Finding a good restaurant for dinner before 5pm in Westwood is a challenge. The Geffen Playhouse matinee performance ended earlier than usual so we searched for a restaurant that would allow the kind of leisurely dining we wanted. The Palomino provided exactly what we were looking for. The food was good. The prices were acceptable and fair. The service was excellent. Palomino provided a great backdrop for friends to catch up with one another. We will go back.

Our server was attentive and fast. He checked with us often to see if we needed anything. Our food arrived in adequate time and was delicious. There were four of us and we all ordered something different. All entrees were fresh and tasty. The room here is lovely and large. No crowding with people at the next table. I would recommend it to anyone who likes good food.

While the kitchen has never been doing more innovative offerings, and the menu's latest change features some more health-conscious items, the service seems to be going in the opposite direction. The last four times I have been here the management and food have been getting better, but the actual wait staff has been getting worse. Perhaps it's hard to find good servers these days. And it's like they need a whole re-boot: the way they address the table, the length of time to get someone's attention, the rushing us out the door. It's like a four star restaurant with the service staff from Applebees. It's frustrating. By the way, this does not speak to the bartenders. They are always great at Palomino. And management does seem great.

Palomino is always excellent. For lunch, for dinner, for groups, or for the bar (where you can also eat, both at the bar and at tables in the bar area). You always feel welcome, the service is attentive, and the food is reliably tasty. In addition, Wine Down Wednesdays allows you to try some interesting bottles of wines at half price--wines you might not otherwise order because of their expense. Just a few nights ago we had a lovely bottle of Chardonnay normally priced at $60 for $30. It tasted even better at $30 than it would have at $60! Anyway, it's a good, sturdy restaurant and we've never had a less than enjoyable experience.

My wife and I had an excellent meal at this modern Italian restaurant in Westwood. Service was spotty, but that may have been our specific waiter, so I would definitely go again. My wife and I split a chopped salad, which was plenty big enough for 2 of us, then I had a salmon dish that was perfectly prepared. She had the Steak Frite which was also excellent. Atmosphere is modern, not stuffy. Prices are reasonable fr the area. Our meal, including 2 glasses of wine, the salad, and 2 meals - was $88 before the tip.

A very positive dining experience. Our server was pleasant and very attentive. Food selection is varied and our choices were excellent. Portibello Mushroom soup was particularly good. Everything looked very good and tasted good. Lunch combination specials were a very nice way of having smaller portions but yet very satisfying.

    SERVICE

We have always enjoyed dining at Palomino, but this last visit was quite disappointing. A long wait before going to ask the manager if a server was going to be coming to our table. The manager finally came to our table to take our order and even after that, he service was extremely slow. The water that was poured during the meal was warm with no ice, and I had to ask for cold water. I had informed the waiter that it was a birthday celebration for my daughter and wife. Why they were in the restroom, the server brought two small scoops of vanilla ice cream with candles lit. The candles began to melt onto the ice cream before my wife and daughter returned to the table. I expected much better for the high prices and reputation.

The food is so mediocre. The menu items don't come out the way that they are described. The crab and artichoke dip used to be so great- now it is watery and has big chunks of artichoke and hardly any crab. The caprese salad has baby greens tossed in dressing with poor quality tomatoes and hard mozzarella. Not how it is described on the menu. The pizza is okay- not great, though. We wish Palomino was better because we live in the neighborhood and would go more often. Every time we give it another chance, we are disappointed.

The bar was very noisy but the dinning room was quiet. We enjoyed our food and liked the wine they served. Since we went on a Wednesday the cost of bottles of wine were half price! We had an inexpensive Malbec that was good. Our fiends had never been to Palomino and they really enjoyed it!!

My "go to" restaurant for business or birthday lunches, the Palomino never fails to deliver. The new lunch menu offers a kale salad with quinoa and grilled chicken, and was the perfectly healthy entrée salad for a summer day. Service was very good though the server failed to offer refills for our iced teas, but otherwise can't complain.

Our group of ladies had a delightful pre-theater Saturday lunch at Palomino. We had two gluten free people and one person with multiple food allergies. The server was bright, helpful and made sure to ask before offering another choice. She provided gluten free pizza crust bread as an alternative which we eagerly accepted. I've dined here recently pre-theater in the evenings, but wasn't as excited by the quality of the meal. This lunch seemed much better. I think they could kick it up a notch in the evening, but the Saturday luncheon chef was on his game!

I was surprised by a lot of things at Palomino. The office building look is very unexpected for LA, and especially for Westwood. The service was... interesting. I don't know if our server was new to the job or thought maybe he was serving someone famous or something, but he was VERY awkward about everything. Hesitant in everything he did, he half started to clear our appetizer plates then mumbled something and backed off. They sat there through the meal, empty, taking up space. He did this hesitation/mumbling thing a few times. It was a little confusing. Finally, the food looked like it should be amazing but then turned out to be pretty bland. Tasty, but nothing to go back for. For me, anyway. My friend liked what she got.

Both my friend and I enjoyed our dining experience at Palomino. We took advantage of the dineLA prix-fixe three-course lunch offered by the restaurant and were not disappointed in the least. The food (salad, grilled salmon, creme brulee) was wonderful, seasoned just right, and the service was flawless. Our waiter was attentive, friendly, and had a nice sense of humor. We were enjoying the food and the nice relaxed ambience so much that we didn't realize that we were there a little over two hours until we were getting ready to leave. We never felt rushed.

Palomino's food is just ok. It is definitely no where near authentic Italian. It is Americanized Italian food and not even that good in that category. The best thing was the tiramisu, which tasted nothing like tiramisu-- no coffee taste-- but was a good chocolate cake.

Staff is friendly. Place is outdated, stale atmosphere, not good place for a date. Seems like a good place for seniors, family occasion or business lunch. Meatballs were good. Ordered Caprese salad, too much dressing and they used tons of mixed greens for some reason. Ordered short rib mushroom ravioli. They brought out the wrong dish. When I finally received the correct order the short rib was cold and the mushroom ravioli just didn't pair well.
