Diner Reviews
  • "Excellent steaks and lobster. I always heard the veal parmagian at Palm was great - but was somehow a bit disappointed.....otherwise a great meal there."

  • "Normally The Palm is almost intolerably noisy but this time it was tamed down a bit so we could enjoy our conversation without having to shout at one another. It's a shame the noise level all too frequently ruins what otherwise would be a great meal. But this time it was better. Thank you."

  • "My wife and I received a gift card to the Palms for a Christmas present from our son. We saved it because we wanted to use it on a day in which the weather was going to be nice. We arrived at the Palms just as they opened and we were seated in front of the big bay window. Nice view of the local area. The service and atmosphere was terrific. The food was a little expensive but really delicious."

  • "Very unusual resturant with all the Characturie Prints on the wall. Seated very promptly on arriving. Service was excellent and the food was absolutely devine. I also liked that the you had the option of individual or family size sides, considering the steak itself is always just enough for me, but my husband likes some sides. The restaurant had a great buzz and there were several Birthdays being celebarated, and the waiters sing to the person celebrating, very entertaining. Would highly recommend this restaurant for anyone who loves Steak and Lobster."

  • "The Palm never disappoints. The meal and service were outstanding again."
    Dined on 4/6/2014
  • "I recently dined with an old friend and colleague. The food and drink are superb. I had the best mojito ever. The bone-in ribeye was a great piece of beef perfectly cooked. The sea bass was similarly fine--a great piece of fish beautifully cooked. Desserts are worth it, even for people on diets. Sadly, the noise made the experience uncomfortable. I would pay any price to have superior dining in a quiet environment."

  • "Love the palm! The food is consistently excellent, from the sides to the salads to the steak and seafood entrees. The service is also exceptionally good. This is a go-to for any occasion."

  • "We truly enjoyed our lunch at Palm restaurant - We were a group of 9 and were seated in a nice round table which allowed great conversation. Most of us ordered the filet mignon and was cooked to our liking - also, everyone thought it was a generous amount. The restaurant['s atmosphere is interesting and unique. The service was excellent from the front desk throughout the entire meal."

  • "Very disappointed in the food. The lamb was extremely fatty and the bone in filet was fatty with very little meat. The French fries were soggy and I've had better at Wendys. The service and our server was outstanding however. If the food was as good as the service, we'd have no complaints."

  • "Always good food. Lobster always good. Just not spectacular."

  • "If you're conscience about cholesterol, demand unctuous service, and prefer food that comes in the form of foam bubbles of intense flavor, the Palm will be a disappointment. The red meat here is generous, preferably medium rare, chewy, as it's meant to be, and served by a waitstaff that will tease you. The sides are also generous, so share with your party, it's ala carte anyway. The wine selections are extensive, can be expensive, but your waiter can steer you into something reasonable, that works well. The walls are decorated with cartoon-like characterizations of frequent dinners and political notables. I'm thinking of asking management if my cremated remains could be placed on shelving here, for patrons who wish to remain forever."

  • "A political who's who every lunch hour, combined with great food, a lively scene and a fun after work bar, the Palm is a true DC power spot."

  • "Had a wonderful meal. Service was fantastic. Had 6:30 reservations and enjoyed the quiet setting, but it quickly filled up and became very loud. Just an FYI in case you are looking for a quiet dinner. Celebrated a recent engagement of friends and the wait staff did a great job enhancing dessert with "Going to the Chapel" song. It was terrific!"

  • "Excellent food...as usual.....one of my favourites for stakes in WDC"

  • "The Palm has fantastic steaks and seafood. I travel incessantly for business and eat in every major city. The Palm is consistently the best of the best And the DuPont Circle location has some of the best professional waitstaff anywhere. BTW, order the bone-in NY strip - it's the best anywhere! And ask to be seated in Cliff's section."

  • "Waiter was working three tables and groups. Not attentive to our table, do not like being treated like a tourist in my city. Flagged server and the assistant maître d showed up. Resolved all issues quickly, took our order, established sufficient priority with waiter. Waiter seemed unapologetic, but the service was steady, Not representative of my previous Palm experiences. Like the food, environment, may have hit it on an off night."

  • "Great food, but not as attentive as they once were, which is a shame given the amount of $$ you drop to eat there/"

  • "My wife and I dined at The Palm on my birthday, as we have done for many years. A special bonus is that if you are a member of its 837 Club and eat there a few times a year you are rewarded with a free 3 lb. lobster or nearly any other entrée of your choice. As usual, the food was delicious and the service impeccable. My wife and I shared the 3 lb. lobster and the 14 oz. filet mignon. Both were absolutely outstanding--the steak was very tender and flavorful and the lobster meat was tasty. The host, Tommy Jacamo, was on-duty and it was a pleasure to see him. We look forward to returning to The Palm soon."

  • "A very nice restaurant to be sure. We had reserved a table for four and our reservation was waiting for us when we arrived. The food and service was excellent. We will stop again on our next trip to DC."

  • "We stopped in for a company lunch and really appreciated the attentiveness of the wait staff that luckily didn't turn into crowding our already busy talkative table. Would definitely recommend for lunch and hope to try it for dinner soon!"

  • "Go here a lot. Food is consistently great. Make sure you have the donuts for desert!"
    Dined on 3/5/2014
  • "As always, the food is flawless, perhaps not overly imaginative, but perfect for what it is. The signature dishes, like Classic Caesar salad, cottage fries and fried onions, are the best of their kind. No pretense here at trendy or locovore fare, just a limited menu, done right, and all wrapped in a Washington institution."

  • "It's like home for the holidays. You're welcomed, schmoozed, teased, toasted and stuffed. If cushiony chairs were provided to sleep in after your meal, I wouldn't be surprised. The steaks and lobster were exactly as hoped for, the staff familiar, as an older brother might be. It's so nice to misbehave behind my cardiologist's back."

  • "I have been to the Palm many times. Always great service and food! The DC location is very tight space wise, but that is what adds to the atmosphere."

  • "hence I was surprised that they didn't time the entree's well. My guests were still finishing their starters when our lunch arrived. Otherwise, a good lunch."

  • "We booked a table as a surprise for my husband for our 5th anniversary. When I made the reservation on Open Table, I had noted that we would be celebrating this event. We were greeted by the hostess and right away the manager saw the noted reservation and took us back to a lovely private booth that had a card waiting which was signed by the entire staff serving that evening...what a lovely gesture to be greeted with! The service was impeccable. We had a wonderful waiter named Rubio who was very attentive and several servers that came by frequently to refill our water glasses, clear our dishes immediately, and tidy up the table between courses. They even came out at sang to us when they served our dessert! Far exceeded expectations!!"

  • "I took my husband to the Palm Restaurant for his birthday dinner. He loved it! He said it was one of the best steaks he had ever had, juicy and tender on the inside with the seared outside. For me the doughnuts for desert were a real treat. The Palm added the special touches which included a birthday card signed by the staff, a birthday song at desert time, and we sat at the front of the restaurant with an excellent view of the street. Just an overall wonderful experience and we will be back!"

  • "Great spot l, really good service. The table next to us had an obnoxiously loud woman, but otherwise the food and drinks and overall atmosphere was awesome. Definitely will be returning."

  • "Fantastic steak and very good seafood choices for my vegetarian companion."

  • "The service was absolutely incredible. My waiter was so genuine and engaging. I had a great time talking with him and he was very easily relatable. I can't wait to come back again. The steak was on another level if succulent. I had the filet mignon with lobster and my boyfriend had the 24 oz ribeye. We were both in heaven."

  • "Had a lovely time, service was amazing. Had the lobster and it was divine."

  • "The food and service blew my mind! The server was able to provide great history about the restaurant and offer some incredible suggestions off the menu. I highly recommend this dining experience to anyone. It is worth the cost!"

  • "We are lucky enough to receive gift cards for The Palm every Christmas, and we love going there. Our favorites are the lamb chops, and the shrimp cocktail. The service makes everything that much better. Save room for the bag of hot donuts!!!!"

  • "good service good food just be prepared for the prices $100++"

  • "The reputation of this restaurant, and it's notoriety from being on TV, must have built the place up to the point where they don't really try anymore. I had the steak, and my wife the seabass, both very nice quality cuts of meat but blandly prepared with little to no flavor at all. We also ordered the goat cheese mashed potatoes to share as our side and quite frankly I think Betty Crocker might have been back in the kitchen because they tasted like they came straight from a box. I wrongfully assumed that the expense of this restaurant would correlate to the quality of their food. Unfortuneayley we have had much better meals at your average chain steak houses than we had at the palm. What a shame."
