Got a good table at the right time. The service was attentive without being invasive. They were very accommodating when we asked to split one meal between our 2 children. Bottom line, it is a great place to visit. The service was excellent. The food was great and the portions large. However, at the end of the evening, the bill came to $214. I did not mind paying it, but on the way home, we kept thinking about all the other places we could have gone with multiple visits for the same cost. The reason I selected the Palm was primarily the excellent service and the quality of the food. (Not to mention that they are one of the very few restaurants that stock Blantons Bourbon at their bar). The seating was punctual and when an unexpected 5th person showed the restaurant did not wait for a request but rather immediatly seated us at a larger table. They try to be accomodating, the portions are generous without being absurd, the atmosphere makes me think of an exclusive men's club. Comfortable seating, a clientele that knows how to behave in a nice restaurant, and management that is always cordial and friendly without being intrusive. Not to mention that the food is good. The veal chop I had this time around was delicious - a bit more rare than the medium rare I ordered, but since I like rare as well, that was fine with me. Understandable considering that chop must have been 2 inches thick! The bar is a true old-world treat with hand poured martinis, great wine by the glass and superb lobster or steak sliders. This place is always hopping, and seats may be difficult to find.
The dining room is quite and relatively small, which gives the restaurant more of an exclusive ambiance where quite conversation is easy. The food (lobster and steak) was amazing.
