As a female hosting business meals, he makes the servers understand that I am the host and not my male counterpart. Special requests are no problem to any one at The Palm Tampa. The menu appears limited but on a closer look covers any dining request. Our waiter was Hugo and he went out of his way to make sure we were taken care of! The manager Mark and Paulo also stopped by to check on us. The Palm still believes in Exceptional Customer Service and Food and it showed during our dinning experience. It was the best Mother's Day meal my family has had! It was probably about 1 full star higher than my normal restaurant visits, and that may make me somewhat easily impressed, but still, I had a great steak, and I thought our server was exceptional as was the rest of the serving staff. We were there earlier in the evening, as we had plans for later, so it wasn't in the middle of the dining evening, but I was still thoroughly satisfied. I don't think that I could afford to eat there all the time, but I think I will have to work it into the rotation of special event visits. I used to live in NYC and have fond memories of the original...BUT, this is the first time I have ordered a lobster at the Tampa location. The menu described it as a 3 lb lobster, the waiter described it as a 3 lb lobster, IT WASN'T! ...We are from Maine and still summer there. We know lobsters!...The lobster I was served, nicely prepared and served, may have been 2 lbs but not one ounce more. Steak selection is a little limited for a place promoting itself as a steakhouse and the cuts were huge. Smallest cut of meat was a 9 oz filet. This is fine, but most other steakhouses in the area (e.g. Bern's or Shula's) over a wide selection of cuts and sizes. If you want a ribeye only selection is 24 oz, etc. so that was a little disappointing. That said, preparation of the steaks the group order was excellent. Fish is really good as well (at least the swordfish). Lacking a notable draft beer selection (only 2), but wine list was descent.
