We had such a good time with Chuck, our server, that he actually gave me a hug when we got up to leave. Whether you are celebrating a new job or just want to come in for a good meal it hits the spot. This is not an intimate place, especially on weekends as they are very busy but there's an excitment about it that makes it fun and not a nusiance. The waiters are great - they know their restaurant and provide good advice on what to choose. The steaks are always cooked exactly the way you ask. The wine list is extensive but the waiter can always help you decide. The food was great, although pretty pricy. Our steaks were cooked perfectly and the french fries were some of the best I have ever had. I would recommend splitting because even the petite filet was enough for two. We were so full by the time dessert came around that we got a piece of carrot cake to go...so glad we did, It was by far the best carrot cake I have ever put in my mouth! I hope they sell it by the whole cake because if so, that is the cake I will be getting for my birthday every year! It was cooked medium-rare as ordered, but it did not have the somewhat "nutty" flavor that I have come to associate with a well-aged steak. Frankly, it tasted as if it could have come from the meat section of any large supermarket. Certainly not what I expected from a $46 piece of meat. The DC Palm can be a little energetic due to large size. The side dishes are great and lead to delicious leftovers. However, it will not be their choice in the future. The food was excellent, but the salmon sat alone on a very large white plate without so much as a sprig of parsley to create visual interest. The fillet mignon suffered a similar fate. The sea bass fared slightly better as it was on top of corn. The food we had was extremely well prepared but very high priced and visually uninteresting. The service was also good. I had requested that I wanted a booth since it was my birthday. The host was prepared for arrival and seated us promptly. He left a birthday card from the restaurant that signed by the staff on the table when he seated us. The waiter was very attentive to our needs, even though he was serving a large party next to us.
