Diner Reviews
  • "Palomino was my husband's choice for a restaurant to celebrate his birthday--we had been here once before and loved it, so he wanted to go back again. Rave reviews for the macaroni and cheese, special tacos and bronzino. The atmosphere is warm and the menu is creative. We will be coming back again"

  • "Tapas was spot on. Tasty. Sangria delicious. Noise level was decent even though music was playing."

  • "The food is good, interesting menu and flavorful. The place has a nice decor, but the noise level is almost unbearable. On a Friday night when there was live music on top of the loud groups of tables and limited noise absorption, it was very hard to have a conversation. Good enough to go again though."

  • "I was disappointed after having read that Palomino was a very good restaurant. Not the case. Cheese and meat platter was very skimpy. A grilled octopus salad not tasty but bland. I can't even remember the other tapas I had it was so forgettable. I would not return unless they get their act together."

  • "My wife and I really enjoyed the food at Palomino. The server was excellent and every thing came to the table promply and hot. This was our first experience at this restaurant, but we will be back. It was a really good experience."

  • "We were just looking for a place after the movies to relax and enjoy some wine and appetizers, my girlfriend is very picky so I always get nervous suggesting a place, but my sister recommended that we give this place a try. I was glad that I did. The only complaint I got from her was why hadn't I brought her here before? Her favorite was the salmon tartar, mine was the truffle mac and cheese. The garlic shrimp and calamari were delicious too. I'm happy I finally found a place that we can both enjoy with great food and a very friendly staff."

  • "We were there for Paella night on Wed. July 16. When we arrived, we noticed it was a little warm ( 6 PM). The server said that she will have the air cond turned up. It turns out, that we found out later, that it was down for the count. We were verry, very uncomfortable all night. Food was great!"

  • "Good food but food took an hour to get to our table and the waitress was very rude. I read the reviews of this restaurant before I arrived so I knew service may not be up to par, but when I went there to try it out, they previous reviews were spot on. Wanted to like this place but the waitress ruined it for us. Wonderful way to spend our anniversary, not."

  • "Food very good service was lacking and very inattentive."

  • "The Tapas dishes were delicious as were the cocktails. The entrees were a bit uneven - paella was boring & needed more flavor; branzino was very good & nicely spiced but the enchillada-like rolls with shrimp couscous that were below it were just ok. The restaurant had a high noise level on a Friday evening. The waitress was a bit pushy & failed to pay attention to how we wanted things served (ie. sauce on the side), and the busboy was clumsy & sort of rude in his manner of clearing dishes. In short, we were far more impressed our 1st time here, then with our recent repeat visit. "

  • "Had a reservation for 8. Got seated at 8:35. They came by three times and started to take our plates before we were finished."

  • "Very excited to try this place. However, service was extremely slow. Took forever to get our drinks. In fact I had to ask our waiter after he came over a 2nd time to take our order, "our drinks" and when he went back to the bar, it appeared as if he had never even put our order in. We waited too long for drinks! Not a good way to start. Lapses in getting our water glasses refilled, etc. as for the food. appetizer came out cold, shrimp tamale...disappointing. The paella, which the waiter recommended, was lacking flavor but loaded with seafood. On the positive side, the tortilla soup was excellent as were the scallop and shrimp. Good meal, just could have been much better!"

  • "Mother's Day late lunch pre fixed menu-fabulous! Great service, terrific food, very comfortable venue to enjoy a lovely afternoon."

  • "Start with the tortilla soup, then order the small plates. While the full dinners are good enough, they are nowhere near as satisfying as having a bunch of the small plates. The cod tacos are outstanding, with the lightest tempura ever."

  • "It's a very attractive space, good service, excellent food. We had the guacamole (made fresh at the table and to the desired heat); it was delicious as was the paella. Service could have been a bit more attentive (had to ask for water refill), but that was a very small negative. Would definitely return."

  • "We went to Palomino for brunch. The staff are friendly and professional. The restaurant is very beautiful inside and has nice paintings and flowers. Our waiter explained all of the dishes because we were not familiar with the cuisine. There was wonderful live music (guitar) and the musician asked if we would request a song for him to play, which was nice. The food was delicious and well presented. The price was reasonable for lunch and such a special experience. We highly recommend this restaurant."

  • "Delicious tapas, and I loved the shrimp and scallop entree in the potato "nest." Our waitress was the best (Justine). Can't wait to go back!"

  • "We were excited when we walked in to this lively little place as it has an urban vibe. Very noisy in a good way: small space crammed with people in a good mood. The food and drinks WERE good but the service, perhaps partly due to the noise level, was friendly but ineffectual. Hostess forgot about us and had to be reminded that our reservation was 45 minutes past (people were walking in and being seated immediately while we waited). Bartender forgot about my order, then served me the wrong drink. My husband got the wrong dinner. Rather frustrating evening from beginning to end. There were enough pluses, however, that we'll try again. I just hope they tighten up the procedural stuff so guests aren't forgotten and orders are input accurately."

  • "I live in Massachusetts with family north of Manhattan. I booked a table for 6 adults and 1 child at Palomino blindly, when we decided to spend Easter Sunday together and needed an afternoon reservation. We were happy to find an enjoyably crowded bistro with an interesting brunch menu, 3 different types of Sangria and a staff who knew just how to be attentive without being overbearing. They were kind enough to offer a complimentary appetizer when my niece was a little upset about her order. I plan to go back to Palomino the next time I am north of New York and try the dinner menu."

  • "Great food, very accomadating and attentive staff, bar tender was slow. Have been there several times and will return. Because of how the tables are set up the noise level on Saturday night is defintely high. Valet parking makes this restaurant a total winner!"

  • "I was dubious about Palomino, perhaps mostly because of the name, but now I've been there twice and it is one of my new favorite restaurants. The southwestern-style (for lack of a better description) food is excellent, the place is lively but not so noisy that you can't talk, and the atmosphere is relaxed. We were there with another couple, and we also saw families with teenage children. The first time we went for Sunday lunch, and the menu included both brunch and lunch (really dinner) dishes with a very reasonably priced 3-course option and some pretty unobtrusive guitar music. The second time we were there on a Saturday night and it was more crowded, so be sure to make a reservation. We'll go back again soon."

  • "The food was very good (sorry, I don't give great often), the service as well. We dined early on a Sunday evening so it was quiet, but the room is large and I don't imagine the noise being too much even when full."

  • "we are regulars and this was a tough night for us. the service was incredibly slow despite ordering quickly. some dishes were served cold, our cocktails were not what we ordered and the paella was just not very good. while the staff attempted to make up for some of this, it was really too late after waiting more than 30 minutes for the entrees. we'll go back for bar stuff but not for a meal."

  • "It is worth going just to enjoy the new chicken dish on the menu."

  • "First of all the food was great! The chicken taco app is AMAZING! Now the service. I couldn't decide if this place is family run or not. The maître d seemed overwhelmed when we walked in. It was packed at 8pm on a Sat night (a good sign for restaurant opened almost a year). Went to bar for a drink and we were seated in a nice corner table with a table the size of a bar table. Ok, our waiter struggled to remember the one special, forgot to put my husbands beer order in and went back and forth from attentive to non existent. There was a good female water server that we wished had been our waitress. Also another woman who seemed to be the back up maître d was very professional. Waited long for apps but then quicker for main dishes."

  • "Delicious food, very attentive service, lovely ambiance . We came for a birthday dinner, our group was an hour late but the staff couldn't have been nicer or more accommodating . We were the last to leave but never felt rushed. Try the blood orange marguarittas ! Yum. And the salmon tartar appy is awesome too. Everything was great"

  • "Overall we had a great time, dinner was delicious, drinks were really good, service was excellent. We had a 5pm reservation on a Sunday so it was very nice to practically have the place to ourselves, no noise or waiters rushing by, etc. Will definitely come back again, soon!"

  • "We have eaten here 4 times and before at his other restaurant Bistro Latino and just love it! The staff is friendly & attentive. I always have the Blood Orange Sangria (love it), but my others have tried many drinks and have enjoyed them all. There were 4 of us this time and we all had different appetizers, all were good, but the Pork Belly Chicharron and Mini Cod Tacos were both fantastic. My husband had his usual Paella (We are latino and Palomino's is the only place he will order it from outside of my kitchen). 2 of us had the crusty salmon which was also moist and delicious ordered medium rare. The maitre'd and chef came to the table at different times to check in on us, which is a nice touch. I believe you just can't go wrong!"

  • "For restaurant week I thought i was one of the better menus out there. Food and service was amazing! Had the Salmon and Avocado tartare that was so fresh. The chicken dish was nice. Not my favorite and the Spanish flan was the perfect ending. The only bad thing, for me, was that the owner Rafael was there. He seemed stressed and not smiling at all while roaming in the dining room. The one pet peeve I have, was that he only went to tables of people he knew and ignored the rest of the tables. I find that rude. My friend is a regular there and he didn't even know it. Because of that I will not go back."

  • "Chef Palomino never disappoints. This new addition to Larchmont is definitely a neighborhood gem with superb Latin inspired dishes. Like all his other restaurants, everything on the menu calls out your name. Can't wait to go back for more and by the way, they have a great cocktail selection too!"

  • "Nice decor and artwork but small, junky tables that slide and wobble at the slightest touch. Southwest cocktails are creative and well made, but mostly ice and little liquid. Nicely laid out menu - cheese/charcuterie, cold and hot tapas, and entrees. Tortilla soup had a bland, watery broth that ruined the whole dish. Crab croquettes were attractively presented but small and greasy. Service is disorganized - a nice matre d' seated me and took my coat, then a parade of various servers and busboys waited on me, some without speaking, all without introducing themself, explaining the menu, seeing if I had questions, etc. A complimentary southwest roll with chimichurri at the start is a nice touch and addictively good, but no refill was offered."
