Palm Restaurant - CharlotteThe Perfect Anniversary SpotI took my wife to the Palm Restaurant on Saturday for our 11th Wedding Anniversary, and as always, it was an awesome experience. From the door to our seating, the staff was friendly, attentive, and prepared to wow us. Dinner was phenomenal, and the cocktails were hefty. We had early reservations (5pm) and were one of the first tables when they opened. My wife loves Lobster and we were told that they were out of Lobster and the delivery truck would not arrive until after 7pm. She was very disappointed !. The fish "special" suggested by the waitress was very good. I ordered (as I always do) the Filet Mignon which was very good. Not the best I've had but v. good.
Service was good. Cocktails as we ordered. The manager came to our table and apoligized for not having Lobster. She was very apologetic and sincere. This is the first time we were a little disappointed. Suggest you call ahead if you want Lobster.6/9/2013 12:00:00 AMAWESOMEI took my daughter there on the night she graduated. The reservation through Open Table went without a hitch, the food was terrific and really much more than enough. Our server Kendra, was excellent - very helpful and cheerful. I just expected a little more romantic setting. The hash browns remain one of the best on the planet and the asparagus fritti was excellent. We had a less than stellar waitress and the details lacked a little - I had my wife's lobster out of the shell before anyone showed up to offer to help. Best lobster in Charlotte and Italian like mama used to make. Joey and his staff always make us feel at home. Never forget the sad waiter we had there on 9/11/01 for lunch who cried for America and prayed with us for the elusive peace we all crave, we had Tony D'agastino as our waiter again and are so sad he will be leaving after being there for 4 and 1/2 great years. She is a very picky eater and she was able to choose a meal that was not on the menu, ie chicken fingers, pasta with Alfredo sauce, and a few other items. Our server was very attentive to our table and helped make our special occasion more special. The steaks were cooked as ordered and very tender. We knew it was going to be expensive but we under estimated the cost. The experience was better than I remember both food wise and service. We had an enjoyable meal and are looking forward to returning soon. My wife and I love The Palm and try to go at least once a quarter, but we thought it was a great opportunity to take our kids (9 and 11) as it was Mother's Day and a Sunday evening. Mom is in a wheelchair, and we had arranged for her accommodations via Open Table as part of the reservations. The food and atmosphere, as always at The Palm, was excellent. But the attentive service was the notable surprise. Our server, Lisa, was very personable and paid extra attention to Mom. She made sure everyone was content and felt cared for. Despite the busy crowd, we felt like we were the only table there. EXCELLENT SERVICE! We will be back! My party couldn't decide on an appetizer, so the waitress offered to create a sampler style platter of our choices so we didn't have to choose just one (this option is NOT on the menu, so her customization for us was really cool). Best steak I have ever had - green beans with pancetta, pine nuts, and red pepper flakes were good enough to eat as a meal. Everyone loved their food but those who ordered the sea bass with corn salsa did not stop raving about it - well cooked and incredible flavor. Also, generous portions!

Business travels take me to Chicago on a semi-regular basis and nothing could top the steak I had this past weekend as it is what comes to mind when thinking of mid-western steak. I told Joey he needed to make it the feature cut. The wife says I have to mention the goat cheese mashed potatoes! Incredible service as is the norm. Our favorite steak house in Charlotte bar none. It was everything that we expected and more. I ordered the prime NY strip and the special for the night was to add a choice of shrimp, scallops or a crab cake. I had the shrimp, sauteed in white wine butter - a wonderful compliment for the perfectly cooked steak.
Our waiter was attentive and fun and very knowledgeable about the food and wine. The result of the delay with the steaks resulted in a delay of the serving of the lobsters. The results was overly dried out lobster. They made a great effort to accommodate the delay with complimentary shrimp cocktail. The overall experience was not what it should be considering the cost of the individual meals.

Though a bit pricey for a neighborhood restaurant, that's the feel one gets. Wait staff is knowledgeable, polite and helpful.
