Diner Reviews
  • "Annual Summertime treat = 5lb lobster for my husband! Spectacular! As long time fans, what we miss about older Palm Too menu options: 1. What happened to the terrific fresh, cold seafood salad entrée?"

  • "The service was awful. We waited 30 minutes for our beers, they delivered the wrong sized filets, so we had to wait for another steak to arrive, when we already waited 40 minutes just for the food to arrive. They never cleared our bread plates or wine glasses, and then we waited over 20 minutes for our check. Will never go back."

  • "The Palm is absolutely my favorite restaurant. The Staff, The Food, The Comfort. All Excellent.***** It's always a pleasure to dine there. Can't wait to dine there again."

  • "Dissapointing. Service was not up to the Palm standards. Lobster was great. Steak was tough"

  • "I am a long time Palm customer, and I was so disappointed from every level. Waitress- actual food. I had to ask about the 837 summer lobster special and my waitress had no idea. My 9oz filet looked like a 4oz and was not good at all. Fries with garlic and Parmasean cheese were so bland I had to ask to redo and even then had zero flavor . Daughter had crab cakes and they were good. Son had the bone in filet and actually said that Outback steak tasted better. Come on Palm, you have been in business too long and you need to get your act together or let Prime, Ruth Chris, Morton's have your customer list. You can't succeed on a name alone. Will be moving my business else where in NYC"

  • "The Palm is featuring its summer lobster special. We thoroughly enjoy this treat every year, usually at The Palm on 19th Street in Washington, DC. This year, we were in New York to celebrate our anniversary so we went to the Palm Too on 2nd Avenue. We were not disappointed. The food was wonderful, the service efficient and competent and the atmosphere welcoming. We would certainly return when we are in New York. After dinner, we hung out to watch the end of the World Cup match between U.S. and Portugal. If the U.S. had won, it would have been a perfect evening but you can't have everything--the restaurant was great!"

  • "Palm Too is great. A steak worth the money which is not insignificant but worth it. Service that is attentive in a vintage steak house surrounding. I love it. Whenever the family has a special occassion to celebrate we are there.........and also some occassions when there is nothing to celebrate."

  • "Palm Too had the most delicious soft shell crabs as their special dish for the day. We were indeed lucky to be there."

  • "I have been dining at the Palm for quite a few years now. While it might be on the pricy side I would call it worth the cost. This is the best steak I have ever had!!!"

  • "A great dining experience excellent food friendly waitstaff"

  • " Asked for round table days before received uncomfortable booth extended with wooden chairs. Was treated rudely by older man host said they had too many parties couldn't do better for me. Didn't I count.? We are LONG time clients! Celebrated my husbands birthday there a couple months ago for 14 people. Asked for a second bottle of Prosecco told they were all warm. The salad I had was mushy-lettuce must have been standing there all day- there was a fan blowing right on several peoples necks including mine- noise level was horrendous- was such a wait between salad and main course annoying Redeeming factors your service staff particularly the main waitress could not have been better."

  • "I tried Palm Two last week for lunch. There is an extensive lunch special menu which is a great deal. The filet mignon was outstanding. The restaurant was quiet and classy."

  • "The Palm Too is an outstanding restaurant where you go for steak and lobster. The tomato & mozzarella is the way to start."

  • "If you want great steak, gargantuan lobster and delicious sides, this is the place to go. One member of our party had swordfish. She loved it. The service was friendly and professional. Ambiance is a little tired."

  • "It is what it is- great steaks and lobsters, well-prepared veggies, sumptuous desserts and a thoroughly professional wait staff. They also pour a great drink. Maybe not trendy- and who needs it- but no surprises and their food has never been compromised over the years."

  • "Great restaurant, one of my favorite steakhouses in the city (and I've been to just about all of them). Very easy going and not stuffy at all. The service has always been friendly and the waitstaff is highly knowledgeable about both the menu, how the food is prepared and the wine list. In fact, I feel at ease asking for suggestions off the menu or the wine list and have not been steered wrong. The food is great - steak isn't undercooked, served perfectly. Portions are also quite hearty so you might want to pace yourself if you plan on having dessert (which I recommend as well). I arrived early and had a couple of drinks while waiting for the wife. The bartender was friendly and talkative. Easily my go-to steakhouse."

  • "After reading many mediocre reviews on various sites, I was a bit nervous about going for a surprise congratulatory celebration. The night was an unexpected delight! Not only was the food superb (we had the lobster as our main dish) the service was supreme! We will be back very soon! "

  • "We love the steaks, and the mushrooms were the best I've ever eaten. Oh yeah, and the best doughnuts, too!"
    Dined on 5/10/2014
  • "The excellent food and service draw us back to Palm Too! The Gigi salad needs to be shared and it is great the next day too if taken home. Tried the breaded asparagus for the first time. They are delicious! Our main courses were perfect as always."

  • "The food here is always wonderfully and perfectly cooked, as ordered. The service is quite good especially taking into account how busy they are most of the time. It is our favorite steak location on NYC, and says a lot. The lobster here is also quite good! Noise levels are high, but typical of popular NYC restaurants."

  • "Our party of 4 enjoyed our recent dinner at Palm Too. Two of us shared a 3 pound lobster and a 9 oz filet, with a side of potatoes, brussels sprouts and creamed spinach. Our dining companions had a larger steak and crab legs. The waiter was outstanding, pleasant and attentive but not overbearing, and gave us very good recommendations on the food and wine. The food was very good and was cooked perfectly to our orders but very expensive. At some point, if we have better luck in the stock market, we will return."

  • "My 3 lb NovaScotia lobster was great , but it is hard to crack and the servver could have taken greater pais to make it easier to crack. The salad, the wedge, was disappointing;ly small in terms of salad content. Finally the carrot cake was superb"

  • "Have been visiting various Palms around the country for two decades, and nothing has changed. Great waitstaff, excellent cocktails, wine and steaks. My usual is Clams Casino, Monday Night Salad, and a New York Strip with Asparagus. Never disappointed."

  • "While The Palm has diversified their menu, the stand-by's still impress i.e. steaks and lobster. Yet one would be remiss to skip the East Coast Gigi Salad, the varied veal/chicken options and of course the sides. While a Palm Too regular to be honest Sat night was a bit off from incorrect order delivery (ordered chicken martini provided veal, skimpy on the sun-dried tomatoes) to a petite order of Half&Half when supposed to be served family style all while dining with a friend whose had never been to The Palm. One off night does not make a trend and I have faith in the management and the restaurant. "

  • "Great creamed Spinach. No Rib Eye which is only steak we wanted. Wine was good but not served with any professionalism. Not worth the reputation or the price."

  • "I have been a customer of the Palm restaurants for over 30 years, and in the past 2-3 years they have deteriorated in quallity. The dining experience (including food quality, service, and ambience) isn't what it was. My family was served steaks which were poorly prepared and flavorless; a far cry from my previous experiences at any of the Palm's outposts. There any any number of steakhouses in NYC (Wofgang's, Ben & Jack's, Sparks, Bobby Van's, del Frisco's) which are now better than the Palm. It's sad to see a NYC institution on the skids."

  • "We love all The Palms. We had a wonderful, funny, old school waitress last night. The veal and chicken parmasean are outstanding. brussel sprouts are nicely charred, the special Luigi salad has everything in it., and the lobster bisque was delicious. the best is the big slab of chocolate layer cake-served stabbed with a huge knife! we were so comfortable in our booth we chatted with old friends for over 2 hours. cant wait to go back."

  • "If you want a perfectly cooked steak or salmon, this is the restaurant to dine, conveniently located in midtown east. Service is extremely attentive (Franco and Nick). It is my go-to place for a business lunch as well as dinner. Portions of food were more than ample and a variety of vegetable accompaniments are offered. Desserts (we had the cheesecake) are divine. There is also a complete list of wines/alcoholic beverages, but we were returning to work. Highly recommended for lunch and dinner."
