This was strike 2 and there will not be a strike 3. We were shown to our table, sat down and whoa! A huge corporate cocktail party on the outside deck. It was noisy and when the group spilled into the dining room, our planned, nice quiet dinner for two had an audience with people standing uncomfortably close to our table. We rushed through what was served and couldn't get out of there fast enough. We did speak with the manager about this but he offered no apology. We can't fault the food and service as they were both as usual. On another occasion, we had reserved a party of 8 for dinner and last minute we received a call that they had a large group. We have dined here many times, brought many guests over the years. No more.

Always a good place for lunch as the food is excellent and you can hear yourself speak. But the service was very slow and we had to continually look for our waiter.

The ceviche is prominently highlighted on the menu, but the night I had the tuna, there was hardly any tuna in it! I had fried oysters and I was not actually sure there were oysters "in there". If there was a shortage of seafood in NYC that night because it was Labor Day Weekend, then just don't serve the dish.

We took new friends who were visiting nyc. All of us were happy with our meals. Everything was cooked perfectly and it was delightful! One table near us was loud (8 folks having a good time!), but that doesn't reflect on the restaurant which is usually a good place to talk.

I went to Pampano with my three summer interns for a farewell to summer brunch. I had a Gilt City voucher which may or may not have played a role in our waiter Geraldo treating us like second class citizens. He was not friendly and not accommodating. Two members of our group do not eat pork not shellfish for religious reasons and he behaved as if accommodating this was putting him out of his way, really? When we mentioned we were not pleased to the manager Victor, who was very nice and friendly, Geraldo then came over and apologized and offered us deserts on the house. I was excited to try Pampano, but after this experience, I would not go back.

Pampano is a lovely restaurant, partly owned by opera star Placido Domingo. We always sit inside, though many people prefer the attractive outdoor terrace, in fine weather. The food is good -- excellent first courses/starters; pretty good mains, though I wish they would update their menu, particularly those fish dishes, which are just so so; delicious desserts. Sorry to report the traditional margaritas taste like fruit juice. There doesn't seem to be any alcohol in them! The music selection is poor (particularly considering that Domingo is part-owner); and too loud.

Service was great, there was always someone around tending tables, making sure glasses were filled with water or sangria! I had the salad but everyone else in my group had cerviche appetizer and loved it. For the entree I had the steak and again everyone else had seafood; we all enjoyed our entrees. We didn't stick to our budget of $38 for restaurant week and ended up ordering the guacamole ($14) and pitcher of sangria ($42). I saw on their website that they have a bottomless brunch which includes unlimited sangria and a few other drinks - so I may try brunch one day. Nice atmosphere, mellow with light chatter and laughter.

Everything about Pampano was great, the service was fast and efficient but always well timed. We had the grilled pineapple mojitos which were to die for. The starter sample of both the guacamole and the swordfish was savory and the tortilla chips were also a pleasant surprise. For the meal I had the Atun grilled tuna with cilantro-ginger pico-de-gallo and it was worth every mouth watering bite. Would highly recommend and will definitely be back.

This place is worth the climb--literally lots of stairs to get to the dining room and its shielded terrace. Lunch can be noisy with exuberant office groups, brunch and dinner are a bit quieter. The kitchen hits all the right notes with many familiar dishes given a slight twist. Notably they have Voctoria lager, which tastes a lot like the long departed Casa Blanca. Service was warmly personal. I don't know that I would go from the West side, but it is very pleasant having Pampano in my neighborhood.

Pompano is a good choice. The ambience in the serene and spacious dining room and outdoor balcony are good for the soul. As to the food, most dishes at the heavy-on-seafood spot are good to excellent: try the spicy guacamole, the shrimp ceviche, and the corn cake with coconut ice cream. The empanadas aren't quite up to snuff.

The food was good, but the temperature of the room was so cold that it was impossible to enjoy. I saw some women guests using napkins to cover their bare shoulders. We had sweaters, but it was still too cold and uncomfortable. The service was good, but it took a long time to get the check.

I’m a small size lady, after a three course meal at Restaurant week in the summer of 2014, I still feel extremely hungry. Not only me, everybody in our dinning group of six are not filled after the meal. They don’t give you bread to come with meal. They are probably trying to sell the Taco with Guacamole for an extra. But why pay extra while there’re plenty places in town where you can have a decent meal which can satisfying both taste buds and your stomach. Never here again!

Came in for a restaurant week menu with my hubby. Guacomole and margaritas were outstanding! We ordered Quesadilla de Pescado for appentizers, and it was really good and flavorful. For a main course i've ordered Mariscada, which was served to me cold, but as soon as i told the waitress she was very apologetic and my dish was swaped within a few minutes for a hot dish. It was very good and flavorful. My husband had Arrachera but he said the meat wasn't that great. Overall i really liked it but don't think it's worth to spend so much for a regular priced menu. I saw a lot of people with pitchers of sangria and appetizers only. The ambience is nice and they have a roof top open space, which adds value to this place.

Restaurant service was quiet to begin with. Guacamole is good and in fact the one thing good about the food other than the sorbet for restaurant week but it was a bit salty but still good. Server was not attentative occasionally would have to flag down another server or a busser. My steak was supposedly medium n grilled but i got medium well unseasoned and burned parts. The Mariscada is supposedly like a seafood soup or broth tradiationally and it was not as expected nor delivered it was jus rice n some seafood as stated on menu. Had the server been more attentative we wouldve known what was coming and there was barely any tables there too.

Two friends & I ate here for dinner during Restaurant Week. Bar was great while we waited, very attentive bartender. I tried red snapper quesadillas, fluke & chocoflan and tried the caiparinha and mezcal & pear cocktail. No uncleared plates, and I didn't hear any complaints! Variety offered on the prix fixe menu wasn't great, but to be expected for RW. All of my dishes did exceed expectations (flavourful but not too spicy, well-balanced), although portions were just on the small side (had I perhaps added an appetizer or small dish, then just right). Unfortunately, while staff was friendly, service was quite slow (just under two hours including rush for the cheque in order to catch a train) so food was not always at ideal temperature.

First disappointment was that happy hour only qualifies for the bar downstairs. Once we were seated upstairs, we couldn't take advantage of half-priced drinks. The portions were very small for restaurant week - I left hungry. In addition to being a miniscule portion, the ceviche was too sweet. I really liked the coconut rice in the seafood dish. The dessert was advertised as an assortment of gelatos and sorbets, but there was only one flavor. If you come to this restaurant, order from the regular menu. Restaurant week was not a good deal - overall disappointed.

We started with the huac, which was excellent. All the entrees were delicious and beautifully presented with the exception of my dads. He ordered the pancakes and it was extremely small portion. He's a hearty eater so needless to say he wasn't happy about that! Other than that, no real complaints. Would definitely return.
