go elsewhere for coffee & dessert because no one at the Pantry even offered it.

We tried this restaurant for the first time with friends - and found it far more delightful and outstanding than we would have expected. The staff was attentive and knowledgeable, had very happy and positive attitudes. The food was exceptional! Prices were on the high side but reasonable. We tried several 'starters' and all were outstanding. Each of our 4 different entrees were also excellent, as was the house wine. We will definitely return to this restaurant often - as well as recommend it to others. A gem in a quaint town and neighborhood.

After reading many good reviews of The Pantry, we decided to take a ride and check it out. We really enjoyed our meal and the service was excellent. The menu offers a big variety of choices and the ambiance is cozy and nice. We started with the Paseo salad and it was really tasty and the golden beets were delicious and unique. We had salmon and chicken and mushroom entrees and both were cooked to perfection. They had a nice selection of wines too. We will definitely be going back again.

Great food for Restaurant Week. My only complaint was that the waiter who sat us was very curt and unfriendly. He didn't greet us, only asked, "Did you two call ahead?" I gave our reservation and he walked us to our table, still with no greeting or small talk. It didn't set the tone for a pleasant evening. Luckily, our waiter was cool and the food was great!

As usual, the service and food were excellent at The Pantry. The wait staff was attentive, but not overly so. Our meals arrived hot and were delicious. The crab cake appetizer was delicious, the filet mignon melted in my mouth, and the blackberry sorbet was the perfect ending to a delicious meal.

The Restaurant looked nice especially outdoor dining. My date meal was good but mine was just too salty. It was quite a loud crowd and it destroyed the romantic atmosphere. The entrance was a bit hard to find so we went through their courtyard in the back.

The Kobe Burgers were WONDERFUL, the pasta/Bolognese was was very bland, over cooked, nothing like you'd get in Italy. I was referred to The Pantry through the Chino Farmswebsite/review, that said the produce came from there, but the person I spoke to on the phone when verifying my Pantry reservation had never heard of Chino Farms which was odd as it is famous in So.Calif..The service was GREAT and I would give it another try.

Our last meal - literally LAST - was very disappointing. From the onset everything was wrong. Two of the staff were having a very audible conversation, that did not belong in the front of the restaurant. It distracted them from taking our order and just showed a lack of interest in or respect for the patrons. The fish of the day was a disaster, twice. By their second attempt, my companion was done with his meal and had lost interest. The fish was inedible anyway. We are not going back.

Everything went excellent, from the tasty Salmon BLT sandwich to the Philly Cheese steak sandwich and no one could stop with just one homemade potato chip. Even the Ice tea was wonderful. I brought a cake for a birthday unknown to the birthday boy and they lit the candles and brought to the table with perfect timing.

Consistent good food and service at a decent price. San Diego and North County has a great many restaurants but most do not seem to get out good dinners day after day. They are really inconstent. Only 5 that I can think of off hand: Trattoria Possitano in Cardiff, Piatti in La Jolla, Pamplemousse Grille in Del Mar, Roppongi in La Jolla and now the Pantry.

Good salad and brownie cookies. Burger was a dry on the edges and overdone. Pork chops were not cooked all the way through and what was cooked was dry. They charged us gratuity for a party of 5 which irritates me because what makes them think I wasn't going to give them a good tip.

This is a great neighborhood restaurant with excellent, healthy food. I usually go for lunch but dinner was fabulous and they split a salad and a main dish (fish) for my friend and me without asking. Both were perfectly arranged on the plates and the beet salad and the fish were perfectly cooked. This is a "just gourmet enough" and the lunch menu is great, too. The people who own it are very kind and the service is top notch. It's our little "secret" up here in Rancho Santa Fe. They have excellent wines you might not think of and good advice, too.

So, we didn't want to stay long. Otherwise, everything else was fine. We will probably come again, hoping that it will be quieter next time.
