    Mixed feeling about the service here. Arriving for my reservation, I found we'd been given a table in the bar--which I don't think is appropriate for a reservation unless it's been requested. When I asked to be seated in the dining room, I really had to insist. They did comply, though, with a delay of only 5 minutes. After that, service was really good: the manager checked in with us more than once, and our server was wonderful: unobtrusive, friendly, available, had great menu and wine knowledge. we gave her 25% tip. Food here is very tasty: not mindblowing, but there's a good flavor and texture sensibility, and the menu has good variety and range in all categories.

    The experience was OK, although the food was not necessarily memorable. I would also like to note that I had specifically requested a table outside when I made my reservation and that my request was not honored. The server was excellent but the busboys hovered, trying to take our guacamole from us multiple times, so we finally gave up fighting them off and let them take it away.

    The presentation of the food is wonderful. Common criticism of the food is that it isn't spicy enough. For those who appreciate being able to taste wonderful food without being overpowered by spices, this shouldn't be a concern. If you need your Mexican food overloaded with paprika and cayenne pepper, don't eat here. My opinion, the food is worth a visit.

    It was my wife's birthday and I selected Pampano for it's ambiance and food. She really enjoyed herself and will recommend it to her friends.     The service is sub-par, but if you wave frantically at the waiters who are chatting in the corner by the bar they'll eventually remember they're serving you and come over. The bus boys though, they are at your table as you're putting the last forkful of food into your mouth. An even balance between the two extremes would make this place perfect.

    Excellent food and ambience as always. Service was good, though not as "spot on" as in the past. I was surprised this time by how high the bill was, more so than in the several prior times I have dined here. We had a guacamole starter, two appetizers, two entrees and 3 drinks and the bill was $145 before tip! Overall, still a fine restaurant, but in the past I would have called it "outstanding." Seems to have lost just a bit of its shine.

    I've eaten at all the best Mexican restaurants in NYC and Pampano consistently has the highest quality food with the best flavors. Of course, you pay for it, but you do get what you pay for. The service is consistently attentive and the food is uniformly excellent. The shrimp in a tomato pepper broth and queso was delightful and my companion cleaned his plate of chicken breast in mole. The ambience is a bit more elegant than Rosa Mexicano or Maya and the outdoor seating is lovely for summer nightime dining. One of my favorite places in the city.

    We had one of the best dinners of our recent three day New York trip at Pampano--the food was absolutely delicious--my tuna was perhaps the best I have EVER had, and my entire table loved their meals. Service was pleasant and efficient, and although I didn't try it the house margarita was a bit hit with my group. Overall I highly recommend this restaurant!

    The food and service is wonderful, this was our fourth visit. The only bad thing I could say is that when we first arrived we were asked to wait in the bar because our table was still occupied, but that they should have it ready in 10 - 15 minutes. When I told her we would just wait in the foyer, all of a sudden our table was ready. I know restuarnats make a large portion of their revenue from the sale of liquor, but I don't like being lied to. This seems to be a common practice in Manhattan.

    The Food was wonderful. The Hostess(s) were not friendly. We were seated at a very bad table right in a hallway next to doors and a very noisey party. When I found the second floor and asked to be moved there, the hostess was almost impolite. The waiter was pretty good...better at the end of the meal (near tip time) than the beginning. Margaritas's were too small. The outdoor dining on the roof was closed but looks like it might be fun. We will return to try it.

    My experience was terrible! My reservation was at 7.30PM, I arrived there at 7.15 PM and waited one hour and a half to get my table!!!! which at that point I didn't get... I had been at the bar too long to have dinner again... it's a shame that the reservation was useless... I never thought pampano restaurant would have this type of service... wait almost two hours to get a table of 3 !!!

    It's been 2 years since I went there. Went there with friends on Tuesday night We all LOVED our food! The cocktails were on the strong side, but hey, we got our money's worth! We shared the guoc and the foodie friend was very happy with how the consistency was and the fact that the chips were warm! Another friend who used to be in the restaurant business was impressed with the second floor ambience, the food (both entree and dessert), and the quality of service by the waitress (her name was Sandra/Angela?). I loved every bite of my mariscada and my warm corn cake. Over all, very pleasant experience. Will def. come back!

    Attractive restaurant, very welcoming "sunny" environment. Service was excellent, attentive but not rushed. Many creative fish dishes, my salmon was quite nice.     The food was good but I was not happy about the waiters/waitresses. Our reservation was at 1:30pm and the wait staff came to our table to see if we were leaving every other minutes after 2:30pm and one of them even said aloud that "they have not finished?!". He wanted us to hear and leave, I guess. If the restaurant would like for guests to leave by 2:30pm, it should not take any reservation at 1:30pm. I conclude that this restauranat is not a place for seeing a friend over lunch as it expects the guests to leave after one hour.

    I have been to Pampano twice before and loved it. This time it was not quite as impressive as before. I can't quite put my finger on why, maybe it was a bit of indifference from the staff. The food was really tasty but the portion was almost not enough. It was only lunch yet I was just about satisfied. I would return and give it another chance. Nothing really blatantly wrong, but something was missing.
