Diner Reviews
  • "The bar was very noisy but the dinning room was quiet. We enjoyed our food and liked the wine they served. Since we went on a Wednesday the cost of bottles of wine were half price! We had an inexpensive Malbec that was good. Our fiends had never been to Palomino and they really enjoyed it!!"

  • "My friend and I have made Palomino our 'in' spot at which we have been celebrating our respective birthdays for a number of years! We've never been disappointed and, as a result, keep returning year after year."

  • "My "go to" restaurant for business or birthday lunches, the Palomino never fails to deliver. The new lunch menu offers a kale salad with quinoa and grilled chicken, and was the perfectly healthy entrée salad for a summer day. Service was very good though the server failed to offer refills for our iced teas, but otherwise can't complain."

  • "Our group of ladies had a delightful pre-theater Saturday lunch at Palomino. We had two gluten free people and one person with multiple food allergies. The server was bright, helpful and made sure to ask before offering another choice. She provided gluten free pizza crust bread as an alternative which we eagerly accepted. I've dined here recently pre-theater in the evenings, but wasn't as excited by the quality of the meal. This lunch seemed much better. I think they could kick it up a notch in the evening, but the Saturday luncheon chef was on his game!"

  • "Fun atmosphere. Good food. Friendly service. When they heard it was my friend's birthday, they surprised her with a special dessert. Even the valets were welcoming and friendly."

  • "The menu was varied. The food was good and the proximity to the theater made it a good choice."

  • "Right after we ordered our appetizers, the main circuit went out, no power, smoke started filling the dining room and we were advised to go. Disappointed because we had eaten here before."

  • "I was surprised by a lot of things at Palomino. The office building look is very unexpected for LA, and especially for Westwood. The service was... interesting. I don't know if our server was new to the job or thought maybe he was serving someone famous or something, but he was VERY awkward about everything. Hesitant in everything he did, he half started to clear our appetizer plates then mumbled something and backed off. They sat there through the meal, empty, taking up space. He did this hesitation/mumbling thing a few times. It was a little confusing. Finally, the food looked like it should be amazing but then turned out to be pretty bland. Tasty, but nothing to go back for. For me, anyway. My friend liked what she got."

  • "Service was so neglectful that it cancels out the positive food and ambiance. Sorry. This time it was really a miss."

  • "Both my friend and I enjoyed our dining experience at Palomino. We took advantage of the dineLA prix-fixe three-course lunch offered by the restaurant and were not disappointed in the least. The food (salad, grilled salmon, creme brulee) was wonderful, seasoned just right, and the service was flawless. Our waiter was attentive, friendly, and had a nice sense of humor. We were enjoying the food and the nice relaxed ambience so much that we didn't realize that we were there a little over two hours until we were getting ready to leave. We never felt rushed."

  • "Palomino's food is just ok. It is definitely no where near authentic Italian. It is Americanized Italian food and not even that good in that category. The best thing was the tiramisu, which tasted nothing like tiramisu-- no coffee taste-- but was a good chocolate cake."

  • "Went for lunch before a show at the Geffen, and it was during DineLA restaurant week. The food & service were wonderful. The chef is outstanding & I would recommend it to everyone."

  • "We had been to the Palomino in San Francisco and the one in L.A. was just as good! Great food choices and happy hour prices!"

  • "Two hours for lunch is far to slow during the week."

  • "Staff is friendly. Place is outdated, stale atmosphere, not good place for a date. Seems like a good place for seniors, family occasion or business lunch. Meatballs were good. Ordered Caprese salad, too much dressing and they used tons of mixed greens for some reason. Ordered short rib mushroom ravioli. They brought out the wrong dish. When I finally received the correct order the short rib was cold and the mushroom ravioli just didn't pair well."

  • "Sunday Brunch was not the best. Very slow in getting food and order was not correct. Though I have liked the restaurant in the past was rather disappointed. Can not recommend for brunch."
    Dined on 7/13/2014
  • "We have eaten in this place several times and had a positive experience. This time we dod not. We split a Caprese salad that had almost no cheese and was over dressed. A "Blanco" pizza was tasteless. However, we may try again."

  • "The food, ambiance, and service was spectacular! They knew we had to get to the Geffen for a play and they accommodated our schedule and timing. We had such a great time before the performance, we decided to go back here for a couple more glasses of wine afterwards, and the bartender was fantastic! I definitely recommend this place!"

  • "Service was slow for a Sunday brunch and the restaurant was not busy at all. Food was mediocre and portions were disappointing. Restaurant itself was nice with its design and aesthetics but overall nothing compared to its sister restaurants such as Kincaid's or Skates."

  • "Visiting Stein Eye Institute and needed a great easy place close for lunch. Mixed age group 24-90 years. Everyone enjoyed food and drink. Great light atmosphere."

  • "Our dinner was delicious and service was very good. Our waiter was very attendtive, greeted us when we were seated and asked for drink order. After a short time he came to take our orders - all were served in a timely manner and presentation was great. Nicoise salad looked and tasted delicious and four cheese penne was very good as well."

  • "I've had both amazing meals and just good meals here, but I've never had a bad one. The food is always very good, and some times even better. The service is terrific. The bar is lively and exciting. It's a well-worth stop. Only thing to note, if you ask for your salmon medium it comes kind of well done, so maybe go for medium rare and send it back for a touch more if it's not right."

  • "Dont really write reviews but the food here was so good it merits it. In fact it was so good we went back the next night. Pork Loin, Lamb shank both superb and the crème brûlée is simply the best I have ever had - and I have had a few!"

  • "We had brunch here for Father's day. The food was great, the service was great, and the restaurant layout and ambiance were very nice."

  • "A nice visit - we attended as a graduation celebration - restaurant accommodated finding us an earlier table than our reservation was booked for - all in all, a great time with very good food!"

  • "Come on Los Angeles -- I know we can do better than this! Palomino in Westwood at 6:30 with reservation for dinner on a Thursday night --- how can you mess that up. Palomino held to the reservation, but the service was so-so at best. Had to find someone to even serve us a first drink--- no one followed up with a dessert suggestion, no personality, and food was just okay.I walked out of there thinking -- Come on Los Angeles --- I know we can do better than this!"

  • "Like to go here b/c convenient but changes in dinner aren't to my liking so not my 1st choice for dinner. Like their lunch menu so still first choice."

  • "I meet for lunch here about every 6 months and it is always great.....service is excellent on a lunch hour and servers very friendly. I had a new salmon dish in a skillet with quinoa, squash and orange slices....outstanding....I couldn't get enough!"

  • "The ambiance here is lovely and comfortable. Our server arrived quickly and took our beverage orders. Bread arrived and we ordered entrees. Both entrees were excellent in quality and freshness. Our server did not check back as he should have but that did not mitigate our experience."

  • "The menu is varied and this was a good meeting place for five longtime friends - not too noisy for conversation."

  • "Although the menu is has great choices in meat and pasta, I always order the fish and the copper river salmon was wonderful. Love the artichoke dip too. "

  • "Always a "go to" when we are in Westwood. Service is fantastic, food is fantastic and it is within walkiing distance to The Geffen Theater."

  • "Took my wife and her parents for Sunday brunch expecting a very nice experience based on prior reviews in Open Table. Boy, were we disappointed. We were the only customers for a good half hour and only one other group entered before we left. That should have tipped us off. It took forever to get a waiter's attention just for coffee. When the waitress ambled over with an obvious trainee alongside my mother in law asked the two of them if there were any onions in the omelette. Both waitresses paused with blank looks. One of them said she didn't know while the other began reading the ingredients from the menu hoping to learn the answer. The food was "OK", comparable to a Dennys although Dennys service is better."

  • "I had not eaten at a Palomino restaurant in many years, but the quality of the food and service was just as good as I remembered. This restaurant proved to be an excellent choice for my daughter's pre-graduation ceremony luncheon for a group of five people. I do not normally patronize chain restaurants, but I make an exception for Palomino."

  • "We were wanting a quick bite before going to the Geffen. Ordered the Halibut special and shared it. Which by the standards of this joint meant two bites per person. And a high price tag. $35.00 Thankfully we split the chop salad first which was good and filling. Otherwise, we were underwhelmed by the entire experience. Not to mention the horrendous heat in the restaurant. Yes it was 100 outside --- but that is why we ducked into the restaurant --- to get out of the heat. But it was awful inside with a few fans blowing. The management needs to check their AC and have it serviced."

  • "Hello, we went to Palomino's in Westwood for Mother's Day Brunch... we had a great time. This was our second visit to Palomino, with the first being during DineLA. We really enjoyed the atmosphere, the serving staff, and the menu ... lots to choose from and lots of options for many different people and their different likes. "

  • "Took our daughter here to celebrate a late birthday! Waitress, Alex, was very friendly, made our dinner so much more enjoyable. She recommended a dessert, cherries/apples cobbler served with one scoop of vanilla bean gelato. It was delicious, another scoop of gelato would've been even better."
