  • "We went on a Sunday night, and there wasn't a crowd. Waiter was exceptional, and the food was really good. It was a bit pricey, but worth it."

  • "I had seen quite a few great reviews for this as a romantic dinner location, but it def. wasn't. I had specifically noted that it was for a birthday for my boyfriend, just party of two -- yet we got seated right next to a large loud party -- the restaurant was empty, so it wasn't as if it was due to limited spacing/busy... at least ask "if this is okay or if you prefer somewhere else?" Also, I expect the hostess to look presentable as the first person greet you - very poor ambiance. The waitress herself was nice, however took quite a bit to get our wine and then no refill the water or the wine from the bottle we ordered. Food arrived cold. Def. not a high-end experience or a mom-pop-shop experience where it's a lot more warmer/welcoming."

  • "Three of us went to dinner. The food was outstanding (one of us is an Executive Chef for over 15 years). Each of us had a different entree and all three were VERY pleased with our choices. We had calamari for appetizer, it was wonderful. Our waiter, Nick was very good as well. Attentive, yet not intrusive. Good time had by all."

  • "I live in Fort Worth, so I am not too familiar with downtown Dallas. I organized a dinner party with some family members for a special occasion and chose the Palomino solely because it was close to the workplace of one member of the party. The prices were reasonable and the menu looked good, so I figured why not? The restaurant ended up being fantastic! The bar was packed with the after-work cocktails crowd, but there was plenty of room in the dining room. The decor is excellent, and the service is very friendly. We all enjoyed our food, but mine was the best dish of the night. The braised lamb shank is perhaps the best lamb I've had in a restaurant. This is fine dining without the price tag. I can't say enough good things about it."

  • "It was refreshing to go to a restaurant which both has good food, and will freely and willingly make any reasonable substitution which is requested. I wanted the salmon, but did not care for the bean medley which was offered with it. The waiter gladly offered to trade it out for the much more appealing polenta, and it was a great match! It is a real pleasure to go to a "Non -Stuffy" restaurant in Dallas!"

  • "Dining room was fairly empty at 9pm. Waitress was friendly and service was adequate. Couple of things were disappointing though. Watched our main course sit under a heat lamp for almost 10 minutes while we were waiting. Servers were too involved in prep work. Saw one server repeatedly stop through food line and grab food and eat it! At one point he was licking his fingers and then grabbed a stack of plates! I like the food here. It was good, but for their business to be as slow as it was I would of expected better attention. The way we were seated to the proximity of the kitchen allowed us to see almost everything. I would think they would be a little more conscious of their behavior or maybe they just don't care."

  • ""Let's have a Kiki, I wanna have a Kiki, lock the doors tight" but I want to do it a Palomino. I just LOVE Palomino since I discovered it in Minneapolis 20 years ago. It's a great place for friends to gather and kiki, a great place to purpose to you girl or guy, and you eat there alone and not feel isolated. I also love the openess of the resturant but you won't hear a lot of loud chatter, the food is INCREDIBLE, great wine, great Mojato's (I'll have anotha) and awesome service staff. Just maybe need to up their dessert game, although the Tiaramisu is excellent. For the atmosphere, food, service, and area it's the best kept secret in Dallas for lunch and dinner. Oh and the CHOP CHOP Salad is the staple for the resturant is a MUST HAVE!!!"

Then our service was almost non-existent since our waitress spent too much time tending to the large table and they seemed to have issues with the alcoholic drinks they ordered. We made it clear we need to be out by a certain time to make a show which she originally said would be no problem. Then the large group arrived. The foos was great as usual."

  • "We were seated by very nice hostesses, greeted by our server, ordered waters and drinks. We did not see our server for 15 min. He came back said the bar was backed up and did not even bring us our waters. We waited 15 - 20 min when another server asked us if we had been helped. We said we ordered our drinks forever ago, so he said he would at least get us waters. He never came back with waters and we never saw our drinks or were asked if we wanted an appetizer. After waiting 30 - 40 min with no drinks or food, we left and walked to a different restaurant where we had impeccable service and food. We will not be returning."

  • "Scallops and braised lamb shank both were very tasty. Small portion on the scallops, too small actually, maybe they were running out? Calamari appetizer was so so at best. What really ruined the evening was the pushy waiter who is probably better suited for a lower end restaurant. From the moment we sat down until the check the waiter was just off on everything - off on timing both of when to order items and when not, how long it took to bring drinks and off on the order which included mushrooms when I specifically asked for none and he confirmed. Wine list is way over priced- $42 for Mark West Pinot and that's one of the cheapest on the list. Way too short of wine list. It was supposed to be a celebratory night but was a big let down."

  • "If I want to dine someplace special, with relatively good pricing, I always fall back on Palomino. The food is always good, service very accommodating, and the atmosphere is good. The noise level is also a factor. I do not like to go to trendy restaurants with a lot of noise, makes me too nervous to enjoy the food and company. Palomino is not a noisy restaurant like those. And their menu is creative too. This is a very dependable place."

  • "My wife and have dined at Palominos numerous times and came to expect great food and service. Our favorite has been the Assiago Crusted Scallops. The scallops were great but the accompaniment to the entrée left a lot to be desired. The taste was bland and somewhat unidentifiable. The service seems to have slipped since our last visit and since we had business clients at dinner we were disappointed. Needless to say we will be dining in another restaurant next time."

  • "My girlfriend and I go to Palominos frequently when we are going to a performance in the Arts District. It's convenient and has great happy hour items. We actually ordered off the main menu and shared a sirloin steak with pom frites and grilled brussels sprouts. Steak was a little tough but tasty and the pom frites and grilled brussels sprouts were delicious! Our server was very attentive since the restaurant wasn't very busy. We were eating early."
