Diner Reviews
  • "I ALWAYS enjoy my dining experience at Palominos! GREAT food, romantic atmosphere and EXCELLENT service!!"

  • "Try the grilled salmon for a delicious and healthy meal! It is accompanied by grilled asparagus. The hummus is freshly made and is a great appetizer ! The service was also excellent!"

  • "I requested a table that was quiet and that's what we got. 3 hours of grazing through the different menu courses and great conversation was just what we needed. Our server was knowledgable, reciting the menu by memory, not intrusive with just the right amount of engagement. The food was great, with a variety of menu options from small plates to more substantial foodie type dishes."

  • "We enjoy going to Palominos for a light dinner before we go to Dallas Symphony performances. Their happy hour menu is great and nicely priced along with great cocktail specials. Will look forward to a return visit."

  • "went to Palomino with 5 work associates and had a wonderful evening. One later said that it was the highlight of the business trip. we ordered a number of appetizers to share to start the meal: the onion dip and the hummus were extraordinary. The flatbread pizza and calamari were also excellent. "

  • "Food was mediocre. My ravioli were swimming in the water they were cooked in, the Tilapia was rather uninspired, breaded and fried. The waiter got the wine wrong TWICE - he just did not get it that we wanted a Pinot Grigio and not a Sauvignon Blanc. Sorry."

  • "I enjoyed this trip to Palomino very much. I took my girlfriend here when I was showing her city since she's from out of town and she enjoyed the food, service, and location as well. I definitely recommend this as a nice lunch time stop."
    Dined on 5/17/2014
  • "No regrets. Small menu and wine list. Food portions small. The service was excellent and enjoyed the layout and ambiance. Would definitely return. "

  • "We had a wonderful time at the Mother's Day brunch. The food and service were excellent. My wife also received gifts to celebrate the day. We will be going back. "

  • "The food, wait staff and ambience was outstanding !!"

  • "We went there for Mothers day and the food was awful. We had not been there in awhile and the food has always been good. Don't know if because it was so crowded or not but will not be going back. There were 9 of us and no one liked their food. Service was ok."
    Dined on 5/11/2014
  • "I wish they would have put the lunch menu up on the website. However the limited menu was good enough to make us want to return for the whole menu options."

  • "We picked this based on the pic provided on open table. It more than exceded our expectations. We had a wonderful date and loved the fountain!"

  • "The food and service was terrific. I had the salmon and it was outstanding cooked perfectly. "

  • "We enjoyed Palomino. Great location and food. Very relaxed and cool vibe. Definitely would go back. to"

  • "The food was excellent, rotissiere seafood ravioli. But, the server brought a chipped iced tea glass, twice. Given the caliber of this restaurant, somewhat of a letdown."

  • "Food, service, atmosphere... Everything here is incredible."
    Dined on 4/30/2014
  • "We had a group lunch on the patio and had a delightful time. The salmon was wonderful and the salads were delicious and generous. Only negative was the fact our waitor seemed very distracted in taking out order while he was setting up other tables outside. We finally had to run him down to take the order. Once placed, the rest of the meal was great."

  • "great appetizers and drinks. nice happy hours prices and this includes saturday and sunday"

  • "I thought I saw the restaurant showed $$ for price. It would be more accurate to show $$$$. $54 for two for lunch."

  • "Had clients from out of town and Palomino shined. They really enjoyed it! We closed the deal too!"

  • "Excellent location and great outdoors dinning , however the food is greasy which make it heavy , and the service very rushing not relaxing . "

  • "It was just what I was looking for when I thought about having Easter brunch. The food was very good and there was a nice selection, not too much like some places are inclined to offer these days. One thing to note...the mashed potatoes were probably the best I've ever had so if you're looking for nothing more than great food...this is your place. BUT if you want more, you'll get it at Palamino."

  • "We were going to a musical that night and they were very attentive knowing we had to make it there by 730pm. Food was great, came out fast, drinks were delish as well! "

  • "Palomino is my favorite place to take guests from out of town -- the food is delicious, the physical location and the interior ambiance are lovely, and the service is always excellent. The menu has a broad range of food types (and prices), and the chef has been gracious on several occasions about making adjustments to accommodate allergies and personal preferences. This is a terrific way of showing people who do not live in Dallas that we eat things other than barbecue and Mexican food. (And it's a terrific place for those of us who live here, too!) HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. "

  • "We went on a Sunday night, and there wasn't a crowd. Waiter was exceptional, and the food was really good. It was a bit pricey, but worth it."

  • "I had seen quite a few great reviews for this as a romantic dinner location, but it def. wasn't. I had specifically noted that it was for a birthday for my boyfriend, just party of two -- yet we got seated right next to a large loud party -- the restaurant was empty, so it wasn't as if it was due to limited spacing/busy... at least ask "if this is okay or if you prefer somewhere else?" Also, I expect the hostess to look presentable as the first person greet you - very poor ambiance. The waitress herself was nice, however took quite a bit to get our wine and then no refill the water or the wine from the bottle we ordered. Food arrived cold. Def. not a high-end experience or a mom-pop-shop experience where it's a lot more warmer/welcoming."

  • "Three of us went to dinner. The food was outstanding (one of us is an Executive Chef for over 15 years). Each of us had a different entree and all three were VERY pleased with our choices. We had calamari for appetizer, it was wonderful. Our waiter, Nick was very good as well. Attentive, yet not intrusive. Good time had by all."

  • "I live in Fort Worth, so I am not too familiar with downtown Dallas. I organized a dinner party with some family members for a special occasion and chose the Palomino solely because it was close to the workplace of one member of the party. The prices were reasonable and the menu looked good, so I figured why not? The restaurant ended up being fantastic! The bar was packed with the after-work cocktails crowd, but there was plenty of room in the dining room. The decor is excellent, and the service is very friendly. We all enjoyed our food, but mine was the best dish of the night. The braised lamb shank is perhaps the best lamb I've had in a restaurant. This is fine dining without the price tag. I can't say enough good things about it."

  • "Food and service were superb. Chicken Under a Brick and the Flat Bread Pizzas are highly recommended."

  • "We hosted my assistant's birthday lunch and she loved it. Everyone chose the Talapia and it was cooked to perfection and seasoned just right. Looking forward to returning soon for dinner, so I can enjoy dessert!"

  • "It was refreshing to go to a restaurant which both has good food, and will freely and willingly make any reasonable substitution which is requested. I wanted the salmon, but did not care for the bean medley which was offered with it. The waiter gladly offered to trade it out for the much more appealing polenta, and it was a great match! It is a real pleasure to go to a "Non -Stuffy" restaurant in Dallas!"

  • "Dining room was fairly empty at 9pm. Waitress was friendly and service was adequate. Couple of things were disappointing though. Watched our main course sit under a heat lamp for almost 10 minutes while we were waiting. Servers were too involved in prep work. Saw one server repeatedly stop through food line and grab food and eat it! At one point he was licking his fingers and then grabbed a stack of plates! I like the food here. It was good, but for their business to be as slow as it was I would of expected better attention. The way we were seated to the proximity of the kitchen allowed us to see almost everything. I would think they would be a little more conscious of their behavior or maybe they just don't care."

  • "Palomino is always a solid choice for entertaining clients and for enjoying a celebration without going over the top. It's a great value, always reliable."

  • "Proximity to the central business district makes this an excellent choice. The food and service were excellent."

  • ""Let's have a Kiki, I wanna have a Kiki, lock the doors tight" but I want to do it a Palomino. I just LOVE Palomino since I discovered it in Minneapolis 20 years ago. It's a great place for friends to gather and kiki, a great place to purpose to you girl or guy, and you eat there alone and not feel isolated. I also love the openess of the resturant but you won't hear a lot of loud chatter, the food is INCREDIBLE, great wine, great Mojato's (I'll have anotha) and awesome service staff. Just maybe need to up their dessert game, although the Tiaramisu is excellent. For the atmosphere, food, service, and area it's the best kept secret in Dallas for lunch and dinner. Oh and the CHOP CHOP Salad is the staple for the resturant is a MUST HAVE!!!"

  • "Tried the salad topped with the salmon, which was great addition. I can also recommend the hummus, which is fresh and chock full of the very healthy spice, cumun ! I will be back!"

  • "I always start with the Maytag wedge with the toasted hazelnuts. This visit, I tried the lamb shank but, wish I had split the entree it was so large. As always, I ask for Jeffry. He is exceptional."
