  • "Eat here all the time and never disappoints. A little bit of heaven in Hermosa."

  • "We've been here twice and both times it was really good and the best Mexican I've ever had. Had crab enchiladas the first time which were so good I nearly had them again but I was drawn to the slow cooked pork carnitas which was so good. The pork had a smokey crunch external and melt in the mouth middle. It is a little pricey though, 2 cocktails, 2 mains and a guacamole was $120 and we had a cheaper main. But it's really very good :)"

  • "I can't believe I didn't know of this restaurant until just recently! Four of us dine frequently (once a week), locally , but sometimes into L.A. Which I love! We will definitely be back here!"

  • "Great service! Great food. The homemade warm tortillas are out if this world. And the margaritas... Definitely too small but so so good!"

  • "From the moment we sat down we were taken back by the ambiance and decor... So nice to get away from the gross bars next door and step into a quiet, clean, and beautiful space. The food was delicious every item we ordered had so much flavor and now we know why our friends LOVE this place. We can't wait to go back! Whatever they're doing there is right, keep it up."

  • "The food was really great, not awesome. Both my husband and I felt the meat could be seasoned just a tad more. He had carnitas and I had asada. However, the fresh tortillas, salsa and honey butter were a nice touch to the traditional chips and salsa opener. The best part of the meal was the Don Julio Blanco margaritas, and the dessert they brought out for our anniversary. I would definitely go back here just to try something different next time"

  • "Great place! Yummy food, good drinks. Best tortillas ever! Fun young servers, yet all very professional and attentive!"

  • "The food was wonderful so much sometimes I think I am in Mexico. Not to mention the best margaritas in South Bay hands down!"

  • "Great lunch spot! Great mexican food and people watching! My daughter had the chile rellenos and salad combo - healthy rellenos - not deep fried so a healthier option with the salad. I had the rellenos (fried on the combo plate) with the chicken taco, rice and beans - it was delicious! Not to mention the yummy fresh tortillas with honey butter and fresh salsas! Topped if off with a delicious Paloma Fizz for a very enjoyable and relaxing lunch. This is my new "go to" lunch place for mexican food!! I always thought it was more expensive then what I would normally spend for lunch - but it's not! Only downside - always (dinner too) not enough wait staff - they try hard but have too much to do especially delivering all the drinks too."

  • "It is a definite go to whenever we are in the area. Servers change frequently. They've had many great servers and some that are so so. The Pepino Diablo is a must!!!"

  • "by far one of the worst service I have ever received from a restaurant.."

  • "It's impossible to be unhappy sitting near the ocean in Hermosa Beach. This place has a great vibe and the people are really nice. Unfortunately we found the food was only so-so. It isn't bad, and the place is fun, so by all means go if you're in the area, but set your expectations accordingly."

  • "I was there with a friend for drinks and appetizers - we didn't try any of the entrees - just two of the appetizers - both were quite tasty and too filling - we took most of the nachos home with us. Home made tortillas were fantastic especially with honey butter. Sat out on the very pleasant patio and lingered for three hours. I'm not much of a margarita fan so I enjoyed two different good white wines and my friend loved her mango margaritas. Would be nice to see happy hour offerings if possible but I do plan to go back for dinner sometime. Always looking for a good restaurant to take my brother when he's in the area, and he is vegetarian (fish okay) and it looked like plenty of choices for him."

  • "Palmilla is a great find; the menu doesn't overwhelm one with choices - instead, a list of good choices. The wait-staff was outstanding, very attentive without being overbearing. Truly worth the visit"

  • "We celebrated our anniversary here and the food was great. Always have the fresh tortilla and salsas. Margaritas are spicy and tasty. Service is very attentive , warm, and friendly. We were first seated in too tight of a booth for our foursome but the staff quickly accommodated us to a larger table. The restaurant honored our special night with a complimentary entree and dessert. Just a big bonus for a great restaurant."

  • "made a reservation to celebrate my anniversary w/my boyfriend after a girlfriend took me here for my bday. my reservation indicated i was there for a celebration and requested outdoor seating. upon arrival we were escorted to the last booth in the back. we reminded the hostess of the request, we and were "accommodated" in the cramped window seat. if you aren't part of the "sexy beach crowd" expect to be treated as less than if you decide to eat here. i ordered an appetizer that was to be accompanied by plantain chips. by the time i received the chips i was almost done with the appetizer and they tasted like cardboard. our waiter gave us our check without asking us if we wanted anything else, much less dessert. i regret the decision."

  • "The menu has intriguing choices and the food in general was pretty good with items you don't always see on Mexican menus. Nice choice of dips came with good flour tortillas. Corn tortillas though took ages to arrive, however, they were good and hot when they finally came. Very noisy. We were seated next to a service table and the Bar, which added to the noise level. A light under our table kept going out, then back on. Would like to try them when the weather is warmer and we can eat outside. Nice service staff. The fried ice cream was yummy."

  • "The shrimp in the Mariscos Veracruzana was over cooked - chewy. IThe sauce was very good. I didn't care for the texture of the pureed black beans no seasonings, no salt. The lime cilantro rice initially had some flavor but the citrus over powered and no salt. My husband got a burrito especial. The chicken in the burrito was very dry and the chicken itself had no seasoning, not even salt. I don't know if they are thinking that with the sauces on these plates it would somehow provide taste but even sauces need salt to bring and enhance the flavors. Meats should always be seasoned regardless of any pending sauces. Unfortunately the homemade tortillas were undercooked, both orders of tortillas that came with dinner were undercooked."

  • "Our group had the 3 Cerviche, Guacamole, Carne Asada, Fish tacos and the Grilled Chicken along with a pitcher of the house margaritas. Of these the Guac was good but nothing special. Everything else that we tried was spectacular. I especially liked the build your own taco with the fish tacos. Instead of serving a basket of chips with salsa, 3 warm tortillas with salsa and honey butter are served when you sit down. Nice change from other mex restaurants. It is noisy inside so if you are looking for a quiet place, this isnt it. "

  • "A must do dinner for out of towners! Great tasting food for discerning tastes with nice presentation. The ambience was a pleasant surprise. I really liked the decor, as it was unique. Our waiter was knowledgeable, very helpful, and the staff is eye candy for the ladies. I will definitely visit again when I'm in the LA area."

  • "I brought my GF for Valentines dinner the day after and it was busy. Made reservation and was seated soon after we arrived. It is very crowded for dinner which made it uncomfortable. We were seated in middle tables with people walking back and forth on both our sides. My GF loved the appetizers the entrees. I would recommend this place for a nice (not the usual) Mexican dinner. She Loved it and would go back as well."

  • "Split one order of fajitas on a Friday at lunch around 2pm and it took 45 minutes to get the food. Just went there again a week later, for Saturday night dinner at 9:30....same experience. Had 2 different waiters, and the buss boy brought me my food and drinks. They were definitely NOT that busy. Same experience-2x in one week. Food is great, the kitchen is just EXTREMELY slow. And...how am I supposed to give my waiter a tip when I don't even know who my waiter is?"

  • "I loved the food, the costa del sol sangria was delicious and although we sat in the sun it didn't dampen the experience as I was sitting in a comfy bench like seating next to my love and we had an amazing meal."

  • "The atmosphere is so beautiful I almost just wanted to sit there and stare at the walls - in a good way! I love the energy, feel and vibe of this place - really great. The pitchers of margaritas were amazing, food - completely yummy, service - very good. Although I don't think I've ever seen as much bare-chests on men, besides at the beach, as I did this past weekend. Not that I'm complaining, something for the ladies out there finally, but it was a bit comical. Great place for dinner without the drive, loved it."

  • "When we arrived they told us they had no table for us. Offered us a seat at the bar. If my friend wasn't in a time-crunch I would've left. The hostess offered us a free drink for the inconvenience but we weren't drinking that night. I feel she should've offered a free app. Instead of a booth or table in the back, we were crammed in the bar area.. A totally different experience than I had hoped for. The waiter redeemed my experience with his prompt and sweet demeanor. However, not sure I'll be back when I need a dinner Rez. Not cool."

  • "We ordered drinks and were served home made flour and corn tortillas. They were both excellent and the salsa was fresh and tasty. We tried the 'Civiche Tres Maneras' as an appetizer. Our order of swordfish fajitas was served hot and accompanied by beans and rice. I would not order this again as I thought it overpriced and not a good value. 'Mole Blanco Enchiladas' ere flavorful but not very hardy. The drinks were OK. My wife said she didn't feel her drink. Overall, the food was good but not spectacular. The drinks were hit and miss. I might go back, but 'El Cholo' serves a better drink and their food is better too."

  • "We went to Palmilla specifically to try their fish tacos which I had been told were "the best anywhere". We agreed they are exceptional. Tortillas are made on site daily and served hot with salsas and honey butter. Tacos come deconstructed with grilled mahi mahi and accompaniments such as chipotle crema, garlic mojo, more fresh tortillas, black beans, and tomatillo rice. We also had Palmilla's queso fundido. It, too, was delicious. I cannot eat wheat, and our waiter took care I always had corn tortillas, which it appears are on request only. The restaurant includes a popular bar; it becomes very noisy once the bar crowd moves in, making conversation difficult."
