Diner Reviews
  • "Three friends and I met for brunch on a Saturday afternoon. Two from West chester County, one from South Jersey and me Nassau County. The restaurant was accessible; quick subway ride from Penn Station and a short walk to the quaint spot. The staff were friendly and accommodating - not rushing us as we talked before and after ordering and receiving our meals. The flowers which adorned the space were beautiful as we sat in the garden area. The food was delicious and served hot. All four suburban ladies enjoyed a delightful day in the City. We will be back and are considering to host a reunion with more friends."

  • "I've been to Palma a few times for drinks but have never been able to eat there. I absolutely loved it. The good was exceptional. The service was perfect and Francesco made our experience a delight from start to finish."

  • "We were contacted prior to the reservation. We requested to change the time and the hostess was very accommodating. When we got there, we were seated in the front. Minutes later, I decided to venture into the rear of the restaurant where I found the open terrace section and an empty table for which I inquired. I was given the table provided we could be finished in two hours. I agreed and we relocated. The open terrace made the evening much more special. The service was impeccable. The food succulent. Wine list was spot on. Overall, it was an experience worth having again. We certainly will plan to do so in the future. Thank you, Palma."

  • "The food was delicious but the volume in the restaurant was unbearable. The bartender was such an enthusiastic shaker that I thought in the lull that she was performing in a street band."

  • "Excellent Italian food in lovely dining rooms including the open-roof garden room."

  • "Really enjoyed this restaurant. Great spot in the village, excellent service and the food was great. I had the pappardelle with lamb in a really great sauce. They also diced up calamata olives that I don't care for and thought they were unnecessary. Great apps and a good wine list. Would go back."

  • "While the servers were plesant, they clearly were out of their element. A Male server at lunch continually reached across the table with his right hand to serve and pour water sticking his arm across my face and within inches. All he had to do was take one step to the right to pour to my right. He leaned across table numerous times when he should have served from behind or from the side. No one was at the tables to the front, back, left or right. Lazy, untrained service! Garden is nice, food good but we wouldn't return."

  • "I love the ambiance, the abundance of flowers, and the overall rustic European feel. The service was excellent, the space was comfortable, and the food was delicious with a lovely presentation. Not your typical restaurant! It is on the top of my list of restaurants in NYC."

  • "We had a wonderful dinner at Palma. Ambiance in the garden was amazing and our appetizers and main dishes were all delicious. Especially loved the gnocchi and cavolifiore palma dishes. Highly recommend!!"

  • "Palma was fantastic! The food was out of this world. Mixed drinks were delicious. My request for outdoor seating was not honored (made reservation with request several weeks prior). They apologized and gave us a window seat which was nice. The table service was excellent."

  • "Perfect, Perfect evening. We had a drink at the wine bar next door............(such a romantic spot). Then we ate it the beautiful garden. It was enchanting. Food was top notch. Loved every course. I would go there again and again. Will recommend to everyone."

  • "Went for brunch with a few girlfriends and we had a great time. Highly recommend sitting in the garden!"

  • "The menu looked rather interesting and was the reason we went there, but I'm afraid the food and service was less than optimal. Fettuccini was all clumped together, but the sauce was good. The steak was bland, and the salad was not terribly noteworthy. I could have made either meal, and I am a terrible cook. Also, there were so many people waiting on our table for one reason or another, that I didn't know who was our main service person. One person brought bread, two brought water, three arranged our seating and I think the waiter himself had a very strange assortment of tables under his management, which prevented him from checking on us from time to time."

  • "I was looking for a place to take my out of state friends for brunch and I'm glad I found Palma! Staff is attentive, food is great, and the garden outside is beautiful. I shared half of my pancetta eggs Benedict for half of my friend's salmon eggs Benedict. While both dishes were yummy, I'd probably order the salmon next time as I thought the pancetta was a little salty for my liking- but make no mistake, I thought everything was wonderful!"

  • "The pasta was delicious, however pasta should of been cooked another 2 mins. The calimari from the appetizer menu was flavored to perfection. The fish soup is definately was an east coast delicacy, unfortunately we are from the west coast."

  • "The garden is beautiful and enclosed so even on a rainy day it's great. The food is amazing. Had the black truffle fettuccine and the size was perfect not some massive bowl of pasta"

  • "While the ambiance of this restaurant on Cornelia is lovely, the customer service shown by both the chef and manager/owner was unacceptable. One of our brunch guests ordered "two eggs any style" and ordered scrambled eggs extremely cooked. While this may not be the way the chef would eat eggs, this was the request of our guest. The eggs were not cooked to order and sent back twice at which point we were told the chef would not cook them the way my guest wished. So, we returned the meal, she had no brunch. The coffee was also served lukewarm and the policy of the restaurant is to serve only regular milk, no cream and no skim milk. There is nothing more disappointing than a restaurant that puts itself and its hautiness above the customer."

  • "both appetizers were excellent, burrata and artichokes. Entrees not so good. The zuppa di pesce bakes with a bread crust, causing the seafood to overcook and the broth to remain super hot for at least a half hour. almost inedible. The gnocchi is made with cherry tomatoes and mozzarella had one cherry tomato and one small slice of mozzarella. the garden is nice (but we faced a service area where they were disposing of the dirty plates). service excellent to the point of hovering. will not return, too many better options nearby."

  • "I went to Palma for brunch on Saturday with 5 of my friends and the experience was perfect. We were seated right away, the staff was friendly and helpful, and the garden room is a picturesque localation. The food was outstanding. The brunch menu had several breakfast, lunch, and small plate options. We each had something a little different and everything was superb. Another perk was it's easy navigation from the subway. A quick 2 block walk was all it took. Couldn't recommend this place highly enough."

  • "This place was tiny, and they made sure to cram as many people in as they possible could. "Energetic" noise level? LOL.. no. I pulled out a decibel meter app on my phone, that rated it louder than an average subway. Conversation was nearly impossible without shouting. Food was very slow to come out, and pretty meh. The Arancini balls were the only standouts. Eggplant Parm was decent, but the spinach/mozzarella ravioli were watery and seriously overcooked.. the pasta was basically mush. :( Service was decent enough. Fairly disappointing experience considering all the glowing reviews."

  • "Working my way through Zagot's 10 best alfresco dining in NYC and looking for a romantic date place. Food was average, my date's entree came out cold.. and the most irritating aspect of our dining experience was constant requests to clear our plates. (App & entree) even though not finished and fork still in hand.."

  • "A gem that all types of foodies must experience. This restaurant has added a special touch to each dish even after it has been carefully prepared. Every item on the menu is farm fresh, homemade and has unbelievable flavor. The fettuccine al fungi lis by far the best I have ever tasted. I can't wait to go back!"

  • "We were won over the second we stepped into the charming interior garden. In this lovely setting we might not have even noticed the quality of the food--if it hadn't been so delicious. The fish stew and cauliflower appetizer were amazing; a goat cheese ravioli with roasted tomato sauce passed muster with my companion, an excellent cook and food snob. Fresh and lively roasted beet salad. There's an excellent and varied wine list, reasonably priced. The service was friendly and professional. Highly recommended."

  • "This was an amazing meal and every part of it was perfect. Beautiful and romantic with friendly attentive service. Our dinner started with tomatoes with burrata cheese wonderfully seasoned. I cannot remember the last time that I saw such beautiful tomatoes. One of our foursome who was not a tomato person became one. A roasted cauliflower dish was also a wonderful appetizer with flavors that I never would have imagined. The three pastas were all wonderful with obviously carefully handcrafted noodles, but I thought that the star entree was my Zuppe de Pesce (Fish stew) topped with a beatiful pastry crust for an incedible presentation. The presentation was only surpassed by the wonderful collection of sea food and delectable broth."

  • "I have eaten here several times and it is one of my favorite places in NYC. It is just a lovely combination of charming ambience and amazing food. I had a wonderful fresh garden salad with heirloom tomato and then their stunning zuppa de pesce which is served under a dome of thank and crispy baked flatbread. Love it!!!"

  • "I took my family here to celebrate my Mother's birthday and the entire evening was perfect. Patrick, our server, was fantastic (along with the entire staff) and the food & ambiance were terrific. A great restaurant in one of my favorite areas of NYC. I will certainly be going back very soon."

  • "We went there for a pre-theater, early dinner. We were the first to arrive for the dinner service and by the time we left the place was crowded. Excellent service, good food. A good selection of wine - the server recommended a sparkling red (something I'd never tried before) and it was an excellent choice for a warm, spring day. I would definitely go there again."

  • "I had been to Palma a couple of times before for brunch, and sat in the garden, which was lovely! This time however, the garden was closed, and we went right at noon for lunch. We were the first people there so it was empty and very quiet - not much atmosphere, but the food was still great! I'd definitely go back, just making sure it was later for lunch or brunch! I haven't tried dinner there yet.."

  • " We had a wonderful evening here a week ago, when my wife and I were in from MN and having dinner with our son. Palma is a charming , family run place , that, in my mind, is just what you'd like to find in The Village. While the front room and cozy bar, are intimate, on this evening, open windows looking out on Cornelia Street helped add to the ambiance. They also have a delightful open courtyard for dining as well as a carriage house which will accommodate larger parties Food was very good, with excellent appetizers, and seafood entrees. Pasta dish was ordinary, but good. Good selections of wine, reasonably priced. Professional, friendly, and excellent service made us feel welcome, even though the restaurant was full and buzzing."
