I absolutely loved everything we ate at Pampano. I highly recommend the Callos de hacha (scallops with patatas bravos and crispy serrano ham). The Robalo Placido and the Filete Pampano were also delicious. Don't leave without trying the Tres Leches cake. The sauces that come with it are phenomenal. The staff was extremely friendly. I highly recommend this place.

My wife and I came here after watching The Lion King for our anniversary. It was a quick subway ride from the theatre district. The restaurant is was dimly lit and had a very upscale feel to it. The food was very delicious and the portions were generous. The prices were good for a restaurant with three dollar signs.

When you tire of Tex-Mex and are looking for Mexican food they might eat in a fine restaurant in Mexico City, Pampano should be your destination -- at least if you are in NYC and not Mexico City. I have been here (and in restaurants in Mexico City) numerous times, and Pampano's never disappoints. The food quality is very good and the staff is always attentive. They always have a very good fish selection too.

Not ADA accessible. That's a problem. Once you get up the big staircase, it's lovely. More expensive than it should be. My $14 generic marguerita was so watery, I had asked to replace with better tequila- $5 more. Waiter brought the new drink back to me with 1/3 missing and actually said- that's because you had a sip of the first drink. I was shocked. I won't be back for a long time.

I had guests from Europe who freaquents to Michelline stared restaurants and I wanted them to enjoy the great unique restaurants in NY. Pampano was just right for this occasion. The coastal South American fine cuisines are hard to find in Europe and They were very much impressed by the quality of food.

Maybe we just lucked out-- It was a beautiful fall evening and we dined in their outdoor space-- and the food and all came together to create a lovely evening. I was concerned about the mixed reviews-- but their tres ceviches was terrific, followed by a salad-- both shared. My black bean soup was very bland and my partner reported his lobster tacos were ok. We finished off with churros, which were just so-so-- way too soggy. My martini was perfect. It's an expensive spot that needs to be more consistent. Perhaps Richard Sandoval has lost interest?

Our second trip to Pampano, and it was nearly as great as our first time earlier this year. Service was not quite at the same level as before but the food was still fantastic. Four people shared three plates of tacos and three entrees. Everything cooked to perfection and chased by some of the best sangria I've ever had! Pampano remains one of our favorites in NYC and we will continue to come back :-)

This was strike 2 and there will not be a strike 3. We were shown to our table, sat down and whoa! A huge corporate cocktail party on the outside deck. It was noisy and when the group spilled into the dining room, our planned, nice quiet dinner for two had an audience with people standing uncomfortably close to our table. We rushed through what was served and couldn't get out of there fast enough. We did speak with the manager about this but he offered no apology. We can't fault the food and service as they were both as usual. On another occasion, we had reserved a party of 8 for dinner and last minute we received a call that they had a large group. We have dined here many times, brought many guests over the years. No more.

The ceviche is prominently highlighted on the menu, but the night I had the tuna, there was hardly any tuna in it! I had fried oysters and I was not actually sure there were oysters "in there". If there was a shortage of seafood in NYC that night because it was Labor Day Weekend, then just don't serve the dish.

I went to Pampano with my three summer interns for a farewell to summer brunch. I had a Gilt City voucher which may or may not have played a role in our waiter Geraldo treating us like second class citizens. He was not friendly and not accommodating. Two members of our group do not eat pork not shellfish for religious reasons and he behaved as if accommodating this was putting him out of his way, really? When we mentioned we were not pleased to the manager Victor, who was very nice and friendly, Geraldo then came over and apologized and offered us deserts on the house. I was excited to try Pampano, but after this experience, I would not go back.

Pampano is a lovely restaurant, partly owned by opera star Placido Domingo. We always sit inside, though many people prefer the attractive outdoor terrace, in fine weather. The food is good -- excellent first courses/starters; pretty good mains, though I wish they would update their menu, particularly those fish dishes, which are just so so; delicious desserts. Sorry to report the traditional margaritas taste like fruit juice. There doesn't seem to be any alcohol in them! The music selection is poor (particularly considering that Domingo is part-owner); and too loud.

Service was great, there was always someone around tending tables, making sure glasses were filled with water or sangria! I had the salad but everyone else in my group had cerviche appetizer and loved it. For the entree I had the steak and again everyone else had seafood; we all enjoyed our entrees. We didn't stick to our budget of $38 for restaurant week and ended up ordering the guacamole ($14) and pitcher of sangria ($42). I saw on their website that they have a bottomless brunch which includes unlimited sangria and a few other drinks - so I may try brunch one day. Nice atmosphere, mellow with light chatter and laughter.

Everything about Pampano was great, the service was fast and efficient but always well timed. We had the grilled pineapple mojitos which were to die for. The starter sample of both the guacamole and the swordfish was savory and the tortilla chips were also a pleasant surprise. For the meal I had the Atun grilled tuna with cilantro-ginger pico-de-gallo and it was worth every mouth watering bite. Would highly recommend and will definitely be back.
