Diner Reviews
  • "Great food, Intimate setting, great place for dinner with special friend"

  • "Pamplemousse never disappoints! This is our favorite restaurant in Las Vegas. Fabulous menu and wine list. Great ambiance. Outstanding service. A must stop if your looking for a great dinner in Las Vegas!!"

  • "Small Restaurant. Noisy. Food was very much so so. Steaks were overcooked and they did not seem to care nor were they willing to make it right. The Wine list is terrible. They advertise as a French Restaurant - it is not. just a couple of dishes. They bring a huge basket of vegetables instead of bread to the table which by the way they recycle to other tables. Absolutely would not recommend going to this place. Also not in the best of neighborhoods"

  • "Lovely evening! Great dinner, wonderful service, beautiful ambience!"

  • "For those of you who are special enough to remember, Pamplemousse reflects the ambiance and cuisine you would have encountered at a good French restaurant 40-50 years ago, and maybe earlier. The servers are proper, tuxedoed and very helpful. The ceilings are low, the tables draped with linens, the light a soft glow and the food traditional French and excellent."

  • "Wonderful and romantic. Great addition to the neighborhood!"

  • "A quiet oasis not far from the Strip. The food is classic French. We started with a nice presentation of crudities, followed by fois gras. My wife's duck was excellent and a generous serving. My veal medallions were also tasty and well presented. Our only minor disappointment was the Grand Marnier souffle, which was beautiful, but had no hint of the Grand Marnier. Did they forget to add it? Our server Keefer was very personable and knowledgeable. We'll be back."

  • "Gorgeous decor. Unchanged since early 70s. Loved the experience!!"

  • "It was great to go to a restaurant and not have to ask for the restaurant week menu. It was right there as their special. I enjoyed the duck terrine, pear sorbet with campaign, veal, and chocolate mousse - all for $50.13. Wonderful food and service"

  • "There were four in our party this time and we had an excellent dinner. The experience was a great improvement over my previous review last month where I noted that, while the food was as good as ever, the service was dreadful because of the simultaneous seating of a large party that overwhelmed both the kitchen and the service. Not true this time. The restaurant was pleasantly busy, the service was attentive and timely, and the food was excellent. Notable dishes included appetizers of duck mousse terrine and wild mushrooms in puff pastry. Entrees included braised lamb shank and sauteed veal medallions in cognac cream sauce. All excellent but the real star was the Grand Marnier souffle, with a spoonful of vanilla ice cream in the center.Yum!"

  • "Just as great as my wife remembered when we went there after we got married 27 years ago."

  • "We went to Pamplemousse for Restaurant Week. The service was excellent. We felt as if they appreciated us coming in and that they wanted us to come back again. The food was a little hit or miss. We liked the basket of crudites, the selection of vegetables was fresh and surprisingly extensive. To be honest we only expected some carrots, celery, and tomatoes, but got way more! My escargot appetizer was a little heavy on the garlic, but the feuillete was perfect. But my steak bavette totally made up for it by being cooked perfectly to temp. The veal on the other hand had good flavor, but was a little tough. And if you're going to eat dessert, I suggest the Grand Marnier souffle instead of the creme brulee."

  • "We have dined at Pamplemousse quite a few times, but were excited to experience their Restaurant Week menu. Our expectations were met and then some. Ambiance, as usual, was the best. Service was spectacular, yet unobtrusive. And the food really was divine. My date had veal medallions and I, the mussels. Both perfectly cooked. The five course meal was priced right and helped one of our favorite charities. The many choices for courses could please any palate. We thoroughly enjoyed our evening and cannot wait to go back for more. Old Vegas style rules!"

  • "They easily accommodated our party of 7. This was the first time, and we all would love to go back. Our server was wonderful, funny, nice, and knowledgeable about the menu to help some of us who couldn't decide. A few of us got their 5-course meal and it was extraordinary! Food portions were perfect. Hats off to the chef!"

  • "The first time that I brought friends, they were very impressed. This time I brought a different set of friends. They were also very impressed. Nothing more to say."

  • "This must be one of the few valley buildings that have survived from the '70s and it looks it from the outside but when you enter the door it is transformed to a beautiful formal dining room with tuxedo clad waiters who serve with high style. The food is consistently wonderful at prices a few notches below the casino bistros. Wine is an exceptional value and a do it yourself salad is included with every meal. There is always a price fix option with four courses that makes the already reasonable prices even more affordable."

  • "Get away from the fake glitz and carbon copy hotel/casino restaurants and have a memorable meal in a beautiful room with impeccable service. Pamplemousse is in a one-story adobe cottage at the north end of The Strip. The dining rooms are divided into small cozy areas, with well-spaced tables. The lighting is warm, soft, and golden and the furnishings are comfortable, elegant French Provencal decor. We chose a Grand Cru Saint-Estèphe Bordeaux wine for under $80. Silky smooth and delicious. Our five-course prix fixe menu was $56. Every course was rich, fragrant and flavorful. Service was impeccable. Proprietor George La Forge came to every table to chat, a nice personal touch in an impersonal town."

  • "Pamplemousse is a true Las Vegas gem. Anyone that goes to he big casino steakhouses is missing out and probably spending more money. Years ago ago a world traveller friend brought me here as his favorite restaurant in the world. I agree and have been coming back for a decade, bring my own friends and family here. I've had most items on the menu and continue to be amazed. The lamb shank will be a diss appointment if you choose to order it at ANY OTHER restaurant. Also the the very very good cordon bleu is light and mouthwatering."

  • "They don't make 'em like this anymore. Who knew such a charming throwback was to be found off the Vegas strip? If you're a fan of French food the way it used to be served long ago, do not miss Pamplemousse."

  • "I took my wife there for her Birthday. What a disaster! First of all they sat us near where they were filming for some TV show. The waiters only seemed to pay attention to that table for four. No mention of my wife's Birthday even though we made the reservation with Open Table and told them it was a special event for us. Service was very slow. The only thing I liked was the first thing served which was a basket of fresh vegetables with a terrific vinaigrette - sort of make your own salad. All was down hill after this first course. My wife's escargot was awful instead of the butter they put the snails in a tasteless cream sauce and there was some foreign black items in the dish - my tomato basil soup was also tasteless."

  • "My husband surprised me while we were on a vacation to Vegas. He made reservations at this restaurant because he wanted to get off the strip. It was very romantic, intimate and authentically French! We had a great evening and the service was wonderful."

  • "Pamplemousse is an old school Vegas restaurant and walking in is like walking back in time. Great menu of classic French dishes. We chose the prix fixe 5 course menu and a bottle of wine. I expected old school Vegas service to go along with the menu but, clearly, they were having an off night. The bottle of wine I ordered was out of stock. The waiter completely forgot to serve one of our courses...and when I asked about it, he apologized and brought it after dessert. And they messed up the order on my dessert, bringing the wrong soufflé, and then telling me it would be 25 minutes to make a new one when the rest of the table already had their desserts. I was disappointed because I expected more. What a shame, really -- the food was good."

  • "We had the best French meal / date night in years tonight. Pamplemousse is absolutely excellent, from the service to the fabulous food, French music and Frank Sinatra playing in the background. The foix gras, along with Pierre's suggested glasses of Sauterne were simply to die for. Not a tourist trap, this is the perfect neighborhood "classy" restaurant."

  • "My wife and I were on our first trip to Vegas. We aren't exactly foodies, but love taste! I canceled our steakhouse experience on a whim and chose this after reading the reviews. I need to tell you that my bride of 20 years told her friends the next day that I knocked Valentine's Day out of the park! The food and atmosphere were wonderful! The staff was very attentive yet not annoying. Georges the owner had long stemmed roses for the ladies dining that night. The menu was set that night, but had enough variety that we tried different options by ordering different items and sharing. Was a wonderful experience. Then, when we got home two days later Georges called my wife personally with a thank you! Blew us away! We will be back!"

  • "One of the very best values in Las Vegas for really good French inspired cuisine. Try the lamb shank and the chocolate soufflé and you will come back very often. Be sure to ask for Perry. He is a waiter that is beyond good, he is just plain extraordinary!"

  • "W had a wonderful dining experience here. The staff was excellent - attentive and personable. The food was superb. We had the prix fixe dinner and were not disappointed. The crudite basket was the best intro to dinner ever. Our best dinner in vegas!"

  • "We have had several family special celebrations here and have never had a bad meal, The owner and staff are very personable and the wines are outstanding."

  • "I was very disappointed, Had not been for awhile, three course were all sub par. The way overpriced sea bass finished off the experience. Listening to a busboy swearing in a conversation with a waiter while standing beside our table was the final straw."

  • "When looking at reviews for restaurants in Las Vegas we were very unhappy. Most of the big name restaurants had very low reviews, but finding a place to have Valentines dinner was hard to find. Until we saw the Pamplemousse, the reviews were very high and the prices were very reasonable. After having problems with a cab getting to the location we were a little worried that if the cab drivers didnot know where it was then it could not be that good. WE WERE VERY WRONG. The food was amazing, the service was just as good, and the overall dinner was just what we were looking for. A romantic dinner for 2 in a very hidden gem. We will totally go back on our next trip to Las Vegas."

  • "Downhill since last visit. Crudetes are great. But chef seemed to put the same bland brown sauce on 2 of 3 entrees. Waiter did recommend a good wine moderately priced cabernet.. mike"

  • "What a great evening we had there. Couldn't have asked for anything more romantic and fun. The Maitre' D and waiters were interesting people and all seemed to really enjoy their jobs. The food was out of this world. I had a special of the nite. It was Monkfish! It was perfect and my partner had Wild Boar! That is why my title is FABULOUS!"

  • "Since this restaurant is a block or two off the Strip, many people don't know about it...and that's a darn shame. This is a small French restaurant that treats every customer like a VIP and offers excellent cuisine, to boot. The crudite course starts you off on the right foot with tasty dressing, and it only gets better from there. Both lamb courses were exquisite, and the wine we chose was very affordable, especially in this town. The desserts are excellent, too. We started visiting this restaurant over15 years ago and we will go back every time we visit LV."
