  • "I truly enjoy this restaurant. I work with many clients from around the world and they always love Pampanos for lunch. You have a nice selection of restaurants in midtown, but Pampanos never fails in food, service, and overal experience."

  • "Food and service are always outstanding. The smoked swordfish appetizer was a perfect appetizer ,fresh and slightly smoky. The Sea scallpsy were plump , juicy and perfectly seared golden brown, the watermelon salsa was a refreshing complement. The mariscada was brimming with fresh seafood atop delicious coconut cilantro rice. The service was outstanding, the wait staff was very attentive"

  • "Lunch took over 2 hours and much of it was spent waiting for the food. The servers aren't good at dealing with large groups - we were a group of 7 and there was another large group nearby, so this was probably why we had to wait so long for our food to come."

  • "Love the guacamole, red sangria and the rooftop seating! My husband and I have been there twice and would go back again!"

  • "Pampano gets it almost all right. The food is fresh; the menu interesting and thoughtful; the plate presentation is attractive and the combined effort makes for a fresh, tasty and enjoyable dinning experience - upscaled Mexican done very well. The drinks are also well done - fresh ingredients, not sugary, and interesting combinations. While no dish seemed crazy expensive, the overall bill seemed high (it was absolutely accurate) for what we had - but again, very good - it just "felt" high for what it was. And the service was good - pleasant and attentive - but not overly informative. The only real hiccup in service is that there was confusion as to who order what when the food came (at these prices, that detail should be handled better)."

  • "The food, the drinks and the ambiance were great! Would be fun for groups. Definately worth a return visit!"

  • "We have eaten at Pampano innumerable times and always find it dependably wonderful...great food, well presented by a friendly and attentive staff and management. The outdoor terrace is heavenly in the summer. Great ceviche to begin and an excellent selection of interesting and different main courses and appetizers. Move up from chips, salsa and burritos to really outstanding Mexican food !"

  • "I enjoyed it very much---the food, the service, the actual physical facility. They have changed the menu somewhat, and I miss the fish quesadilla---one of their very best dishes in my view."

  • "First time here on a recommendation, my dining companion and I both foodies with sophisticated palates. This, some of the best Mexican food ever - sublime, beautifully presented, nuanced, fresh -- what Mexican often isn't. Lovely venue, knowledgeable, helpful staff. A find that we look forward to returning to again and again. Don't miss the combination starter guacamole/swordfish dip."

  • "I love this restaurant. The food is always amazing and the service is always on point. Yes, the guacamole is delicious but try to branch out and get the smoked swordfish. Totally mind blowing. I bring anyone visiting me in the city here, and my friends. Everyone is always amazed at how great the food is. In addition I love the ambiance upstairs. You will never be disappointed!!"

  • "For those who think Mexican food means Tacos and Burritos, Pampano is a great introduction to a distinctive cuisine characterized by spiciness and a unique style, seafood lovers will delight the huachinango, the black cod fish and the spectacular sea bass. This place is truly delicious. We started with the guacomole and smoked sword fish dip, Pampano and Tamarind Margarita. For entrees, we had the Robalo and the Camarones Pampano. It was perfectly tasteful. Our experience with service was divine. Mexican waiters were attentive to every need of our table and were helpful and friendly. Pampano is for us one of the best Mexican places in the NYC area."

  • "I'll try this place again for a customer dinner. I love the ambience and the unique menu."

  • "This was a good experience without reaching the point of great experience. I had some excellent company with me, and that made my evening. The service was excellent, and the food was good. The restaurant advertises as Mexican but the Mexican element is very subtle, therefore I would more likely call it "Mexican-International"."

  • "have been to pampano 3-4 times over past 8 years. After a long hiatus fortunately it's still good. In particular the dining room is beautiful, simple and makes you feel like you're on vacation. Exactly what we wanted for a nice girls dinner. Service was perfectly attentive. Good drinks. Whatever they've done to the bar downstairs has totally killed it. Used to feel cozy and nice space for pre-drinks before heading upstairs for dinner. Felt clinical and at 8.30pm on a saturday night, not a soul in there. The bar has the perfect opportunity to be a pre and post dinner spot."

  • "We always have a great experience here - the staff are friendly, and if it's not busy, are happy to let you linger with friends. Lovely atmosphere, interesting and tasty food. The balcony is great if you're lucky enough to get a table. Great find for midtown."

  • "First time here in Pampano and my experience was phenomenal. I took my good friend to celebrate her 29th Bday, and we were greeted with the out most pleasantness, the waiter even without me asking brought my friend a dessert with a candle. Will love to come here again."

  • "I love the sopa de elote (corn soup) and the acai caipirinha. My business associate raved about his grilled pineapple mojito."

  • "This is a civilized, grownup place with very good food."

  • "Swordfish taster a must; I had the octopus starter which was delicious, and I would recommend the Sea Bass main course which I think is their signature dish. We went early and had a choice of tables upstairs, was nice to sit near the balcony to get a cooling breeze. Decor is very stylish and restful. "

  • "Great mexican food And margaritas! Specialized in fish, I highly recommend to try the chevices. "

  • "Overall satisfied with this restaurant. Food is very good and menu is small that you wont get confused on what to order. Just FYI. their menu changes often so don't expect to have a favorite and have it again the next time around. This is my second visit & disappointed to find out the Paella has been taken off the menu. Also it was very hot inside with NO ac. We had to sit outside on the balcony to get some kind of. "

  • "I came here simply because I had a gift certificate to this restaurant. The waiter was very attentive and helpful. Despite the fact that the happy hour pricing is not applicable at the table, it was honored by the waiter since the bar area was closed for the private event. The food was mediocre with a very high price tag! i would say the highlight of my dining experience was strong margarita at a discounted price and solid guacamole. Unfortunately the main courses were not up to par. I remember leaving the restaurant and thinking of going to Chipotle "

  • "This restaurant has gone downhill. The food was lousy and the service was pathetic. The wait staff was arrogant to put it mildly. The telling sign was the number of empty tables on a Saturday night."
    Dined on 5/17/2014
  • "Started with the guacamole & swordfish dip appetizer which everybody at the table enjoyed. We shared lobster tacos and rock shrimp appetizers which were tasty but portionwise on the petite side. For entrees we had the filet mignon (good cut of beef but flavorwise not very memorable - the mashed potatoes and chorizo that it came with went untouched), crispy salmon (very fresh, on the sweet side), and our favorite the mariscada (an assortment of fresh seafood on cilantro-coconut rice). As if this wasnt enough food, we ordered yucca fries and plaintains. I really liked the spicy-tart glaze they used on the yucca fries. Their plaintains were the best i've ever had. For dessert, the hazelnut bomb was much preferred over the chocoflan. "

  • "The airy upstairs dining room is spacious and calming. The service was great and that combined with the delicious and creative food made our lunch wonderful. "

  • "We booked Sunday brunch based on good reviews and were not disappointed. We opted for the "bottomless brunch" which gave us the opportunity to try a number of items. There was a good variety and the portions were bigger than expected. Their version of eggs benedict was excellent. Also really liked both the mushroom and steak flatbreads. The best were their margaritas. For $39/pp it was a great deal! We'll definitely be back again. "

  • "Very surprise to see that this restaurant actually too my expectations. The food was prepared very nicely and since we ordered 4 cerviches along with our main courses we didn't even have room for desserts. A definite 2nd time visit for its food and added dessert"

  • "I have been here a couple of time. Food is always very good. Great options, full of flavor. Average sizes but good enough. The last visit the service was blah. We were planning to order a number of appetizers and have drinks which I could tell irked the server. We didn't matter any more because we were not going to be a big tab. We still spent $150 but the attitude didn't improve. The rest of the serving staff was good and helpful with requests (more salsa, hot salsa, etc...) and the water glasses were always kept full. I will come back to enjoy the food and hopefully get a friendlier waiter!"

  • "I was pleasantly surprised at the interesting space. I loved the large paddle fans and authentic feel to the upstairs dining room. The specialty Margarita was yummy - and the guacamole was outstanding! We shared a few entrees and there was plenty."

  • "Airy and sundrenched both inside and out, wih a varied menu and attentive staff to match the feastive atmoshpere of this mid-town east Mexican eatery. Although the menu hales from south-of-the-border, there are none of the "usual suspects" to be found. Whether you're in the mood for beef, fish, chicken, pork, or a nice meat free dish there is much to choose from with excellent wine pairings either by the glass or bottle. I will be sure to return for dinner on the balcony at sunset."

  • "We had a fabulous meal at Pampano and highly recommend it. It is upscale Mexican food at its best. Do not miss the guacamole!"

  • "Hard to beat - food is top notch, black bean soup to die for and guac made to order, which in our case meant spicy. Excellent fish. And they were incredibly accommodating. One of our diners was vegan and they made something special for him to order."

  • "What a wonderful place, great food and drinks. Most importantly, compare to most restaurants in NY, it's quiet! No loud music or some DJ in the corner, you can truly enjoy your meal and talk with your companion/friends."

  • "I have eaten quite a few times at Pampano. Though the noise level is a little loud for me, I continue to go there because it is a fun atmosphere and the food is always outstanding and beautifully presented. When I choose my courses there, I never know what they will taste like because they use flavors and combinations that are unique, but they are always delicious."

  • "My wife and I had reservations here after coming in to town to celebrate our anniversary and catch a show. The restaurant is in a beautiful old building that has been well decorated and furnished. We were greeted by two friendly young women at the hostess stand and once our reservation was confirmed quickly escorted to our table. The wait staff was a little slow in coming to the table and taking our order but once we got past that they were friendly and attentive. The food was fantastic - my sea bass and my wife's scallops were off-the-boat fresh and extremely well prepared. The margaritas were delicious as was the guacamole which we left not a trace of! Definitely would dine here again - a truly memorable experience."

  • "Innovative nouvelle Mexican/Spanish. Exciting menu and great, warm service. My favorite room is several flights up but well worth the climb. One of our favorite places to enjoy a festive evening with friends. Great lobster tostadas, amazing ceviche and tapas. "
