Diner Reviews
  • "Great food but tables were cramped and service was mediocre. Disappointing considering the expectations and knowledge of the area."

  • "Lunch with a special friend craving a spring experience - food exceeded expectations in every way - garden filled with flowers transported us away from the blustery day - service was great and we were comfortable and welcomed sitting and visiting for quite a long time. I will return soon"

  • "We had four dishes, and 3 out of 4 were excellent. The crispy artichokes were worth the visit alone. The artichoke hearts were soft and creamy and the leaves were crispy without being greasy. The Cauliflower Palma was oddly bland. It's a namesake dish, and the description sounds fantastic, but it just didn't deliver. The Spinach Agnolotti was also to die for. Creamy, flavorful insides with delicious tomato sauce. The Pappardella was also excellent. The pasta was so fresh and the combination of tomato sauce and lamb delicious. Service was spotty. We were left for 15 minutes when we sat down without anyone coming. We were served our food promptly, but there was no hope of flagging anyone down for something."

  • "Started with artichokes which perfectly seasoned. The fish stew is off the charts. My friend had the gnocchi which was also very good… Best cappuccino I've had in the city. Gem of a place."

  • "The pasta was homemade and top-notch. I had the mushroom gnocchi, and my husband had the pasta special with prawns. Both dishes were very good. The fried artichokes were spot-on as well! Yum. Definitely will go back on our next trip to the city."

  • "Extraordinary cauliflower, linguini with crab, tiramisu all served graciously in a sweet protected rear garden"

  • "We were delighted by our meal at Palma, which I chose because we went to a play nearby. The food was delicious and they have an excellent Italian wine list with some fascinating and delicious selections that one rarely sees? From the burrata with caponata to the buffalo ricotta cheesecake, the excellence of the ingredients and careful preparation was apparent. Service was friendly and accommodating, even sliding a spare table over to handle our wine and serving dishes once the crowd subsided a bit. Although it was a cold night and the garden was enclosed, I imagine it is a great spot in the summer. From what I could see of the carriage house, it will go on my list of spaces for private group dining."

  • "My husband and I so enjoyed Palma. The food was amazing and I really appreciated the many vegetarian options The cauliflower was amazing as was the eggplant. The owner took the time to talk with us and the staff was very welcoming. and made sure everything we ordered was as we ordered it. The garden room is beautiful. Almost like an indoor botanical gardens. We look forward to returning with friends, so that we can order more of variety and share."

  • "Palma is an adorable restaurant in the West Village with an outdoor garden area in the back. When we went, they were hosting a bridal shower in the garden so we sat in the front. The brunch was AMAZING! The french toast was some of the best I've ever had!"

  • "fun place, tasty food, excellent service, will go back definitely again especially in the summer to enjoy the garden dining area."

  • "I went to palma with some out of town guests and once again it was a terrific experience. We sat in the garden room which makes you feel like you are in Tuscany! Food and service were out of this world and drinks were great, try the flor di lis if you like cosmos the gluten free homemade raviolis, they were outstanding, gluten free or not! fried artichoke appetizer also a winner"

  • "Dinner was excellent, the only thing we did not enjoy was the feeling that the staff wanted our table free as soon as possible, bacause the restaurant had a long waiting line.. Every time they asked if we needed something else etc..and kept serving wine, even though our glasses were full!! And we were sitting for less than a hour!!"
    Dined on 3/20/2014
  • "The covered garden in the back is truly lovely. Food amazing, and the personal service is excellent. I cannot say enough about this restaurant."

  • "My all time FAV NYC spot....never has once been disappointing!"

  • "I can only say very good things about dining at Palma. The hospitality from entering the restaurant and the service all the way through the meal was fantastic. The cocktail I had, La Vie en Rose was so tasty that I called back to Palma the next day to get the recipe and the bartender wasn't there yet so they took my name and number and actually called me back! I made this drink for my friends and they loved it. The menu selections were very good, maybe could use another choice or two, but then the specials were excellent too and rounded out the menu. Our meals and appetizers came out within reasonable time and were delicious--we ate every bite. The beer and wine selections were very good as well. Wish I lived in the city to go back!"

  • "The garden patio in back is absolutely charming, white roses, sweet pea, gardenia spilling out of pots and vases. Party of two went for brunch (eggs benedict; and french toast) but also ordered two small plates (cauliflower; and arancini) just because the menu was so tempting. Delicious."

  • "The food was top notch; delicious tasting, ample portions and handsome presentation and the service was notably helpful and friendly but definitely not intrusive. We loved the food and the entire experience!"

  • "The restaurant is very cute. Space is tight though. Menu is limited and felt that the food was overpriced for what it is. The private party space in the carriage house is great and I would come back if I needed space to host a dinner party."

  • "Palma is a restaurant we return to because of the consistently great food and accommodating, but unobtrusive service. We sat in the lovely back room and had a nice table where we could enjoy conversation. The flowers at Palma are always beautiful. The people who work there are welcoming and friendly."

  • "A friend recommended Palma to me because I am a huge fan of Zuppa de Pesce. She said the one at Palma was not to be missed. I was not disappointed! The presentation of this dish was like none other I'd ever seen and it tasted fantastic. Everything we ordered was amazing, from the cornish hen to the branzino to the pastas. This place is definitely a neighborhood gem and so adorable. Its great for any occasion: bringing your parents to dinner, a date or a group dinner. The front room is small and intimate and the back room is gorgeous with flowers and twinkly lights. I would recommend this restaurant to everyone!"

  • "But adding kale to each dish doesn't necessarily make it better. The oysters Rockefeller dish might have been tastier without the kale. Overall an excellent and well executed menu."

  • "I have to say the service and decor were great. Are waitress was super nice and the ambiance was amazing. The drinks were also great. However the main was at best good. I had the special which unfortunately was bland. My girlfriend had the fish which was to salty."
    Dined on 2/23/2014
  • "I have never been more impressed with the magnificent ambience and the even more delicious food. The flavor jumped off the plate and into your palate like a playful and energetic show. The drinks were beautifully and artistically crafted as well as the delightful service. I will be returning very soon to this west village gem."

  • "The ambiance in the outdoor garden is incredible, with the lights twinkling down on you and the flowers surrounding you as you savor each heavenly bite. The gnocchi sorrentino has been a staple of my Palma visits for quite sometime. Needless to say I was crushed when they removed it from the menu. However, upon inquiry, they happily offered to prepare it for me anyway! SO happy my favorite dish isn't lost forever! The fresh flavors and ideal consistency combine to create perfection for your palette. I have never tasted better (and I lived in Italy for a summer). The service is impeccable and if you are a loyal patron you will discover the extent of their generosity. Palma is a New York treasure that I am so grateful to have discovered!"

  • "Our whole experience at Palma was amazing. We went for brunch on a Sunday and we were able to sit in the back garden, which is heated for the winter. It was like eating in a romantic green house with flowers everywhere and a glass roof. The food was delicious! I had the french toast and it was the best french toast I have ever had. The rest of my family had a mixture of breakfast and lunch, all saying it was delicious. Would gladly go back to Palma!"

  • "This restaurant is everything you hope to find in authenticity. Located on a picturesque block in the West Village, it is hidden away from the madness. the food is warm and delicious and their gluten free options are wonderful alternatives. All in all a true favorite!"

  • "The food was OK not amazing it didn't make me feel like I wanted to come back the next day. For the money I was paying the food could of been better."

  • "Palma is a charming, cozy restaurant, tucked into the little Cornelia Street. From the outside it may not make much of an impression, but what lies inside is just great: excellent food, very good service, and a welcoming vibe/atmosphere. Would definitely recommend to friends or family, and I will be back soon."

  • "A quaint little place and a welcome change from the more corporate modern dining establishments of mid town. It's major plus point is the very helpful, friendly but discreet staff who could not have looked after us better. The menu was not extensive but that is not a criticism just something to be aware of. I had goats cheese and beet salad to start but there was very little evidence of goats cheese and the beets were rather bland and in my opinion slightly over cooked . I followed this with fish which was served on a bed of vegetables. This was perfectly adequate but again rather disappointing as it lacked any flavour to speak of. Overall its a nice place with bland food. With more imagination in the kitchen this place has great potential!"

  • "Overall enjoyed our dinner. However, it seems that the pasta dishes are far superior to the other items on menu. My Gnocchi was excellent, but my husband's Zuppa DiPesce was just fair. From our experience I'd say stick with the pasta dishes."

  • "Took my boyfriend here for his birthday. They were gonna seat us by the door... Then noticed my request on open table to not be seated there. We were promptly moved to the garden where the romance and wonderful meal began. Good service, good food, great atmosphere--- and in the winter! The outdoor space is lovely."

  • "Good spot for a first date or a date in general. If come here for a intimate meal with friends as well. Good food, great ambiance, decent service, great neighborhood and reasonably priced. One gripe: at the end of the meal we wanted some Grapa. The waiter provided us with a list of about 5-7 choices. I don't know much about Grapa so I asked the waiter to pick one he felt was reasonable. Obviously he picked the highest priced one that was around $30 per glass. Now, don't get me wrong I understand what he did but I didn't appreciate it. Our bill for 2 went from $170 to $230 in a instant. Aside from that very minor service related incident I would highly recommend Palma for its great good and ambiance and will be returning."

  • "Palma is, hands down, one of the best restaurants in NYC. The food is authentic Italian, with fresh pasta and everything else you'd expect. Beyond the food the service is incredible. They're welcoming, attentive, and polite. They also pay attention to details. For example, when setting a table on their patio I watched a waiter sit down at every place setting to ensure there was enough room for for the guest: the nearby plants weren't in the way, the table didn't wobble, there was room for the chair to be pulled out when sitting and standing. The price is more than reasonable given the quality of food and service. I return to this restaurant whenever I can."

  • "A great hidden spot that is all about great Italian dining and no useless flash. The fresh handmade pastas and great service are common place here. Friendly, memorable and delicious."

  • "This has become a reliable Italian restaurant with a foot in both old and new school cuisine and presentation. Hearty portions, nice staff. Salad, pasta, and fish have been my choices and have not been disappointed. Try asking for a table in the pretty back room; a bit quieter and less drafty in the winter."
