Pangaea is a two-tiered restaurant with an eighteen foot high ceiling, situated on Bay Street in the heart of Bloor/Yorkville. Established in 1996, Pangaea can seat 150 guests, and has Private Dining areas that can accommodate
groups of 8 – 150. The eclectic menu has a Canadian sensibility whilst taking ideas from around the world. The service is gracious, thoughtful and unpretentious, and the wine list boasts a balanced profile of over 200 different wines. The restaurant caters both to a business clientele and to
social gatherings.

The attention to presentation and detail was excellent and the food was simply enjoyable. You could not wait to get to the next course.   • "I have dined at Pangaea at multiple occasions in the past year or so and have never had a bad experience. The service, ambiance and food always leave me satisfied and happy. Their roasted Chèvre & Beet Salad is to die for and the Black Cod I had for the main course was so buttery & flaky and served at the perfect temperature, It just melted in my mouth. I highly recommend this place for Lunch as well as Dinner."

  • "If restaurants were only about the food Pangea would be one of the best in the world. But they're not. The overall experience of dining out includes much more than the food. Service at Pangea isn't at all on par with the quality if the food. It looked to us as though they didn't have enough wait staff, so our waiter was extremely rushed. They clearly need someone to provide better training for the front-line, and to think about the little details that matter (like warming the bread basket). The tuna amuse-bouche was a nice, tasty surprise. My east-coast oysters were impeccable, and the best I've ever had, anywhere. Our steaks were done perfectly, and the accompanying items ont the plates were perfect!"

  • "We were there for my birthday during Winterlicious and although the service was extremely friendly we were disappointed by the food especially regarding the portion sizes. We stayed away from the foie gras as we were warned that the portion was tiny but my daughter and her husband took the platter of cheese and only got three slivers. Quite a dispointment when you are French like us! The salad was bland and lacked dressing and seasoning. Some pepper please! The bison was tender and wonderful but the buttersquash puree was barely represented. My children selected the scallops and were unimpressed with the risotto. Over all good service and nice atmosphere but the food was not up to par either in size, balance of the dish or taste. Too bad!"

  • "Last night of "Winterlicious", so busier and thus noisier than normal. Yet service was attentive and friendly; the birthday treatment of dessert surprised and delighted. It was the Winterlicious specially-priced menu that attracted us, but we ordered from the fuller and more interesting standard menu, and were not disappointed. Food was excellent."

  • "We are new to Toronto and so look forward to trying new restaurants as we get to know the city better. Unfortunately this was not a successful new venture for us. The service was shocking. It took a good 40 minutes for our order to be taken. A waiter did come to us about 2 mins after we sat down but when we said we needed another minute disappeared for more like 40 minutes. By which time we were really quite hungry and had very seriously contemplated walking out. If it had not been Valentines (and therefore anticipated most places close by would have been full) we would have left. Unfortunately once we ordered the time it took to be served was still very slow (20-30mins). Food was ok but did not make up for service."

  • "High-end restaurants don't normally last this long in Toronto, but Pangaea seems to have the formula down pat. Quick, courteous service, a sizeable wine list they're more than happy to advise you on, and flawless cooking. If you're a little shy of fine dining, they always do Summerlicious and Winterlicious for a more affordable menu. Nothing I've tasted here, from risotto to beef tenderloin, has been anything short of amazing. The presentation is lovely too. Definitely worth spending a nice night out!"

  • "I love winterlicious and it was my friend's birthday so I said why not Pangaea. When I made a reservation online, I indicated it was my friend's bday and maybe something special for the dessert. When they called to confirm my reservation, I mentioned it again and they said, "no problem". I wasn't expecting a lot, I though "happy birthday" on the plate when she gets her dessert would be nice enough. Well, that did not happen. Plus the food was AWFUL. I won't go back for the food. Small portion and it's barely edible. Ambience is poor. Bad lighting, poor décor, ugly and uncomfy chairs. $35 winterlicious dinner was a waste. It wasn't worth it. A horrible experience."

Cheese plate and coffee that was not hot were really disappointing. This experience was not bad but not really satisfying at the 4-star level in meeting the foodie and special occasion expectations. Should also improve the bread and butter offering - more variety, not just white bread, and more creative butter serving."

  • "party of 4- 3 newbies despite reservations, we had to wait for our table to be cleared, although there were many empty tables. appetizers, delicious likewise, bison. gnocchi were end-of-the-day clumpy and lacking flavour. cheese plate for dessert was a disappointment creme brulee delicious lemon tart was fine i'll go back because i've had some memorable meals, though the misses are starting to accumulate. my friends probably won't return."

  • "I selected this restaurant because I had a delicious meal there last year. Unfortunately, we selected the Winterlicious menu. I felt like the server resented having to serve people who selected the 'cheap menu'. The appetizers were fine, The bison was tough and didn't have much flavour but the combination of the butternut squash, pickled cabbage, blueberry gastrique, and pecans was delicious. For dessert, each of tried tried something different. The creme brule and cheese plate were very good, the lemon tart was OK and the chocolate cake was very dry. The person who ordered the cake said exactly the same thing as another reviewer - Tim Horton's does better. An OK experience. Perhaps we picked the wrong day."

  • "Typical of the "you get what you pay for". This is my second time at the restaurant, my last experience was a lunch with the regular menu. This time it's a Winterlicious lunch. I had the pouched egg and ham for entree, the egg was delicious but I think it's misleading to put "ham" in there, it's like ordering bread but receiving only crumbs of it. Ordered bison for the main course, it was little tough but still AMAZING. Only complaint is that the two small cuts barely qualifies as appetizer. The creme brulee blew me away, I didn't order it last time but I'm glad I did the second time. The sweetness was just right and balanced out the tastes of the main course. Overall, excellent presentation and atmosphere, but portions are really small."

  • "I have never been disappointed with the food, service or ambience at Pangaea. The mushroom soup was a special treat, and I could have eaten a second bowl! It was hard to choose between the main courses on the Winterlicious menu: the only way to resolve the problem is to visit three times - and eace time I have not been disappointed. My favourite, however, is the scallops. Delicious, and just the right portion size."

  • "Servicewise Pangaea has to be the worst ever. Our server has to be asked to provide us with bread and in doing so he rested the whole basket of bread on our table before rudely asking "How many pieces do you want?" Bread was dumped on our side plate and some of them even landed on the table. He did not stop once to ask how we were doing and our water glasses were refilled only once and were left emply for the rest of the evening. Worst of all was he did not even asked if we have finished, but simply reached over from behind our chairs and stacked all the dishes together before taking them away. Are we having dinner in a cafetaria? WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!!!!!!!"

  • "Their Winterlicious menu was outstanding. All prepared wonderfully, not rushed, and a tru facsimilie of their regular menu. The donuts at the end were the crown on the evening. Their is a small intimate and seperate bar. Good idea to go about half an hour before your dinner and have a quiet drink. Its well worth it."

  • "If you are enticing people to come back, don't be so mingy with the entree portions. I had the trout, which I am doubting was trout, but rather a small piece of salmon because of its thickness. Nothing special. The plate looked laughable when put in front of me - it was too big for the amount of food on it. The mushroom soup was starchy and tasteless. The dessert (chocolate cake) was acceptable, however. I have been to your restaurant for dinner and been quite happy with the food, but will not come back for winterlicious."

  • "I went to the restaurant for Winterlicious, and while the service was fine, the food was unfortunately not. I had ordered the bison as my main dish, and it was so tough, that I had an incredibly difficult time trying to cut it with my knife, and an even harder time trying to chew it. I eventually had to spit it out, as did a friend of mine, who had ordered the same thing. The starter (soup) and dessert (lemon bar) were alright, though not great. Overall, my experience was less than subpar, and I definitely won't be going back."

  • "We arrived here half an hour earlier, but there already had been a long queue. All of tables had been reserved. The ambience is quite good, but the wine cups and the dishes looks a little bit not so clean. We ordered a trout, a roasted beef and pork, all of which were so tasty. The only drawback is that the service cannot match the food level, maybe because there were too many patrons. Anyway, we were satisfied and will recommend it to my friends."

  • "Couple years ago, I had lunch at this restaurant. The food were great but the food came out very slow. This year, I went back again. They improved. However, this time the food came too fast.
