A word from Palmyra
Palmyra, named after the ancient city in Syria opened in the Lower Haight & serves authentic Syrian-style cuisine in a friendly, cozy environment. Our upscale décor & great value are a reason to come in, & our home-style Middle Eastern food will give you reason to return again & again. When you dine with us, we always treat you like you’re a part of the family. Our food is fresh Syrian home cooking made by hand every day. Come see why our customers say we’re the best kebab house in town. The grilled lamb kebab, along with our Mediterranean-spiced rotisserie chicken served with warm pillowy pita bread & smooth, house-made garlic sauce, are reasons enough to visit Palmyra. Add in our savory tahini-laced hummus & our popular falafel & dolmas & you’ve got a delicious Mediterranean feast. Our portions are generous & we offer many healthy options for vegetarians.

  • Not good for a date

Went here on a double-date. Big mistake - although we all got a good laugh out of it. The ambiance isn't that nice - which is a shame because the food is actually pretty good. They also had a very limited selection of alcohol. A few wines and beers - that's it.

  • Palmyra - A two-fer

I call it a two-fer because it was both first and last visit.! Service and food were awful. It was dirty and disorganized.

  • Fast take-out Middle Eastern food

We were warmly welcomed by the proprietor. Although both propietor and the service staff were eager to please, Palmyra is not a restaurant, it is more like a cafe. There is no no doubt, the food is authentic and delicious Syrian/Middle Eastern cuisine. However, if you are looking for "fine dining", this is not the right place. Palmyra is extremely casual befitting students who are on the run and are looking for a fast take out. That said, they are very fast and efficient taking care of their take out orders, but they almost forgot us sitting and waiting for our order to arrive.

  • Good for Take Out

Mediterranean food done ok -- seems like a better place for take out -- I was surprised given the high ratings on yelp -- good kibbee and rotisserie chicken. taboulleh was just ok -- parsley not chopped finely enough and cucumbers used as filler. bland hummus. very hectic as there was a loud birthday party going on - likely family of the owner, as they brought in food from the outside. may give it another try sometime for take out.
